Hello Everyone, Another Newbie Here

Hey Everyone, I'm a 30+ years PAD smoker who made the switch about 10 days ago. I had my last analog last Thursday, Dec. 5 about 7:30 a.m. Not sure if Thursday counts as day one since I had 4 analogs that morning but after 7:30 a.m. it was vape only and has been ever since. Prior to that I had been switching back and forth between analogs and e-cig for about a month with the last couple of days before the switch really cutting down on the analogs. Started out with the disposables which weren't cutting it for me and started searching around for the best e-cig and was reading that for med-heavy smokers like myself it might be better to invest in the larger MOD type vape equipment. I spent a little over $200 for a couple of eGo C Twist batteries, chargers, tanks, atomizers and juices. I know there's probably better equipment out there but for now this will do and so far I'm satisfied with what I've got. I found a vape shop a couple of miles from home with prices comparable to the online stuff plus the benefit of having the guys at the shop showing me whats and hows of vaping. First couple of days were rough. There's way more to tobacco cessation than just nicotine replacement and the habitual hand to mouth action, etc... One of the things that has helped me stay off the analogs is the people and information on this forum. For those first few days I spent a lot of time reading a lot of the information and posts here. I just created my own profile today.

congrats on making the switch and welcome to ECF

(who charged you $200 for ego twist setup's? when you are ready to upgrade ask here for recommendations first and we will direct you to some great deals or at least shop around a little in LA - there must be a couple hundred B&M stores open in LA by now)

welcome to the vape side! figured id throw it out there that a friend of mine that was a heavier smoker than i couldn't quit analogs with regular ejuice but found that vaping ejuice with whole tobacco alkaloids helped a lot. tobacco is a plant and has other chemicals in it that help with giving you that calming buzz of an analog. thats where these alkaloids come in, as regular e-juice has none of these.

Welcome, that's great that you are trying to quit...Only been @ it myself since feb this year...I started with 510 and then ego-c. Good starting place and maybe what you will use for good . I have went to a little more but still don't have a mechanical. It's really what works for you and nobody can tell you what will work only you can decide that. Good luck.

I was wondering about that too. I guess it depends how many you bought. I got 2 900mAh batteries, a charger, Kanger PTII Mini, a clearo, some replacement heads, and liquid for just under $80 with free shipping at myvaporstore.com.

Congratulations and good luck.

You gave up exactly the same day I did! I was a PAD smoker for 38 years, and I was absolutely amazed that since my first e-cig on that day I've not felt even the slightest need for an analog! I've been getting by for the past week or so on a V2, but my Triton tanks arrived today and I couldn't be happier :) Belgium Chocolate.......yum!

Thanks everyone for your comments. Really appreciated. I'm new to the forum scene and like the e-cig scene I'm learning how to use the forum.

Here's a little more detail about the $200 purchase. This was a couple of visits to the shop. Here's what I got:

(2) eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 1000 mAh batteries; (1) eGo-C Upgrade 650 mAh battery; (2) chargers; (4) Kangertech EVOD eGo bottom coil Clearomizers; spare pack of 5 Heating coil/Atomizers; and about 10 5ml bottles of juice with and without Nicotine.

At the age of 53 I'm in the beginning stages of COPD and really need to get off and stay off the analogs. My first goal was to get everything, no matter what the cost, and get off the analogs. I don't want to be running out of anything and returning to the Marlboros. Hopefully with the inhalers and not smoking tobacco the shortness of breath will start alleviating. I've read that there may possibly be an issue with COPD and e-cigs. I've done patches, gum, lozenges, hypnotherapy, Smoke-Enders, cold-turkey and nothing has worked. This is the first time in 20 years that I've gone longer than a day cigarette free.

My first visit to the shop I think was about $110 for the MOD kit which was a battery of my choice, charger, clearomizer of my choice w/coil & atomizer and I think I walked out with about 4 - 5 bottles of juice. I was there at least 3 times the first week of the vape experience. One would think in a city like L.A. there would be a ton of vape shops. In the L.A. Basin area Hollywood/Downtown where I live I could only find about 5 brick & mortar vape shops. At least that's all that I could find via Google & Yelp. I love the shop that I found. The guys that work there spend time with me, listen to my rambling mouth and let me check out the juices. Now that I've got a set-up and can sit back and do a little more shopping around.

Thanks to everyone,
CJ

Welcome to the vaping community! It spans far and much wider than just this internet forum! You'll find you have fellow brothers and sisters all over the place!

Nice $200 investment, it will definitely pay for itself within the next 6-12 months. Plus, you're investing in your health. And e-Juice tastes sooo much better than analogs =)

I had no idea what I was doing with the Post #1 here. Came back later and read through the thread and laughed at myself . I too am fighting health issues and know Vaping is way better than analogs. BTW, this is also the first I've ever heard cigarettes called analogs! Wishing you the best of luck and sincerely praying there is no truth that Vaping contributes to COPD. I've seen videos where lung function improved with the use of vaporizers.

Welcome to ECF! You made the right choice to vape. There really is much more to cigarettes then the nicotine addiction and the hand to mouth. I was a pack a day smoker as well, and the first thing I did each morning was light a cigarette. Since I started vaping, I'm finding that I can do other things before reaching for my vape. I can make coffee, get dressed.... If it was all about the nicotine, I think I'd be reaching for the vape first thing.
