Hello from a new member. Typed out detailed intro post - LOST IT ALL.

So far, first experience posting on this forum totally sucks. Not saying the forum sucks in any way...

I had registered and logged in, and typed out a bunch of detail about my background and experience and gear and stuff, edited, clicked "Submit New Thread", and it redirected me to log in again and deleted my entire post. So... instead, THIS is what I guess I am posting. Hello everyone. Sorry, I no longer feel like offering any details at the moment. Once I get over my shock and disappointment in losing all that work, I'm sure I'll feel better about investing any more time on this. LOL.

Anyway, thanks to all the veterans and new folks I've learned from while lurking over the last few months.

Sorry for the trouble you had. I don't know what happened, but I used to get kicked out every few minutes and would have to log in again. Ever since they upgraded the site, I don't have that anymore. At any rate, welcome to the forum, and hope your experiences from here on out are better than your first :)

Thank you, pwheeler. I appreciate that. I'm sure it'll be fun to participate here, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered registering. :)

Most of the time that type of malfunction is user-error. Just wish I would have saved my stuff somewhere else before I attempted to post it here. It was basically a little multi-point description of what we did to get the most out of our beginner starter kits, cheap battery units, and Kanger tanks, and stuff the wife and I have our eye on in terms of mech mods and atties. Has probably all been posted on here before anyway.

I hate when that happens, and welcome! I'm not sure if this may be a factor, but make sure when you sign in you tick the box that says "Remember Me". Also, depending on your browser, you can get an app or add-on that saves what you type. I think in Firefox one is called 'Lazarus'. Even with it though, I've been burned too many times and I try to remember to copy my post before I hit submit.

Hi Jaffo

Same thing happened to me (I am a new member today also). Registered. Logged in. Typed a whole bunch of stuff about my kit (nothing special) and about the ejuices I have tried, only to get hit with the login page after hitting submit. And yes, after logging in, it never went back to all the stuff I typed.... And I, like you, didn't bother to type it all again.

It seems there is some auto-time-out, which logs you out after some period of "inactivity". Of course typing a long post is considered inactivity at the other end. Not yet worked out how long that period is though! But lesson learnt.... if I want to post anything complicated, I will do it elsewhere then cut and paste.

Nice to know I'm not the only one this happened to:) I also am a newby and lost 2 posts before I caught on about timimg out. I also must confess I am a senior citizen and not the greatest on a computer,my typing style is "Seek and ye shall find" so takes me awhile to type out a message. I find it so great that so many are joining this forum, there really is strength in numbers and from the look of things we are going to need numbers to keep Vaping accesable to the Millions of smokers that we need to rescue. Hope all of you are working on friends and family to switch and then fight to keep it legal. to all like me Keep on Vaping on :)

Oh, just found the answer maybe. After having it log me out again during typing a post (I had copied the content anyway) and logging in again, I noticed a button that said "restore auto-saved content".

I didnt use the button as (this time) I had the post on the clipboard anyway..... but I was aware that I didnt see the button last time around, and maybe that would have recovered my post. We will never know now :)

I don't know how frequent the autosave is....

Hey! Old lurker here (from 2009 and I have 10 posts, brap) - heed my advice: depending on your browser, there's plug-ins that can save you a migraine by saving any inputed text in a text window. For example, I use Chrome and have invested (and by invested, I mean freely downloaded) an extension called "Lazarus: Form Recovery". Their tagline: "Autosaves everything you type so you can easily recover from form-killing timeouts, crashes and network errors." Get something like that and you'll never look back or worry about timeouts again.
