Hello everyone and what a pleasure it is to be here. I hope to learn a lot here about vaping as I am new to this. I will start with a little bit about myself and then I have a question at the end.

My name is Dave, I'm 23 and I'm from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. I've been smoking since I was around 15. I used to smoke around 10-15 cigarettes a day using Tobacco.

I have tried to quit before and failed, the longest I went without a cigarette was around 12-19 hours. I have tried to quit a few times.

I had tried an E cigaratte late last year, it was just one of those £6 E-lite model ones that you find in most supermarkets, etc, it was free, so I thought I'd give it a go. I was pleasantly suprised and that is how I stopped smoking for the longest period, however the pre-filled cartomiser eventually ran out and when I saw the cost of new ones I double back and started with the tobacco again.

Until Thursday 18th, after months of on and off browsing of different websites with not knowing much information, I decided to buy a better one and I went for the VapeStick MAX in Chrome. I was suprised on Saturday morning to receive it as it didn't get dispatched until the Friday. I ordered the MAX in Chrome with 2 boxes of 2.4% Original pre-filled cartomisers and 2 boxes of Menthol 2.4% pre filled cartomisers. The total cost was around £73 including the 10% discount code.

I tried the menthol and I love it, so much that I am sending the Original flavour back and getting them swapped for Menthol. I have now been smoke free since which is around 56 hours and I haven't looked back and I don't miss the cigarettes.

I decided to join this forum so I could learn new things and join a great community. I am now looking for my next purchase and I hope you can guide me as to what to get next. I'm looking for something that is going to last battery wise and something that is a bit more technical than just screwing a pre-filled cartomiser. It also needs to be easily upgradeable and with parts that easily/widely availible. While still being cost effective. My initial investment for my next purchase is around a maximum of £100, but I can possibly go higher if needed as long as it is worth it. My budget for each month for refills, juice, parts, etc, is around £25-£30. I'm really not sure if that is too much or to little of a budget, I'm hoping you can tell me. Any suggestions on my next purchase with the points above taken into account are very very appreciated. And just to add, I am in England, UK, so any purchases need to be delivered here. All advice is welcome, and I hope someone can explain clearomisers, tanks, ohms, volts, etc, or can show me a beginners guide.

Thank you very much.

Welcome to the forums Dave. I will leave it up to other members in the UK to suggest places to buy. I'm sure there are plenty there so you don't have to wait a month to get it from another country.

I will try to answer some of the other questions though.

Ohms is the measurement of resistance in the coil of the delivery device. The delivery device is you clearomizer, tank, etc.

Clearomizers are almost like tanks to hold your juice, except they use wicks to get the juice to the coil. There are top coil and bottom coil clearos and both have advantages and disadvantages. This is more of a trial and error of what you like.

Tanks are just that. A tank for your juice. They usually use a cartomizer that has the wicking material and coil inside.

I don't know of a guide as I've never seen it. When I first started, I learned a lot from watching reviews on tasteyourjuice.com.

Happy vaping.

welcome dave to ecf. a wealth of information here. congrats on giving up the stinkies. others can advise you better on your next purchase...i dont have a lot of experience in that area. i have a joyetech c 1000mah and 1300mah....meaning for each 100, about an hour of vaping. always have 2 batteries. on that i use a ce5 clearomizer. it holds 1.9ml of juice, so you dont have to fill a lot, and easy to refill. i am happy with it....

get on here and read all the newby stuff you can. also, after enough posts, you can go anywhere and we have a uk forum and those folks will be able to advise you as to vendors and so forth.

you may want to get sample sizes of juice so you can find a favorite.

jump on here and welcome other new people and your post count will go up quickly, and you can learn even more.

congrats on your 56 hours! now jump right in and make yourself at home...you are now a vaper and an ex smoker!

So if I understand correctly a tank is what holds the juice and feeds it to the cartomiser that has the wicking and atomiser inside. The clearomiser is like a tank but instead of feeding a cartomiser, it has it's own wicking and atomiser inside of it? Is that correct?

Pretty much, yes. Here are links to a cartotank and a clearomizer:

SMOKtech LARGE UDCT Ultimate Dual Coil Tank 6ml 1.5ohm - GUN MET [gv-NewSMOKLargeUDCT-GunMetal] - $11.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

Innokin iClear 16 Dual Coil Clearomizer - Best Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette Manufacturer| Innokin

The first link is a carto tank. The tank is the clear plastic that holds the juice. The cartomizer is the silver tube through the center. The cartomizer has holes in it so juice can get in. Inside is the coil and wicking material.

The second is a clearomizer. The clear plastic still holds your juice, but instead of having a cartomizer, it has those wicks that sit in the juice. Inside the metal tube holding the wicks is the coil.

That is how I understand it. The learing curve is so steep with these gadgets. :) Welcome! When I see tank I think about the part that holds the juice. It can mean just that or a clearomizer that has the atomizer built into it or more popular spoke of as a larger container that has a carto built into it as a 'wicking' device.

I Am sure you will get a whole ton of responces.

Am I right in thinking that it will be cheaper to buy juice in the bottle and fill my own clearomiser or tank rather than buying pre filled cartomisers. I'm really worried as I'm on my second pre filled cartomiser. The other lasted about a day and at this rate I'll be looking at around £50-£60 to keep me going each month. Which is a bit more than my £30 budget for each month.

Yes, probably a little cheaper. But not until you find that one special juice that you love. Until then, it's money here and there to try different flavors.

One site I like is ecblend.com. They have a lot of different juice, you can create your own flavors, and you can get a small sample bottle for around $3. Something like that lets you try a bunch of different juice without breaking the bank. I'm sure there are other sites that sell small samples, I just like this one because I can play mad scientist and make my own crazy combinations.

I just thought I'd update this thread as to what my next purchase will be

Vamo V2

Kanger Protank VE511

Innokin iClear30 Dual Coil Tank VE501

Vision Vivi Nova V2.5 Long Wick Clear VE371 Clear

Kanger EVOD BC Clearomiser

2x VE454 18650 (2000mah) (I might get another 1 or 2)

Nitecore Intellicharge i4 V2

I might get a drip tip too so I can easily test a few sample juices.
