Hello, all! Just wanted to introduce myself and give a bit of background. New to vaping for a month or so. I've struggled with tobacco for the last 15 years. 8 years of light smoking, 5 years of frequent snuff use and lastly, quite a struggle with cigar smoking. An occasional weekend cigar turned into a daily thing. Disgusted with myself, I began considering alternatives. I've always been an active runner and weight lifter and my performance has struggled to say the least. I only know one close friend who vapes. (We live in the sticks.) I learned a bit from him and did much research. I finally settled on a Joytech EGO AIO and some tobacco flavored e-juice from my local vape shop. I hated it at first honestly, but I slowly began to enjoy it. A few weeks ago I got my first mod, an Eleaf istick pico. After a week or so, I swapped the stock melo 3 mini tank for a Tobeco supertank mini. I tried several coils, and now I'm settled on the triton 0.5 claptons @ 40w or so depending on my mood. (Tobeco stock 0.5 ohms rock too!) I seem to prefer fruity/tropical juices. My fav so far is "Witch Doctor" a pineapple/strawberry/blueberry custard @ 6mg made by my local e-juice mad scientist. This setup is absolutely perfect for me in every way. I enjoy the vape from this setup FAR more than I EVER enjoyed any tobacco product. (The gf is much happier too!) It is absolutely blissful. This has changed my health and life so much and for the better. I just hope I can provide the inspiration and knowledge to my tobacco using friends and family if they ever get the urge to seek alternatives. You all rock, and have provided me such a wealth of knowledge as I spied these forums during my transition. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart! 35 days tobacco free and I have never felt so free! Good day, everyone!

Hi and welcome! Congrats on past the one month point!

It is interesting how once you find a vape setup that works for you not only can the cigarettes fall by the wayside, but it just plain becomes preferable. After smoking for so many years and trying every method out there to quit, finding vaping was salvation.

You'll find lot of friendly and helpful people here so feel free to ask anything that will keep you vaping. BTW, the steps you took, from the AIO up to the Pico are really good and you've been getting good advice to start out with. Lots of folks start with cigalikes that very expensive and taste lousy, then move on to expensive setups that never work out quite tight before getting a system that works (like me).

Thanks for the kind words, Eskie! I agree completely, and use of the word salvation is on point. I'm around a lot of cig and cigar smokers and honestly, the aroma is quite literally, nauseating to me now. There's no way I could ever consider smoking tobacco again, when a few quality drags on my pico is far more satisfying and downright delicious. I think the thing that kept me away from vaping for so long at first was my ignorance and the overwhelming amount of products and the technical nature of the infinite amount of mod/tank/coil possibilities. Ironically enough, that's something about vaping I very much love now! With the knowledge and a little creativity, you can taylor a vaping setup to whatever your heart desires. Cool stuff!

After a few months of vaping and not smoking, I found it hard to hang around smoking areas like at the airport as the smell was too nasty. Pretty soon (if not already) you'll notice tastes you might have missed before while eating, your clothes no longer smell, and as you pointed out, your family and friends around you are happy to see you not smoking.

Oh yeah, you got that right.
I just hope I can provide the inspiration and knowledge to my tobacco using friends and family if they ever get the urge to seek alternatives.
I got the same relatives you have, too technical for them to get their heads around vaping complexities. To top it off, they won't ask for expert (any) advice.
