Hello.

I'm a social smoker more than anything else and generally smoke pretty lightly (unless there's drinking involved.... you know how that goes). I saw ecigs a couple years ago and thought they were some sort of gimmick or scam, but a friend bought a cheap one recently and I pulled a few times off of it and, actually, it was pretty pleasant. None of the "burn" or ash taste, but a lot of the tobacco sort of taste - the thing you'd smell off an unburnt cigarette - which is the good bit anyway as far as I'm concerned.

So I'm shopping for something to try this out. They opened a kiosk in my local mall recently for some place called Smoke King, so I'm probably going to go poke around it tomorrow and see what they've got.

It would be nice to be able to "smoke" without the smell that sticks with you all day. Though, let me tell you, there's a TON of info on this website. I don't think I ever considered there could be so many smoking options. I'm neck deep in it, but I'll figure it out with some of your fine assistance I'm sure.

Welcome to ECF an you won't likely regret getting off of the sticks!

My first advise would be to not bother with the kiosk as you will pay much more there than from other vendors. Click the Forum Suppliers tab to see a list of approved vendors here. Search around a few and you will see what I mean. You will also learn that there is a lot to learn and the best place to start is over in the ecf library.

The ECF Library

Go through the Wonderful World of vaping series and you will have a pretty good idea of the variety that is out there and how to utilize the tools of the trade. Other than that read the stickies, ask questions and be prepared to experiment for a bit until you find what works best for you.

STOP do NOT buy from a mall or over priced store that will rip you off !!!!!!!
at the top off the forum page is a button for forum suppliers, these folks will treat you right and sell for 1/2 the price of the mall stores. also in INDY we have our own store the INDYVAPORSHOP these folks are great and will help you make an informed choice. I REPEAT DO NOT BUY AT THE MALL

Welcome to ECF, Dirk...

Puffadder already pointed you towards the library. Definitely poke around there for a bit.

I'm also going to +1 the previous comments on avoiding the mall. There are lot of good hardware vendors out there. You can't go wrong with one from the approved list. I started out with a Mega T-Rex kit from Liberty-Flights.com. It came highly recommended here and I'm glad I went with it. Got me off the smokes.

The above members give great advice. Do not buy at the mall... read the tutorials here... and look at the suppliers on this site.

Even simpler suggestion, as a social smoker you want something easy to use, that isn't gonna break your bank, try a 510 model. It has an analogue cigarette size and will be one of the easiest transitions to e-cigarettes. They are the most popular style at most vendors. Try ecigg.org out of Philadelphia for cheap starter kits.

Most importantly, you will be ditching all the harsh chemicals in regular cigarettes and sticking it to Big Tobacco companies in one fail swoop! Good luck!
