I have been smoking for 30 years now. I love my cigs, but hate smelling like an ashtray and always being out on the hunt to find an acceptable place to smoke. I have tried to quit smoking for years...have tried gum, lozenges, patches, Wellbutrin (which made me almost suicidal) and Chantix which made me extremely paranoid and depressed. My father gave me his e-cig to try "Smoking Everywhere Gold" and do not like it. Have to drag really hard on it and I do not like the burnt taste it has. I went out and bought the njoy Starter kit with the highest level of nicotine and have to say I like this one much better, but the battery doesn't last long at all. I'm constantly having to charge it. Is this normal? I just got the njoy yesterday and have had to charge it 3 times already. This is a pain.

Welcome to ECF, mccrji! Yeah those minis are notorious for their short battery life between charges. Rest assured though, there are MANY alternative "e-cigs" out there with more performance and more battery life! If you aren't opposed to PV that is somewhat larger than the njoy type e-cigs, there are many recommendations! You say you have been a smoker for 30 years now..how many a day did you smoke and what was your go-to ciggy? Also, what would you be looking for in terms of battery life and type of battery, i.e. automatic (being like the NJoy) manual (one where you would hold a button down to vape)?

(an experiment)

No that is not normal for the Njoy from some posts on vaping sites. I would take it back if you can get a refund or a replacement battery. There have been posts on ECF of Njoy users getting a day or more on a battery. Many people use Njoy and find they work very well. You are going to get many recommendations to buy different EC's but there are thousands of people who use Njoy. Njoy is one of the orginal companies going back to 2008.

First, welcome to ECF! I too am a 30+yr smoker (I started on my 16th birthday, sadly). To answer the question: yes, all of the 801's (or minis), which is what your Njoy is, suffer from a short battery life. I am using the V2 system at the moment; I constantly have one charging while I vape the other. Here's the first rule of vaping: the smaller the device, the smaller the battery. The smaller the battery, the shorter the battery life. I you really like the NJoy, I'd recommend having at least 2 batteries, preferably 3. The reason for the 3rd one is so when one of the batteries dies (notice I said when, not if) you can still get by.
That said, as you'll find out from here and other places, there's an almost overwhelming variety of PVs (personal vaporizers) out there. I'd figure out my needs and desires before rushing out and getting the shiniest toy on the market. What I mean are things like:
1) Is it enough to get me off the analogs (traditional cigarettes)
2) Is it important that it look like a traditional cigarette?
3) Is it something I'd be comfortable carrying around with me?
Etc.

In my case, sadly I've figured out that my V2s don't provide enough whatever to completely conquer my cravings for analogs, so I'm moving on to a larger system (the E-power, if you're interested). I still might keep using them in some situations. I'm a professor; as such, I have to lug around a briefcase, books, papers, etc., so being able to carry it in my pocket is pretty essential during the day. So, take your time, do your research and definitely get spare batteries, lol.

welcome I am also a new member here. Been smoking for many years quit for 7 years and got back into it again. Now I been vaping only, for 2 months. I think the best way to find out how you like to vap is to go to a e-cig store in your local area and try out the many different possibilities in vaping. cause if you buy and try you'll end up spending way to much money and possibly go back to smoking cigarettes.

Actually, if you check the Njoy specs, they are NOT 801's. They are RN4081's. An 801 is the largest atomizer made of the major threadings (901, 801, 808, 510, RN4081). And there are plenty of people who state the opposite that the battery life is fine for them with the Njoy product.

HI Pittboss,

I smoke 2 packs of Sonoma full flavor 100's a day. I personally like the automatic like the NJoy. I want it as close to being like a real cig without it actually being a cig. LOL

Well if that is the case, you might try Halo's G6 (halocigs.com) or the Volt e-cigs (smokelessimage.com). Honestly though, you are going to still be disappointed with the batteries with the exception of the Volt X2, as you are not a light smoker. The X2 is going to be a bit bigger than the traditional minis due to its increased battery size, however.

I wish there was a place around here that had a bunch of different types of E-Cigs to try out. I hate dumping a bunch of money into a product without testing it out first.

Completely understandable. To my knowledge there is no brick and mortar around these parts, so in the beginning (and even now) it's all about asking the right questions and checking out YouTube video reviews and the such, in order to gain any ground. You could also check into a location specific thread here at ECF and see if there are any other vapers or possibly stores around where you could try out equipment, liquids and the such. After 5 posts, and about an hour, you will be able to post there as well. Not too sure how much help that will be, but a start none the less.

Thanks Pittboss!

Classwife... I don't need to pull hard on the NJoy. With the other one that my father gave me to try you had to drag really hard on it to get anything to come out. I am enjoying the NJoy, just not the battery life of it. I like the size of it and the feel of it. I like the taste of the highest nic level. What would be a comparable brand to the NJoy?

If you check post #11 at the top of this page, I threw out a couple of similar "minis" that might interest you, with links. For their class of e-cig, they should do you very well. Might not hurt to grab a couple extra batteries though so you wouldn't have to go without!

Most people here on the forums like the Volt, at Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarettes | Wholesale Electronic Cigarettes | E-Cigarette | Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarette. I'm smoking V2 (website Electronic Cigarettes | E Cigarette | V2 Cigs), but it's a lot more expensive. If I had known about this forum, I'd have gone with the Volt. If you go with the volt, don't get anything cheaper than the standard kit, as it has 2 batteries (see above, lol). Fork out the extra couple of bucks and get the 78mm batteries, as they'll have a slightly longer life than the 65mm. With the minis, the longer the battery, the longer the life. I'd also suggest getting one auto and one manual (newbies generally prefer the auto, as it most lines up with smoking, the manual because it gives you more control).

I don't blame you. You may just have a defective battery. Was there a warranty with your purchase? Njoy use to give 6 months if I remember correctly. You should be getting plenty of hours of use out of Njoy based on some other Njoy user comments.
