Firstly hello, long time lurker firstvtime poster here. I've been using 510 w mega battery for couple months now and having fun w diy and cart mods.

I just got my second batch of parts and am having a rather odd issue with a brand new atomizer. I initially blew out primer and hooked up a cart, took a few puffs to get it rolling then passed it on to a friend. A couple days later she complained that it wasn't hitting very well in general so I investigate. I've found that I can only get decent vapor production if I first take a very hard initial priming draw... With or without heat! It is almost as if my intake holes are clogged although after a couple draws the problem returns and again I have to suck hard to get things rolling again. So my question is what the heck is going on? The coil is heating but there seems to be an air obstruction although I can temporarily clear it?

Any ideas?

Try taking a needle and cleaning out the holes. Be vary carefull with the one where the on top of the atty. If you push it in too far you can break the coil. This has worked for me. I was vaping a bunch of really dark VG flavors and it seemed to happen every so often. I try not to clean them if I can avoid it.

did you try washing it out under hot water, blow out and dry (standing vertical) overnight? It is possible that it got flooded.

Tried blowing out followed by light rinse in ethanol followed by another blow out and drying overnight. I will try hot water but don't understand how it could be flooded or clogged and keep exhibiting the same behavior regardless of what type of cart, how wet or dry it is, etc.

Maybe hot water and a dry will help

I just rinse mine with HOT water.Blow them out let them sit for an hour or so..plus they have a built in dryer
While I agree they have a built in dryer, you would hardly believe how many people think they killed their atomizers by cleaning them, when the only thing they did wrong was not letting them dry enough.

Did hot water rinse last night and blew out, let dry overnight and through most of today. Exhibiting the same behavior. The only thing i can tell between this atty and one that works fantastically is the contact seal on the cruddy one is slightly visible inside the intake holes on the bad one. I wouldn't expect that alone to cause such a big problem with airflow.

I am thinking this is just a defective/poorly made atty with some sort of non removable defect/obstruction inside the atomizer somewhere.

It's possible. Chinese manufacturing is generally not bad, but quality control can be spotty at times. Some have reported dead atty's right out of the box. If you're sure you've done all you can, I'd stop beating a dead horse and just get a few spares. I just ordered 15 LR atty's from eastmall at $3 each, even with overseas shipping, that's cheap enough that I'm not going to fret too much when one dies.
