Hi all,

I've been lurking here for a few weeks, reading hundreds and hundreds of threads... got my PV a bit more than a week ago, and am very happy with it due to all the wonderful help I found here in selecting the right items for me.

I've been cutting down on analogs since I got it, and just had my first full day without an analog! It's not easy for me... I'm a total basket case at the moment and am craving an analog like crazy... we'll see if I can make it through the weekend.

Anyway, I really want to thank all the wonderful posters here. Without their helpful posts, I could have lost motivation upon my initial confusion over and effort involved in understanding all the technical terms and choices of PVs, attys vs cartos, condom vs syringe vs taryn spin etc. etc.

It is a pretty rare event to be able to say that an internet forum has in fact likely literally saved one's life... but this is exactly what ECF and education about PVs is doing! I believe that my PV will save my life, and drastically improve the quality of such.

Again, THANK YOU!!!!

PS the knowledge I have gained here has also helped me get my father to start using a PV, something that he would NEVER have done if I couldn't walk him through everything step by step and order all his products for him. So two lives saved in one!

Welcome , and good for you . Your on your way . Most everybody really craves ciggies for awhile . I have been at this for a little over a year now , and it's only been the last few months that I haven't had any cravings . For me , I kept a higher nicotine juice around , for when I wanted a regular cigarette . Hit it for 2 or 3 minutes , and the cravings went away . You don't mention what PV your using , but A higher voltage device will give a bit more satisfaction , over a lower voltage device , such as a small 510 , or even the EGO's and clones . Although there are now some carto/tank devices available for the EGO's and clones that work very well / I purchased some at Gotvapes , to try out and they work great . Hang in there , and don't go back to the analogs . Just keep plodding away , every week , it gets easier and easier . In fact , after several weeks of no cigarettes , if you light one up , it will taste horrible , and you will never want one again . And on the plus side , you won't smell bad either . Good Luck

+1 on Renzuli's advice. Get what satisfies you in rather than chuck it. I adjusted my MG to 24 in the beginning and tried 5v to keep me off of the analogs. Best $$ I've ever spent was on vaping. No matter what you invest it'll turn out to be much less than analogs for most of us.

Congrats on being smoke free!

Thanks for the advice, guys. I think I'm going to order some 24mg juice right now for those big cravings.

I'm using an e-power 14650 with boge 2.0s now and resurrectors now... perhaps I'll get myself something with a higher voltage if I'm still struggling. That 24k gold plated provari is calling my name-- but I do have to pay the rent this month! ;)

I must be the odd one (I'm used to that) but I haven't had any cravings for analogs at all. I haven't had one in 48 hours and I haven't even been tempted. I have no idea why and it's kinda freaking me out. I'm not trying to be all, "Ha, ha, you're having cravings and I'm not." I'm just baffled by how easy this has been and worried that the withdrawal part is waiting ominously for me.

I didn't start this as a way to quit, just a way to get my nic when smoking wasn't an option, yet I enjoy it so much more than smoking analogs. The first day of vaping, I had maybe ten analogs. The second day I had four. The third day, I had one and a half, crushing the second one after three puffs. And now, I don't even think, "I need a smoke" or "I want a smoke." I just think, "What flavor should I try this time?" And I was a pack to a pack and a half smoker for most of thirty years. Maybe my craving has yet to hit and I have that to look forward to.

I bought a vapor king and a joye eGo-C. To tell the truth, I like the Vapor King better right now and use it almost exclusively because it feels like an analog. I can hold it like an analog while working on my laptop. The eGo-C has better vapor and battery life, but it doesn't soothe me as much. For right now, I think using something that mimics smoking an analog is helping me not miss real analogs. But that's just my opinion.

Congratulations, Genghis 1, and keep the faith. You can do this. Just keep trying different flavors and nic strengths until you find your sweet spot. And I agree with you one hundred percent on how helpful this community is. Without it, I would have thrown the nasty disposable I bought in the trash and kept on smoking analogs until I dropped.

Welcome Ghenghis 1 and congrats on your first day off the smokes! Good for you getting your Dad involved too, it's a good choice for the both of you.

Like some of the others said, keep a some higher nic juice around for those times when the cravings hit and remember this isn't a contest or a race, if you stumble just pick yourself up and get back at it. We all have to do this at our own pace.

You're off to a great start, keep up the good work. Best of Luck.

Good for you Genghis!! I'm in my 10th day analog free after 40 years of smoking! If I can do it you can do it too.

For me it was very important to find an e-cig and juice that will provide a good throat hit. Now that I'm getting that I'm very confident that I will never go back again!

In the meantime I'm searching for a even better PV

Keep at it!!

Good for you, too, JudeD! I guess you are one of the lucky ones that don't have too much trouble switching.

I could have foreseen that it wasn't going to be as lucky. I don't know all the factors at work (other chems in analogs, e.g.) but I do know that I have highly addictive tendencies/personality-- I started vaping the same weekend I got my 2 year AA chip.

I figure if I could get through detox on my own from 1-1.5 liters of Canadian (whiskey) a day, I should be able to withstand the tobacco withdrawal. No booze and hopefully soon no cigs... a few years ago, this would have sounded horrible to me, like a life not worth living... but, man, was I wrong. Things are looking up!

PS congratz, too, tribe!

Thanks. Maybe I didn't have trouble switching because I didn't realize I was switching LOL. I know myself and I know that my personality has always been--if I know I can have a smoke, I don't need to have one, but if I know I can't, I am desperate to light up. So maybe since I wasn't trying to quit and was just enjoying vaping without even realizing how long it had been since I had an analog, that made it easier. I know that if I told myself right now, "That's it. You're never going to smoke an analog again," my hand would be itching to reach for that pack. Instead, I just have the pack laying here and tell myself if I really want one, I can have one, and since there is no sense of sacrifice, I don't need one. Does that make any sense at all?

I've seen this in so many aspects of my life. I rarely ever eat or drink after midnight, but if I'm having surgery or blood tests and I can't have anything to eat or drink after 12, I'm suddenly more hungry and thirsty than I've ever been in my life. I act like I'm a contestant on Survivor or something, desperate enough to eat rats and bugs or drink my own pee. It's ridiculous, but I've accepted that it's just the way I am.

Congrats on AA, too! Two years! You are taking charge of your life!

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about... it's about having choice. My AA mates think I am absolutely nuts for having a half a bottle of whiskey under my sink (though duct taped shut to all hell), but I've kept it there since the day I quit, to know that I have the option to drink it if I want, but am just choosing not to.

I think that's how I should be looking at cigs too, as you are-- thanks for reminding me!

+1 on this and JudeD,

This time I told my wife and kids "I'M NOT QUITTING SMOKING"; just trying something different. I had enough frustrations failing my other quits to add to this the burden of letting down your whole family...

Amazingly I feel more freedom and much less inclined to light an analog
