Just signed up as a new member, and wanted to say hi. So Hi! Been vaping off and on for about a year now. Determined to quit smoking this time around. I have a few mods, a pod, some tanks, RTA's and rda's. I don't use the rebuildable's much because I never seem to get the wicking right, and I either get leaks, or cotton taste/no flavor. Anyhoo, just wanted to say hi.

Welcome to ECF. Getting off the cigarettes is the main point, and if that takes factory coils rather than rebuildables that's just fine and you'll have plenty of company.

On the other hand, if you'd like to learn more about rebuildables you might want to check out the forum:

Rebuildable Atomizer Systems

A lot of people have found it helpful to post pictures of their coiling or wicking attempts. We ECFers are always delighted to be asked for suggestions and opinions (and we're often happy to offer opinions unrequested ;)).

Good luck!

It is a loooong thread but you might pick up ideas that have worked for others - and a bit of support along the way. We would love to see you there! Just a suggestion :)

    Welcome and glad you joined.
You are not the first to have rebuild problems, the following may clear up some troubles:
You Tube is a good source in learning hand eye techniques regarding coil and wicking.
Could ask detail questions here: Wick and Wire

Welcome and good for you for trying.
I'm not overly gifted with rebuildable tanks so heavily rely on a classic RDA, the dripping type. They're all good (except a couple of dreadful designed ones) and provide my vape out of working hours. In working hours I use a Joyetech or Eleaf tank with cheap 'authentic' coils from China. I get 2-3 weeks per coil with homemade liquid (less gunking flavor) so 50 or 60 cents a week doesn't seem extravagant. Find your own way - that's what most long-term vapers seem to do.

I do have an rda (Freakshow mini) that I use occasionally when not at work. Very easy to get set-up right. The RTA's require more...practice as Coyote628 mentions. I have a Wotofo Troll RTA that drives me insane with the wicking, but when I get it right, the flavor is incredible. I don't mind buying the pre-made coils for say the TFV8 Big Baby Beast, but it's alot more fun building your own. Just bought a HorizonTech Falcon. Really good with the mesh coils!

I do enjoy making my own coils. I have 2 wotofo bravos and when i get the wicking right and no leaks, it is very nice indeed to vape on. Ive used plain single strand kanthal, premade clapton/alien wire, and even twisted some plain kanthal, all with varying degrees of success.
