I wish I would have found this place a week ago. The only reason I found it is because I was looking for the reason my recently purchased blu-cig only worked half the time. It seemed like a good idea at the time. This thing is a piece of junk. The only thing it manage to due is slowly stop working and ween me off nicotine. I think they should market it as a quit smoking program.

Anyway I have been doing a little reading since and have decided to send the blu-cig back 30 day money back guaranty. I need some quick advice on which e-cig to buy. I need to buy in the next day or so before I snap. The only thing I care about is reliability. Also was wondering if anyone has come up with a way to use one without a battery. Just plugged it a wall, usb or even a car charger.

Please excuse my noobness

Thanks

I got an ego off of e-smokeytreats, and it's great. It's not the blu though, you need to order e-liquid to fill it up but I prefer using liquid over buying cartridges. It's a little harder to use, buy you get better flavors and it's cheaper.
p.s. - a lot of people would reccomend the ego, not just me. I just got mine a month ago based on reviews from this site. Also, you don't have to use e-smokey treats to get an ego, but they are a very trusted supplier on the forums.

Well, you're about to get flooded with a ton of "Buy an eGo!" responses. Get ready for it....LOL. Yes, the eGo is a good unit, though. You can pretty much search any question you may have here for your answers, they've pretty much all been covered. USB passthroughs are available.

More answers incoming!

Also, where in Buffalo are you? There's a local shop near you with decent prices.

Hi and welcome to ECF. It would help if you told us how much you used to smoke and what kind. There's a few good units on the market, but it depends on your need as to which one is best. If you were a light smoker, a KR808 or basic 510 would likely do ok. If you were a heavy smoker, an eGo or Riva would fit the bill. Yes, they do make PV's that plug into your usb port, or with an adapter they'll plug into the wall or car. They're called passthrough's (PT). They're cheap too, like $12 or so. Check these out Joye 510 Manual USB Passthrough. Just add an atomizer and cartridge, drip tip, or cartomizer and you're vaping without having to recharge batt's.

Welcome to ECF and good on you for sending your kit back for a refund.

We'll be able to help you choose a better kit if we know how much you smoke and what your expectations of vaping are.

There are passthroughs available that you can plug into a USB port on your computer or into a wall wart. They don't require charging and are always ready for vaping. I have a 510 PT that I love!

The eGo 510 is a good "starter" PV. Better than the regular 510 and about 1000 times better than the Blu. (but then what isn't better than a Blu). Personally, I prefer the 801 atomizer (the numbers correspond with the atomizer size) over the 510 on a larger battery PV (personal vaporizer) that uses a 5 volt battery instead of the smaller 3.7 volt. But for a new person, the eGo 510 would probably be the best starting point. And I strongly suggest getting e-liquid instead of the prefilled carts and fill blank carts. (much better taste/variety and much less costly) I would also start out at 24mg nicotine strength liquid. Most new vapers start out two low in nic. strength and end up having a hard time making the transition. Also ALWAYS get manual (small button) batteries. The auto's like the Blu just don't hold up or work well.

Suppliers on this forum are good places to buy from. If they don't do a good job, everyone finds out, so I would look through their sites which are listed at the bottom half of the front page of the forum.

Good Luck

Im pretty new too and only have one ecig so cant offer too much guidance other than the experience Ive had with mine.

I read here for weeks before my first purchace. I chose a Joye 510 with PCC from CigNot. The Blu seems to be somewhere between the mall/convenience store ecigs and the good name brand ones in terms of of performance and overpriced.

Very happy with the 510 kit. Comes with two batts and with the case I can alternate batteries all day (two to three times) and never be without a charged battery and not rely on an outlet. You can get a "usb passthrough" for minimal cost which basically replaces the standalone battery with one that has a small cord attached and has a USB plug at the other end. This can be directly plugged in to your computer or with an appropriate adapter either 12v lighter outlet in your car or 110v wall outlet while watching tv in the front room.

