I've been on here for the last month and its so amazing for information : )
I'm still finding it hard to go solely on ecigs. I've been on rollityourowns (same brand) for the last 30yrs.
Any inspiration or help? would be great.

Greetings fellow Kiwi :). If you are looking to kick the analogues altogether I would suggest looking into an Ego type device. Chances are you've already touched base with the cigalikes. Since nicotine e liquid isn't readily available in NZ you will have to look into shipping ready-to-vape juice or DIY. If you have any questions feel free to ask! :vapor:

Hi, welcome to the ECF! I smoked for 27 years and made the transition without a problem. Started with a cig-a-like then went to an ego. but kept looking for what was missing and needed more. Finally bought a great regulated device, then ventured into re-buildable atomizers, rba's. This is where I found plenty of vape, flavor and nicotine, and made me stop missing smoking, and enjoying vape so thoroughly. Also got into DIY juice then mechanicals.

Finding the right device and atomizer that gives the satisfaction is probably the hardest thing to do, that and dialing in the juice that one likes. It's all a progressive ordeal. I searched, reviewed, compared, shopped, hymned and hawed, then finally found great satisfaction through quality gear. On each step things got better then I'd search on how to improve. The atomizer is the main source of the vape that is being produced, so looking in that direction is the best way to improve ones vape.

What kind of gear are you using and juices vaping? I know it can be done because I have done so.

Good luck and welcome aboard.

Hi!

Random Trivia: NZ replaced Australia in my top 5 places I want to visit in the world.

Now, on to your question:

I love(d) smoking. I enjoyed it, and smoked 2PAD (often more)... until 3d 18.5h ago, that is.

What finally made me put them down?

I found a flavor I really liked (Butter Pecan, made locally by the owners of the B&M up the street). It tasted so good and sweet, within days, it got to the point that I was putting off smoking the 'real' thing more and more, because it messed with the great flavor of my juice! On day 5, having gone from smoking 2PAD on Monday, to 6/day on Thursday, I smoked my last cigarette on Friday when I woke up, and decided that it tasted so nasty, I wasn't going to smoke anymore... I've been ciggie-free since, although the cravings/junkie thinking finally reared its head today, and have no plans to.

N.O.P.E. : Not One Puff Ever

I know me, I know all it will take is one puff to pull me back in to a place I never want to be again.

Best of luck to you, and may you find your flavor nirvana, so you can kick the cancer sticks to the curb and never look back!

A.

Most will say try to increase nicotine level. Others will tell go find a right liquid and kit. they are right. Find a decent beginner kit well. these are all right.
We dont crave for our belowed brand we mostly crave for nicotine so increasing nic level is essential but it doesnt matter if you smoke some along the way. think of the ones you did not smoke (and benefits) not the ones you smoke. With a right set of device, right level of nicotine and a good flavor one day you will not smoke or enjoy the brand anymore. you are in a right path dont feel you are doing wrong

Do you really think so? I want to know if you still crave smoking but behaving manly? Increase nic level my friend.
I never saw anyone who take a puff from the brand he/she enjoyed after vaping and like it. I had a puff for lighting my wifes cigarette on the street I felt nausated.

oh yeah! checked around my little home town and $200.00 for cigarette look a like, 0 nicotine. this was from New World supermarkets and the only 2 local chemists.
Then checked out the liquor stores, one had the ecig which I bought, it comes with 18mg nic I was nearly puking on. Still persevered
but the flavour? maple syrup dipped in nail polish? yeah weird.
I bought the ego kit locally and the tobacco blends of your choice; of which one is sooo good! (I don't know if you can promote or suggest the company? so I won't)
I have to ask, why do the e-liquids turns about 7 times darker amber coloured after a couple of days and the flavor turns pretty off in my iclear16? I do clean the wicks etc and dry burn. Nooby speak here sorry!

p.s.Lockhart320 I have the nic and have just received 40 or so tfa flavours to try

Well, it's been just shy of 4 days since I put them down, and today was the first day that my brain tried to convince me (halfheartedly and VERY briefly) that I wanted a 'real' cigarette, but they were tasting terrible before I put them down, in fact that's WHY I put them down, HOWEVER, they tasted terrible when I first started, too, and that didn't stop me. What I know is that if I take a puff from a real cigarette, it will give me a buzz. That buzz is why I started back up again after quitting cold turkey for two weeks a few years ago.

