First off I been Viewing the forums for a long time and have to say that the community here seems to be full of nice people who help each other out and I decided to join this community with a heart warming hello :D. I been trying different techniques listed on the forums to better atty health and they've proved miraculous, namely the "Dry burn" and blowing out the gunk with running water method. Resurrected a Titan I use. Now that titan is a drip atty because it doesn't seem to vape carts anymore but will vape dripped juice using the drip tip.

I purchased a new atty for "lighter" juices because i like to have one for light and dark juices due to the issues with the thicker, darker flavors (Which are my favorites). I got this atty from Juicy vapor (great site with awesome set of flavors and prices!) Now the weird thing about this atty is I got a massive throat hit but a burn taste that was absolutely brutal. with Lighter juices I make carts since i don't have vaping problems if using lighter juices.

I've read that some attys have primer fluid in them, hence the throat burn. However when trying to blow it out, Nothing...Just air. So I thought "Okay, this is good to go then". Filled up a new cart with polyfill (As I normally do), put my juice in and poke my air holes using a safety pin then filled my juice in the cart. Slapped the atty on with a fully charged batter and took a few puffs and I felt the flavor hit my throat, inhaled and ACK! felt like someone lit my throat on fire. Was reading that it could be a "Dry" atty so I put my juice directly in the atty to see if that helped. For the first 3 short drags, it seemed ok but then after I take my normal draw once again I was tasting a nasty burnt flavor.

I took the cart off and inspected the atty to see if maybe part of the polyfill was on the atty (that tends to happen sometimes unfortunately...especially if you trim the polyfill unevenly before filling your e-juice) no dice, it was clean and pretty like it was when opening it from the package.

my question is what should I try to do to get this odd atty to vape correctly. I get vape but it's a throat massacre that shouldn't happen. The flavor is Peanut butter & honey and I know for a fact that it shouldn't taste like this. What would be the best suggestion. Should I try putting more juice on the bridge? I am still new to the vape scene been a vaper since April 23rd. Thanks for reading.Glad to be an actual part of the forum now and hope someone can help me. Thanks!

Because this is a new atomizer, what I do is put a drop on the bridge, take some short puffs without inhaling a few times, then repeat about 3 or 4 more times. It takes a bit to get your atty broke in with your juice. I do this when changing flavors, too, especially when the flavor I'm changing to is not going to be a good mix with the old one.

I clean my used atty every night and rotate two of them. So every morning I am dealing with a dry one.

It takes a LOT of juice on the atty bridge to get them ready for vaping. I put in 4 drops directly on the bridge and prop them up so it'll wick down. I go to make my coffee then. When coffee's done, I add 2 or 3 more drops to the atty bridge and then take 2 quick puffs that I don't inhale. By the third puff, it's perfect and the juice is wicked onto the heating element:)

I've seen some ppl say it takes them 8 or 9 drops to get their attys primed for vaping.

This possibly could be a LR atty. Does have a gold band on it. However juicy vapor didn't state if it was LR or not. According to the user on youtube "Phee" he said low resistance attys are likely to die faster then conventional attys. Don't know how true that is because I never heard about these until recently. This burn feeling is unbearable. I guess I should prime it with more juice when starting my day of vaping. Thanks for the suggestions. Once again Great to be part of a awesome community and thanks for the welcome! I'll report changes in my attys behavior after trying what I've read here, Thanks again!

Just a question; please bear with me, cuz I'm only Vaping a week now for the first time after burning ciggs over 50 years.

When you say clean the Atty, what do you clean with? I've done that to get rid of the Heated (I won't say burned) residual's on the nichrome. BTW...I had a massive panic the other day when I was driving and the eGo PV atty burned out. I was on my way to my sons and he has no store open to buy nicotine. the gas station closed at 5:00 on that Sunday, and i was in a pickle.
On the way home...it was like doing a 10 mile run without a drop of water... LOL.
Now, ......even though I am a Newbie with Pv'ing I was taught by DD's BF (who is a seasoned Pv'r) to always keep the atty wet, and I do. I drip 2 - 3 drops every time I refill the cartridge for continued Pv'ing.

I did clean that particular atty, and I used Ethanol. 100% pure Grain Spirits from the liquor store. Then I didn't waste the ethanol...I just dropped it in some ginger ale and enjoyed the drink.
Am I using the wrong cleaning agent/? ? ?
Ooops!... BTW...I'm Pv'ing 24 mg / ml of tobacco in 20% VG. with a eGo 650mah battery...standard atty.. measured ( 2.4 ohms )
I am using the carts that came with the V'r and I am using the first two and am alternating.
I do hit the manual button for 1 second before starting to slowly drawing, and there is generally enough vapor to satisfy my nic. habit for at least a while b-4 I re-wet the cartridge with juice. I don't feel I attained enough nic unless I take a nasal hit which IMO gives me a better nic absorption.... I am loving this PV'ing regardless! .> one Happy Nicobum <

EmbryoDad,

I don't know if my cleaning method will prove to be good or not since I made it up. So take it with a grain of salt! I've been vaping 2 weeks and I use 100 % VG, which is thicker and harder on attys. I'm also a dripper so my attys get good and sticky! Every night, I use a pipette and squirt a mix of 30% white vinegar and 70% distilled water into the atty over and over. I started initially using 100% vinegar but it smelled so darn potent and I worried it would eat away at the metal inside. So I diluted it in a water bottle with distilled water.

Both attys are performing great but I need the test of time to see if this light daily cleaning method works. I'm too scared to do dry burns and alcohol soaks. If my 510 attys last for a month or two, I'll consider it a successful cleaning method=)

I sometimes get a nasty throat burnt taste with my E2 cartomizer but a wash under the hot tap /faucet? and a dry burn (and a scrape on the coil with a plastic stylus to get the crust off) and I'm back to fab vapour and great taste.

Unfortunately you can't get to the coil on the atomiser of a 510 and I found cleaning really difficult thats why I thought I'd try these E2 cartomizers expecting a short life but to be honest, after 2 weeks and still as good as the day I bought it, I don't think I will ever go back to attys.
I seemed to be always topping up with the 510 atty and had 4 on rotation cause I seemed to swap them round about twice a day because of it not dragging properly or a burnt taste

I have had some luck with boiling my attys, i use mostly 510 attys and 4 out of 6 came back to life after a 5 minute boil. Once the boiling is finished drop it in a bowl, let it cool, then blow it out really well with some canned air. Put a few drops directly on the bridge, wait a few minutes, then get your cart good and wet, do a few short puffs and you can be back in business. If this kills your atty I am sorry, i have lost 2 doing this but they were dead anyways.

Ok, I found if I drip 3 drops in the atty along with a full cart and wait about 5-8 minutes or so I don't get the burned taste. So I suppose this is a LR because I never had a problem like this with an atty. Hmmm. well at least I found a temp fix. Thanks again for all the help guys, it's very much appreciated. now that I'm a member I can help others in need now. Off to work I go! (I hate these late shifts  )

Gee! thanks for the reply back!...Hmm! I like the acidic cleaning. I'm a fusspot for cleanliness, and even when I was a smoker, I could not stand a dirty ashtray. I would scrub them every night before I retired to the Crib. Could not stand the odor.

BTW...you are right! one or two burnouts of a atty is not gonna make me or break me, but I just being a newbie, wanted to get an idea of the time that these atty's would last and if I would have to count on ordering like a couple dozen for just in case.

My motto was always.... I would rather have a broken lighter, or a book of matches that would not light; as opposed to a wet pack of cigarettes.