Very happy with my kit so far but looking at upgrading to an EGO so as to minimize accessory stuff I have to keep up with throughout the day.

good luck and welcome.

I smoked about a pack of camels day mostley in my van. I have a tough book in my van and though i could just plug it into my usb with out worring about batterys. The main thing I am concered with is getting my nicotine fix before I get to my next job.The one thing that concern me is when I read about the atomizer it always say it only works for a month at most and you have to buy new ones all the time..

Welcome to ECF! Finding this forum is the best thing!! I started vaping in August with a 901, but soon after I bought an eGo. Two mods later, I can tell you that back in August, I didn't know what half of the stuff people mentioned was, and now, I'm ordering it!

Take your time, enjoy vaping, ask questions, read the forums, and watch the videos. When I first got here, I was really baffled by talk of voltage, 3.7 vs 6, and four months later, I get it, although I haven't felt the need to try the higher voltage. Moving from an automatic, which has no button, you take a drag and it turns on, to a manual, you hold down the button to turn on the battery, was enough of an upgrade for me to be happy. I liked my first kit, I LOVE my eGo, but in six months, who knows? The only thing I know is that vaping has finally made me able to say I don't smoke. Who wants menthol when you can drip chocolate, then raspberry, then cheesecake...?

If you have questions, please feel free to pm me, or anyone else who's replied to your post. I really feel I can say that everyone here wants you to have success with vaping, and will be happy to help you succeed.

Got a chuckle from reading your post. When I was growing up in Upstate NY, Tonawanda was an enigma . . . but decades have passed in the interim. Others are correct in the answer to your original post - you are looking for a passthrough. It's what got me off 1-1/2 pd of full flavor 100's - no waiting for recharge. Welcome to ECF!

Cartomizers usually come in a 5 pack and are considered disposable, atomizers usually last about the same time as that same 5 pack of cartomizers, at least in my experience. I feel that I get a better hit from atomizers too. What you're looking for is a passthrough with a car adapter. Check here USB to Car Adaptor, and here Joye 510 Manual USB Passthrough. Add an atomizer or cartomizer, some juice, and you're vaping for less than $25.

damn ya'all are fast. this topic had 0 replys when I started typing.

Type faster! LOL!

It sounds like you'd do well with either a Riva or an eGo type PV. The Riva is less expensive, but works wonderfully. It was my first kit and I still love it! As far as atomizers go, they can be funny pieces of hardware. Some will last for a couple of months or more, some will quit working after a couple of weeks. It's just the nature of vaping. Think of it this way...you spent all that money on cigarettes. You light it, smoke it and throw the .... away. Atomizers aren't that expensive in the grand scheme of things, especially if you buy them in bulk. $125 for 25 atomizers is a good deal when you probably won't have to buy more for another six months or longer. If you take care of your attys, then I think they'll last longer. I've had mine for over 2 months now and they're still going strong.

There is also now available an eGo battery that you can plug a USB cable into the end of the battery. Got one this week and works a treat.

I have it plugged into my office computer during the day and vape away. If I need to leave the office I just unplug from the battery and walk away, it's fully charged. You could also plug it into an adapter for your van's lighter socket.

It's like having an eGo and a passthrough in one. Well..it is exactly that, an eGo passtrough!!!

As everyone has said Ego is the way to go. Its bigger than you might want but smaller than I expected hehe. You can get a passthrough that plugs into a USB and youll be in vaping heaven.

Liberty flights is a great vendor for the eGo. Be sure to take advantage of their 20% off program and I think they have a sale for a eGo kit for 40 bucks starting on Black Friday. Thats a deal that just cant be beat.

Get some juice from Tasty Vapor ( their Atomic cinnacide will kick you in the balls and Tastyfinger is amazing ) and Backwoods Brew ( Maxboro is the best "tobacco" flavor Ive had so far. )

Your noobness is excused. We have all been there. I have a Blu kit in my closet hehe.