As far as upping the nicotine, I'm smoking 30 right now... can't go higher than that locally without DIY, which I have no interest in doing at the moment.

When I say 'I know me', it's because I know myself. If it gives me a buzz, I'll keep doing it no matter how crappy it tastes... but I don't want to try it just to find out if I'm right or not, lol, that's just crazy. I'll just stick with my N.O.P.E. philosophy, because I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to cigarettes.

As a side note, I hope I'm not acting 'manly' about it, since I've got girly-parts ;)

Hello and welcome to ecf.

Depending on the eliquid, as it ages(air mixes with the nic) tobacco flavors tend to grow a little darker. Aging(steeping) is sometimes a good thing, because it mixes all of the flavors together. Kinda of like when your fav spaghetti dinner tastes better the next night. The flavors have had time to blend. Also, depending on how much you are toking on the ecig and how hot you are allowing the carto/clearo to become can also darken eliquid.
good luck and let us know how it goes.

:)

So how's it all vaping then? And what are you looking for?

For me, down here in the deep south (Otautahi (ChCh)), temperature is potentially a problem with the viscosity. But all good for Summer time - it's been hot as hell to be honest :) I look for a decent vape cloud, but it's not the main thing; I wanna replicate the throat hit and still get (or satisfy?) that nicotine hit. I hope in time to drop the nicotine, to zero... eventually. All n' all, I look at vaping as a direct and complete replacement for smoking. It's not perfect even at the best, but it's close enough, for me anyway, to have (hopefully) kicked the analogues.

What *I* wanna know is, where do I get some blunt tip needles? Warehouse? Bunnings? - I dunno :)

Good philosophy. The buzz you receive from 'smoking' is actually the robbing of oxygen from your brain. You will not find that in ecigs, as the delivery of the nic is totally different than that of the analogue.
I usually say, smoking is like drinking whiskey and the ecig is like drinking beer. Both will get you drunk. The beer just takes longer.

Nic from ecigs is delivered thru the mouth, nose and throat mostly, so that very little actually enters the lung. Some don't even inhale but just hold the vapor in their mouths for a few seconds. Me, I vape like I smoked. I smoked way to long to stop the inhalation part.

Good luck
:)

Hello frangipani, I never had a reason to join this forum- but I want to share my experience because I was in your shoes until recently: I was a die hard smoker. I absolutely loved smoking. Loved it. And will always love the idea of it. Call me a romantic I suppose! But like all of us, I didnt want to die of lung cancer, so I tried to stop smoking. I read lots of posts about people here who bought an ecig and lived happily ever after... That wasn't my experience. I bought an ecig, and thought it would be that simple. But it wasn't, It just didn't do it for me and I kept slipping back onto real cigarettes- partly because I had the wrong cig, juice and expectations, but also because I was just too damn weak. I eventually ended up on nicotine gum, which I chewed relentlessly, until I had one too many glasses of wine, at which point I would smoke a friends cigarette, and repeat the cycle. As demoralising as this was at the time, the whole experience came together for me: I learnt about ecigs, by having a couple of rubbish ones before finding a decent enough ego, I also learnt what juice worked for me ( I was an avid Rollie smoker like you, and initially set out to replicate the 'real' taste, but, to my surprise I ended up loving menthol juice. Now it's all I vape), but I also found an effective method (for me) to manipulate myself into being entirely content with vaping. This is what I did: I got my ecig all ready to go, got a good supply of a juice I liked (i find changing juices often effects my psychological attachment to vaping). Then chose a day and stopped smoking cigarettes completely, but instead of trying to jump straight onto the ecig and try and convince myself I was content, I made a decision to suffer the pain and only chew nicotine gum for a whole week. At the end of the week I picked up my ego and off I went. For me this was effective because it helped to stop me making the inevitable comparison between cigarettes and vaping, but also, after no cigarette for a week, I was just so pleased to be able to get the throat hit i craved, blow out the vaper, and go through the rituals, that I was finally able to be content. Anyway that's my story. Good luck with yours ; )
