Hello im new here hence in the newbie section.
for atleast a week I had been thinking of trying a ecig to see how they taste etc. so on Thursday I had a day and while out shopping I bought a skycig disposable menthol which had 18mg of nicotine. I used it on and off for about 11 hours and took max 50 puffs of it. I did it in about 4 stages. when I got it I did about 10+ puffs and I really enjoyed the taste the effect and the alertness etc. mid afternoon I walked to the post to return a item and puffed all the way there and back and then just before bed I took another about 9-10 puffs.
after the mid after noon I started to feel light headed and faint, really hot and feeling like I was going to throw up.
that evening I couldn't sleep at all but still quite awake the next day which surprised me as I would have normally been falling asleep.

the think is I haven't used one since but I get really strong urges to which seems to be worse today.
I also have 3 long term medical conditions pernicious anaemia which means my body cant absorb Vitamin b12 from food or drink and get 12 weekly injections, which isn't enough as when I get near the injection time I am really tired and cant concentrate which this helped with since my next injection is tomorrow.
I also have Ulcerative colitis which according to some research papers nic can help relieve some symptoms. the nic on Thursday change me from slightly constipated to going normally.
I also have kidney damage which will never get 100% better ever again and will get worse as I age, I have no idea the affect nic has on kidneys.

I am a true non smoker I had a couple of puffs when I was a teenager about 15 years ago but that's it. I don't like the smell of analog cigs at all.

Welcome to the forums tezza! Sorry to hear about your med problems. You might want to drop your nic down to 6mg if you want to vape all day and not have problems sleeping. I had the same at first till I dropped my nic, but I was about a pad for almost 20 years.

Get your self some fruity flavors and lower nic and you will feel better. Look into a standard ecig kit like a evod kit and those gas station kits are awfull.

Good luck with you health.

You're a non smoker and went to using nicotine? Not saying that's bad, but I would say that given some of your conditions perhaps, coupled with the fact that your body isn't used to nicotine if you're a non smoker probably made you feel ill.

If you want to try again, I'd ditch the disposables with nicotine. Go with a cig-a like like an ego twist or vision spinner or similar. Get a tank and try some juices with no nicotine. That way you can get the flavor and not get the nicotine. It'll probably cost a bit more than the disposables, but I think you'd be much happier.

Hi tezza, I'm always interested in anyone talking about the medical benefits of nicotine. I also suggest that you try and get something with a bit lower nic if possible. I have first hand experience with the beneficial affects of nicotine. I'm certainly no expert my any means. I wouldn't begin to know how it may affect you with the ailments that you have but I would suggest that you do a ton of research. I wish you the very best of luck and I welcome you to ECF.

Why are you choosing to do this?

You are a non-smoker with a theory that nicotine might help you - so it would make sense to talk to a doctor and maybe even consider using an alternative (NRT, prescription even?)

If you start puffing on an e-cig, you could encounter all sorts of possible difficulties. Feeling ill, not sleeping, faintness....

skycig are a joke (££) as well. If you decide to pursue this further, buy a refillable e-cig and start on the lowest nicotine you can.

(Apologies if I sound a little harsh....)

I wouldn't start vaping if I were you, tezza_G. Most of us started in order to quit cigarettes, and you have a complicated combination of medical problems that you shouldn't be self-medicating with nicotine via vaping, since it could make any of your problems worse. For example: Nicotine Receptors On Kidneys May Speed Kidney Damage. I will always encourage any smoker to quit for vaping (which is much healthier than smoking!), but wouldn't support non-smokers taking it up unless their doctor suggests it.

If you are doing this to help with your medical conditions, I hope you have discussed it with your doctor. Do the benefits outweigh the side effects you are experiencing? I wish you all the best and hope you find relief in some form. I'm just not sure if eCigs are the way to go, JMHO. Please just take care of yourself and listen to your body.

OK plain and simple - what you experienced was nicotine overload.

There's no reason to start vaping if you are not a smoker. But if you MUST and you are intent on developing a new habit with unknown long term health effects (um why are you doing this?) then simply get yourself a zero nicotine juice and a 6 mg juice - same flavor. Mix them half and half for a 3 mg result. This will eliminate the dizzy, head-achy, sleepless affects. You can switch over to the zero nic juice when you just want to chain vape for the pure pleasure of vaping, as opposed to seeking alertness, or a nicotine infusion.

Note: This won't work with the disposables - you'd have to pick up at minimum a glassomizer or plastic clearomizer and an eGo battery.

Let me repeat though what others are saying in this thread. We don't really know what the long term affects of vaping are on the human body. We only know it's a healthier alternative than smoking cigarettes... which isn't saying much. So please - if you want to be alert or get a morning rush, have a strong cup of fresh coffee or espresso. Studies are showing that drinking a couple cups of coffee every day may lower risk for Type II Diabetes, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and as well, may be good for your liver. With coffee, you know what you are doing to yourself. Be safe - be smart.

thanks for the comments.
if i decide to try again i will go nic free but i think i might just forget the idea altogether.
i don't know why i get these ideas.

Ideas are good. :)

The problem is that vaping is more complicated than sticking a ciggy in your mouth and lighting it.

I don't remember there being forums for cigarettes.... pipes maybe? :)

If you are convinced there may be some benefit in using nicotine, research it and look into possible methods.

Good luck.
