Hi there.....I am very new to vaping (one day)....and I currently smoke about a pack a day of what I see are called "analogs" here. I just received my starter kits today..........I got two, one with a manual battery, the other automatic. I wanted a pure tobacco flavor, at least for now while I'm still on the regular cigs. Since I only started vaping this evening after everything got charged up, I have NOT had an analog in the last 5 hours and that NEVER happens.

I have been looking at posts on this forum for a couple of days and am dismayed to find out that some states are considering bans, and the government is trying to figure out ways to recoup the cigarette taxes. I think something like this is the only thing that has a shot at getting me to quit analogs.........and I've smoked for several decades and have tried everything else out there to quit. Problem is, I never really wanted to quit because I really enjoy smoking. But lately it's been really pi***ing me off having to always go outside in freezing or nasty weather, and listening to everyone's crap. So I thought I'd give these a try and so far, I'm pretty excited about them. I also see there's quite a lot to learn about so many options to use. :)

Welcome Calypso! I do know its scary to think about the possible bans - I get so mad because I KNOW that vaping has helped so many people save their lives. Congrats on making the decision to vape. I too enjoyed smoking very much - but luckily as soon as I got my first kit about six and a half months ago - I was able to switch right to vaping and now I love that MUCH more than I ever loved smoking. Tastes so much better...I think you'll have a lot of fun! Best of luck to you in your continued journey. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask - there are so many extremely knowledgeable and friendly people here to help you... :)

Thank you.......Even though I've been lurking here for awhile, I have to say I'm a little overwhelmed with all the options out there and the "mods" and what to buy/try, etc. There seems to be a lot of "stuff" that a lot of ppl here use, with tanks and juices, drip tips, different batteries..........wow. One question I have: is it really worth it to have all that stuff when there are kits out there where you just charge and vape? Do they taste/work that much better?

Welcome to vaping and the forum.

Using E-cigs in public places is banned in our lovely Garden State thanks to Big Pharma and Lautenberg. No mall kiosks around here.

Are you north, central, or south Jersey?

I'm at the good old Jersey Shore! I guess Big Pharma is against it because they run most of the world anyway and want you to buy their nic patches/gum (which made me sick and never worked), the government is mad because they now need to find ways to tax it, and Big Tobacco of course doesn't want anyone to quit cigarettes. I'm just tired of being told what I can or can't do, as I remember the days when we had something called FREEDOM.

You will soon find out that it is worth it to have all the 'stuff'. I am sort of middle of the road, but you will find people here who collect tons of mods and tanks. It is just a fun hobby... :) Don't feel so overwhelmed - you will get it. I know, because I felt like you too in the beginning and believe me it all falls into place.

I only use three mods, and they all can accept 510. So there is a large option to what you can use, yet always have a mod for the proper time/use. I use my Lava tube while on the computer or driving. I use the ego-w while out and about walking around or hiking. And I still have my blu kit that got me started, and made me get off the analogs for the first time in 19 years. The blu is only really good for when i'm out at a party or bar, and don't want to be asked by 50 people what I am smoking, it goes almost un-noticed. But the bat's are crap, and you have to have 3-4 with you at all times. The tank on my Lava Tube keeps me entertained for a full day when I am home or at my shop doing bench work. The ego-w tanks will last an entire work day for me, but needs a fresh tank when I leave if my lava tube with tank isn't in my car with me. But to each there own, and eventually you will find what you like.

You're right abought Big Pharma...they are the ones who want them banned so that we have to use their stuff that doesn't work. As for Big Tobacco, I look for them to join the bandwagon and start their own line of ecigs. As for the government, yep, lets tax the hell out of the users. It's a never ending cycle.

Thank you, everyone, for the welcomes! I am amazed, really amazed, I have not had an analog since yesterday. I don't want one! I really can't believe it, as I have tried everything, and I have at times managed to not smoke for a couple of months, but the whole time I was miserable and wanted to kill people, felt like I lost my best friend. I don't feel like that and for the first time, am hopeful this will do the trick. To be able to vape in my house without worrying about smells, possible harm to others, whenever I want is nothing short of a miracle to me.

Hi Calypso, we're neighbors! I live close to Great Adventure. Good luck on your quest to quit the stinkies. I'm 5 months in & I have no problems sticking with vaping. I have no desire to smoke ever again.

I'm a field service rep & I do service at the place that makes the nicotine patches. They have their share of smokers! We have a whole lot of pharma companies here in Jersey & I service a lot of them.
