Hello folks!
I'm in tech consulting business and i got in habit of smoking while i was in college. for about past year, i've picked up carving briar tobacco pipes which really doesn't help since i smoke a pipe while working. now that my oldest is 9 years old, i thought it's time for me to try something different.
i'm not exactly addicted to nicotine but i crave the whole action of smoking. so i've decided to give vaping a shot. for having treehugger for a wife, i needed to find more "natural" e-liquids. when i was visiting facebook office, one of the guys told me to lookup Virgin Vapors & this site. After forgetting the name of this forum, i went to Virgin Vapors and they recommended Kanger Protank II and the Vision Spinner setup. i should get them in the mail today (if the weather is good).

now that i got all that crap out of the way, here are some questions to veterans!

1) Kanger Protank II and the Vision Spinner & e-liquid is the only thing i bought so far, what else would i need to keep vaping?

2) is Kanger Protank II and the Vision Spinner good to start with?

3) i've been hearing about custom mods & such. where should i start to learn how to make one? i'm gadget head and i love knowing how things work & build them ^_^

thanks guys

Welcome to the forum, and glad you are making this good decision for yourself. You need to get your 5 newcomer posts out of the way, and then you can post in other parts of the forum.

There are lots of folks here who can answer your questions and help you with custom mods, etc. If you are a gadget head, you will fit right in for sure. This is a huge forum with lots of information, so take your time and cruise around.

Definitely get some atomizer heads, your going to want to get some for the future. get some sample packs of juices so your not dissapointed if you don't like them, being stuck with juices you don't like is the worst feeling ever. as far as making your own mod, It doesn't seem that hard if you have the right material to do so. I too am interested in finding out where I would go to find the materials needed.

Thanks for all the warm welcome ^_^

Hello onezerosix! Welcome to ECF! You might need a backup rig so you can continue to vape while you are charging a battery or doing tank maintenance.

I didn't think of back up rig. Being a pipe smoker, that's very common practice...
Should it get something different? Or should I stick with the same setup for backup?

welcome neighbor ! vaping is really taking off in middle tennessee....
a kanger evod and a spare battery is a cheap way to back up your existing rig...you might (with a little shopping research) be able to pick this up for cheap online along with some sample sized bottles of liquid all at once and save on shipping..best of luck on your journey.

I think that would be an excellent back up. I own this kit and I got it from Vaping Me. It's free shipping, and if you use the code ECF at checkout, you get 10% off making it about $30! Also it comes with 2 batteries, 2 evod tanks, and a charger. It is a great little kit and I love mine.

They run a nice shop at Vaping Me and I've ordered from them many times.

so, just now, USPS dropped off my 1st (and hopefully not the last) kit! i got the battery hooked up to the battery charger to my USB waiting for that red light on the charger to go green lol
now i got this going, all i got left is wait for the battery to charge, and read different threads on this site :D

how do you guys clean your goods? your vaping goods that is.

thanks!

Nashville Vapor on Charlotte Ave is a good spot to go check things out. They also have some good e-liquids like their Master Blend which has been reviewed here and found to be delicious.. There is also a place on West end down by Vandy called Vulcan Vapes if that's closer. Best of luck Neighbor -Dave

Thanks Dave!
I'll have to check these places out! ^_^
My kids goes to school close to Vandy & my office in Green Hills so I may have to take a trip during my lunch :D

To start off, it's great that you're wanting to make the transition to vaping. From what you've mentioned, every one in your family benefits from it! Now, to address some of your concerns;

1. You'll need to buy some replacement coils for your Kanger Protank 2. On average, a head can last anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks depending on how heavy someone vapes. Keep this in mind when purchasing replacements so you get an idea of how long you'll want to go without buying more. You can find these replacement heads for a fair price here:

Replacement Heads

2. The Vision Spinner is a great battery to start your journey off with. It has a decent amount of battery life and the option of adjusting voltage to accommodate different juices and toppers. I will be honest with you though and tell you that the Kanger Protank 2 will give you some problems. It's a great tank, but countless people will tell you that when your tank gets below half full, it starts to flood/gurgle/leak quite a bit. Have no fear though, because you can buy the Kanger Aerotank adjustable airflow sealed base to resolve the majority of this issue for about $6 if you're about to find it online in-stock. I'd also recommend to you the Kanger Protank 2 Mini. It's a little lower in tank capacity, but there's never a flood, gurgle or a leak from that bad boy. It's a phenomenal clearotank for the price.

Kanger Protank 2 Mini - Uses the same replacement heads as your Protank 2.
Aerotank Base - This is what you'd be looking for, given that it's in stock. You can join the waiting list to be notified of it's restocking as well.

3. I'm truthfully not sure where you should start with this, as I've never dove into it. However, I'm sure you could learn a thing or two in this section:
