Hello guys, been reading a day or two and wanted to join and participate (well...mostly bug you guys with questions for a while most likely, heh heh). I smoked for about 17 years, then quit 15 years ago when my wife was expecting our first. I had also been using smokeless tobacco during my smoking days, and probably increased usage to replace the cigs. I tried a Blu ecig back in October of this year and haven't had a "dip" since!

Since the Blus, I've ditched them and now use the eGo batteries, first with clearomizers, which were a leap up from Blu, but the leaking/bubbling/gurgling made me want to stomp them, as I'm sure a lot of you already knew. I received a couple of Kanger Protank Minis last Friday, along with a Kanger Unitank mini, and absolutely love them. I've been reading and looking at kanger coil rebulding, and as soon as I get my next package I'm going to tinker with rebuilding them (unless the wife kills me first...she's been counting the shipments!)

Anyway...wanted to say hello, introduce myself and give you guys a bit of my journey into vaping!

Looking forward to being a member here!

Ricky

welcome Ricky

Glad to see you get off of the ??? (what? the spitties? I don't know what to call it)

anyway - make sure you have a multimeter to check the resistance of your rebuilt coils and try to stay in the 1.8 - 2.0 ohm range for the best results on a standard ego battery

My Kanger tanks came with a few different ohm heads, 1.8, 2.2, and 2.4, and I like the 1.8 best so that was what I was going to shoot for when rebuilding. Lots of vapor with my eGo twist turned all the way down. I ordered some 30 guage wire...any idea how many wraps needed to get to around 1.8-2.0 ohm range? And thanks for the welcome, both of you guys. :)

I'll try to post this message again flakey WiFi keeps kicking me off but. Rebuilding the protank heads is a blast just get a pair of electricians tweezers and some wire cutters they come in super handy and if you choose to pursue rebuildables as a hobby buy quality and buy once otherwise you'll be stuck in my boat explaining to my wife why I have fifteen of them and still want more been there done that. But I'm pursuing an nzonic v4 from madz modz at the moment to go with my kayfun lite plus that I just got from shop.vaperev.com the nzonic can be found at mountainoakvapors.com

Hello, welcome to ECF and congrats on quitting. Protank heads/coils are pretty easy to rebuild. So are the Vivi Nova's for that matter. Love the mini davide/mini protanks.

Hi Ricky, using a 1/16 drill bit, micro coil, about 9 or 10 wraps of 30ga. will get you to around 1.8ohms. As DJ said, make sure you check your resistance (and check for shorts) before you fire it. You might find it a little tricky to get a 10 wrap coil into the space required, I think I used to use 32ga for protanks / EVODs with about a 7 or 8 wrap...

Welcome :toast:

I am pretty sure there is a chart posted which list what length of wire, for what guage, will give what ohms.

But once you have a meter, you can use the meter directly to measure what length of wire will give you the 2 ohms. (just remember to check your 0 on the meter.)

Make sure to add a bit of wire as you are going to need some length to work with, just makes it easier. You can mark the wire with a marker to the desired length you need!
