Hey everybody. this is an awesome place. I am fairly new to vaping, but i think i have found what is good for me. TW tornado with lucid clear tank carts. my question is this. Both of my parents are extremely interested in vaping, however, neither one of them are very "tech savvy". i want to get them both a kit for their upcoming anniversary. before you guys start throwing suggestions my way, let me give you some info on my folks. both are 58, dad travels for work, mom works in foodservice. as i said before not very good with tech stuff. i need something that was easy to use, low maintenance, and low maintenance cost, i.e. not buying stuff every week. my first thought was an ego type device with cartomizers. long life low maintenance. what do you guys think? suggestions?

From what I can tell you don't have to buy stuff every week, but the issue is if you have access to the internet and forums like this you want to buy stuff every week. Don't know the best and longest lasting, I'm new to it as well. But I'd tell them to get like a box mod/roughstack kind of thing and a few cartomizers. Not much refilling or battery changing that way

I would tell you to start off with the Ego-1000mAh Batts for your power source, if they each have 2 of those Batts they will never run out of power or need to charge during they day so spend a bit more and deffinitely get the 1000mAh Batts and kit. Now for what they are going to get the most enjoyment fro i highly subjective. I would have to suggest some geed LR Attys like the Iken 2ohm 510 Atty's they are just right. I just got some of the Giantomizers for my Ego Batts and I'm liking them so far too. Also Ikenvape dot com sells the best carto's in my opinion too, his V2 Gold cartos are just dam good and he now also sells a Mega 510 LR Carto that holds lots of fluid and vapes very well. Get some good Delrin drip tips because they will get a tastier vape dripping and more vapor, your pops may like this more than mom possibly but the drip tips are cheap so grab 4-6 of them, the longer ones are better. I would stay away from the Ego T Atty's for a starter kit for now and just go basic LR-510 Atty's with a drip tip and some decent cartomizers, as well as some of these newer Giantomizers and get those bigger Ego 1000mAh Batts 4 sure. Just my opinion what do I know right, hahah

I think the eGo type device with cartomizers sounds perfect. I've used the eGo and the Riva (eGo clone but just as good and a little cheaper) for months and months and love them. You can get a Riva for $29.99 at E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings -- make sure you hit the 20% off button top left of the home page...and look for the "lite bundle" Riva. Get the 510. Make sure the cartomizers you get are the BOGE type. Some of the cartomizers you can get have to be filled with a syringe and would be too much of a hassle, I'm afraid. If LF is out of BOGE cartos, find them somewhere else. I say this because I got some Joye cartomizers from there and they were really a pain to fill. I just think the BOGE would be best. You can get either 2.0ohm or 3.0ohm cartos....I really like the 2.0ohm ones....they have an easier draw, and a little warmer draw. Anyway, you might want one for yourself, too (a LF Riva kit, that is)....that's the lowest price you'll find, and they're great pvs.

BTW, I'm older than either of your parents, but you might be surprised at how age has very little to do with anything. Your folks may be buying 5v box mods before you know it.....lol.

the idea of a mod is good, but somthing that at least resembles a smoking device would probably be better. and how many fills can you get out of a cartomizer before its toast??? please keep in mind that any replacement stuff they would need will have to be ordered by me. they live in the middle of nowhere and internet connection is iffy at best. also the idea of something that is compatible with my stuff (510 i think) would be benificial.

You can get the cartos in decent sized packs, pretty cheap too. Maybe like a tube mod? it's cylindrical, put a battery in that thing and you're set. cartos last a while, and you can show them how to repack them with teabags. Not much work

I'm guessing you're thinking of cartridges (carts) rather than cartomizers (cartos) theredball. :) Carts can be modded with tea bags, fluvall, etc. while cartos are either use til they wear out and toss, or flush, dry and re-use. I've seen a few people with the delicacy and patience to tear open a carto and replace the batting, but not many. Personally I'd rather put pants on a pig than try it.

Honestly I would say a ProVape with LR cartos or Fluxomizers. The battery life will last them through the day and refills will be minimal. I have a ProVape and ProVari and for no nonsense use I would seriously suggest the ProVape. Its stout and always performs. Never a bad choice.

lol!! their age has nothing to do with their technological ability. when they finally got a computer i had to write directions out for them starting with 1. plug in tan cord.... also what is a BOGE cartomiser??? what is so different about them?

headson, it just a brand. There are so many kinds of cartomizers out these days that I just wanted to suggest a good one that was easy to refill. Some of the cartos out are tricky and you have to have a syringe to fill them. BOGE is the name of a company and their cartos are easy because you just pop the top off and drip juice in on the filler until it's soaked. They are sold at E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings and lots of other places. That's all. I'm just trying to suggest things that will keep it simple for them (and you) at least until they get "launched."

JCnewbie, thanks for clearing that up, i thought they were some kind of new cartomizer technology. (cause new technology in the e-cig world is few and far between *sarcasm) i think the eGo, riva, tornado, etc. etc.etc and easily fillable cartomisers will be pretty good for them. can anyone tell me how many fills you get from a carto? i need to know how many to order initially.

You might want to get several different smaller amount of ejuice to start out for them. 10 cartos each i guess shoudl be ok. And if you haven't try those, you might want to get a pack for urself. And learn to fill them before teaching your parents.

If you getting the boge cartomizer this video might be able to help you
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y10Xeiudydc

there several parts to it, and different ways of filling the cartomizer
