Hiya Jay! I hear great things about the vaping community in Houston! I'm sure you can easily find local stuff going on you can participate in and meet others into vaping. I lived in Houston for about 15 years and kinda miss it sometimes... except the flooding and heat and humidity... maybe I don't miss it all that much. :p Have a blast and don't be a stranger! :D

Hello from Houston TX,
I've been vaping for about 6mos, and was a analog smoker for about 25 yrs.
Joined ECF a while back looking for some infos about vaping and decided to say hello.
Looking foward to be more active and be involved with local events.
Thanks,
-Jay

Hiya Jay! I'm also a noob from Texas (Irving/Dallas), and also smoked analogs for about 25 years! I've been vaping now for about 1.5 weeks with no analogs since I started, and loving it! This place is great - best info I've found online, and so far an amazing community. Look forward to seeing you around :)

Guess another Texan should check in. I am one of the minority ones. See I quit smoking over 6 years ago without any problems and never looked back. Now I have decided to start vaping to kill downtime during my day. I paid a visit to Vaporescence in Richardson for my birthday on Wednesday and bought my first PV, a Ego-T in emerald green with a manual battery. Got some wintergreen 0mg to see how I like it and I think I will move up to 6mg flavors.

I've seen more non-smokers (or ex-smokers) starting to vape lately (non-nicotine), specially at night scenes (clubs, restaurants and bars). I guess vaping pvs (like e-cigs) are becomming more of a fashionable item nowadays than just a tool to quit analog smoking. Awesome.

Hi there, Isoplus, from another Houstonian (Meyerland area). Unfortunately, you just missed a vape gathering on Aug 6th over in the Greenway Plaza area. If you look at the Groups/Clubs listed on ECF, you will see that there are two of them in Houston. Keep watching the Houston Vapors section, because we are supposed to have a meet about every 2 mos. Last one was my very first time, and it was a ball to be around so many Houston vapers. Probably a turn out of 30-40 people.... all age groups/types of folks.

Hmm I never thought about it as fashionable but I guess maybe that would help to some extent for people to get into it. I am 45 so not much clubbing here. For some reason I was just drawn to it after discovering it through someone at work who is trying to quit smoking. Not sure how well it is working out for them as they still smoke but have two different PV with them as well. I think after a few months of it they are not committed to leaving analogs or joining the vape club.

Thanks for the info, sounds really interesting. I'll be sure to look into it :)

I think you are right. Since I quit smoking (pack a day for 25 yrs) and joined the club (vaping), many of my peers (including my wife) decided to give vaping a go as a mean to quit analog cigarette. But as you said, not everyone was successful in quitting smoking. About one third of them had very smooth transition, and theothers just went back to smoking.
Now I order e-liquids on internet and my wife buys virgina slims from Sam's club...
