The approaching mail ban led me to stocking up on my juice, then coils, then mods and tanks, and finally decided to get into rebuildables. Which is why I’m here. Rebuildables.

I will be looking into what tools will help me build on a deck with prebuilt coils? Not planning to build my own, not yet anyway. Where’s the best place to get said prebuilt coils? How useful would that coil master diy kit v3 be? The 521 mini v2 thing looks like it could be convenient.

I have a profile 1.5 otw and wondering why I can’t find a damn thing on the SUS316L nexmesh. I see 3fvape posted it in their vendor update thread late January so is it pretty new? Can’t find any opinions on tc or performance or reviews in general. Most sites don’t have it. No YouTube videos. TONS of info on the old OFRF SS316L nexmesh for the original profile.

Anyway thanks for any help. I will probably post some of this in another section for more visibility.

Unfortunately, am not fully knowledgeable when it comes to prebuild coils. Would rather make one myself but, you can buy some coil building kits they have on sale throughout the internet. Another option would be a good micro tools kit with micro screwdrivers and flatheads. Good pair of needle nose tweezers are a great tool as well. Some prefer ceramic tweezers to use during dry burning the coil.

I only use kanthal because a few issues with others. I build all of my own. The few times I tried pre-made coils they never really fit the width of my decks to I would always have to add another wrap or unwrap one. I tossed them or gave them away. A few spools and a simple coil rod and boom...just what I want and much cheaper.
An ohm reader/base to check the coil and fire is handy. In a pinch you can use a good mod but I like the stable base of a reader.

Ah yes I will definitely be in that section. Thank you! I will probably start a thread about the SS nexmesh I posted above. I kid you not if you google “SUS316L nexmesh Reddit” nothing will come up for Reddit. Also YouTube nothing. I’ve always liked SS and I really want a squonk that can do TC well.

Thank you that does help. Yeah I’ve heard about the ceramic tweezers quite a bit. There’s quite a bit of stuff on Fasttech name brand that’s sold out right now with the mail ban about here.

Well damn you make it sound easy. I might try out some of the MKWS or demon killer prebuilt ones highly rated on FT because they are so cheap it’s crazy. If I’m gonna make my own which I think I might go ahead and try it now, I wanna get some complex prebuilt alien or quad core Clapton or whatever the hell on a spool for cheap and I just cut it to size and wrap it myself. Yeah it’s more expensive but still cheap af compared to what I’m used to spending on stock coils. I might go ahead and get that coil master diy kit v3 that has the 521. I really like what it does. And then I will have everything else. Might need to get a thing or two that’s better quality separate though from some of what I’ve read about it. Thanks for the help I appreciate any help I can get right now with the clock running out.

I use this for 90% of my builds:
$5.35 Demon Killer Kanthal A1 Alien Heating Wire for RBA Atomizers - 32 AWG / 0.2mm dia. / 0.3mm*0.8mm flat / 5m/roll at FastTech - Free Shipping
Easy to work with and can dry burn it without worry. I recoil about every 4 weeks (I tend to use 1 or 2 attys at a time).
Flat means I get less spit back which is a pet peeve of mine. 5/6 wraps at 3 diameter is about .5 or .6 ohms. Works in almost everything for me. Also not springy. I wish I could find a slightly finer spool in kanthal for MTL lung and smaller attys but I have not found it yet.
Making your own coils is about 90% about winding with firm and even pressure. It is not difficult and much cheaper.

YES that’s what I’m talking about right there!! I’m gonna go ahead and place an order now and I should get it right before Christmas! J/k. Nah seriously I think I will make a separate order on FT for the coil master kit v3. If you were me and had absolutely nothing what tools might you get on their own for better quality? Ceramic tweezers? Wire cutters? Looks like the quality tweezers are the most important. Will get a little micro electronics screwdriver set as mentioned off Amazon.

y’all have been more help tonight than ECR had been in a week. Something really impersonal about Reddit that keeps me going back to specialized forums.

I didn’t know that about flat. That’s interesting that that makes that much difference when it comes to spit back! I would think the coil is too close to the drip tip.

There can be several reasons for spit back. Round wires just don’t work as well for me than flat aliens. Wick and power settings also are factors.
I think I got most of my tools on Amazon. Good hand tools can be bought any time. I do use ceramics tweezers to scrape and squeeze coils. I must have the fine curved tweezers for setting wicks into channels. finding the wire that works best is important IMO. Then of course buying enough. I would invest in a good ohm reader with an 18650 for building.

If you get wire cutters, make sure they are flat on one side so you can trim the wire flush to the post. Or that would be a requirement for me. Most times you can also just bend the wire end back and forth a bunch until it breaks, after screws are tightened down, if you don't have wire cutters.
Bent tip metal tweezers with a sharp point are useful for many people to thin out the wicking, this can be critical with some builds, not at all with others.
Ceramic tweezers are extremely useful when first installing a coil, used to pinch the coil together while firing to improve the flow of current through it. If you are using spaced coils or mesh I don't think that is a thing, no pinching while firing.
Many rebuildable tanks come with a multi-tool that has a small Phillip's point and a relevant hex key. There are two common sizes of hex keys, I'm not sure what the actual measurement of them is...

That coilmaster kit has everything you need as far as tools. And a nice case to keep them all contained. Their coil jig is simple and easy to use, although you might want to hand wrap some of the more complicated ( rough or bumpy? ) types of wires.
Nice. Thanks for the input! This really helps me decide on what to get. For now will just get the prewrapped on the spool.

As for mesh I have a profile 1.5 otw and I heard really good things about the vandy vape mesh 200 SS316L on the spool. I really love SS I’ve always liked the flavor I got. Plus TC would be good I hear for mesh especially to avoid the terrible dry hit.

These are the RDAs I just picked up just in case if anyone has any advice for: ULTON clone citadel, wasp nano, drop dead, Asgard mini, profile 1.5. I only plan on squonking with them and I got a few topside duals and a couple pulse v2s. I want a squonk that can to TC really well but want it to be great in other areas too. The SXmini x class could have been amazing if only the bottle wasn’t so damn small. It didn’t have TC or not a good one but if you dialed in the auto squonk right you would never get a dry hit anyway.

Just to make sure we are on the same page, the coilmaster jig is used for wire from spool. It's what you wrap the coil around / helps you wrap it evenly.

The one that comes with the coil master v3 kit is good with the ohm reading yeah?

Thank you so much. Tweezers with a sharp point to thin out the wicking huh? Is that more for RTA or RDA as well?

After hearing this yes I’m definitely getting some prebuilt coils also

Oh yeah I know. I’ve done a bit of research these last couple weeks since I heard about the mail ban. But I won’t hesitate to ask if I don’t know something! I didn’t know what the correct term is I’ve seen prebuilt on the spool. Prewrapped on spool. I’m all about getting it like that on the spool if it will do what I need.
