Hello, I am new to these forums. Been vaping for about 1.5 years now. Have had a odd cig every now and then but pretty much only when I can't vape for whatever reason. It has really helped me. My lungs feel great, I diy my own juice so I am saving a ton of money, my clothes don't smell and I can vape just about anywhere.

I've been having a look around these forums and some of the mods I see are just mind blowing. I am not at that level yet but hope I can some day make my own mod as well.

Hey Scy123, and everyone else! I'm a new member here too and been vaping almost as long as you have....it'll be 1 yr the first week of Sept. I LOVE it!!! I'm so glad I finally quit with the smoking; been way too many years!! I love how my clothes don't smell like smoke, my bedding, my curtains, my carpets....I'm sure you all know what I'm saying...the smell that I never noticed was so strong on me that I can now pick up on others in a second.

Anyhow, I started off with a joytech eGo-T starter kit and have tried different batteries, tanks, cartomizers, single coils, dual coils, bottom loader, top loaders and just honestly can't get that great umph that I'm so desperately searching for all the time!! I'm currently using a couple vision spinners with a kanger protank mini 3 and an innokin i30 that I swap between. I get different opinions as to what coils to use regarding whether it's a 1.5 or 2.0 in the kanger tank or 2.1's or less ohms in the i30.

There are people who work in the shops who have always recommended the higher ohm'ed coil and then just yesterday in a different shop a guy was baffled as to why I wanted a 2.0 ohm coil as opposed to a 1.6 ohm. I truly didn't have any good answer for him but that I have always been told I wanted a 2.0 ohm and have always just followed that advice...regardless if it was right or wrong depending on what type of vape I enjoy.
I am not knowledgeable in this kind-a stuff, however, am not ignorant on the subject either....I mean...I can easily learn and understand if someone was to explain things in basic terms.....

In addition to my being totally confused on this, I'm also stuck on wanting to move up to a higher voltage/wattage mod because I'm thinking with more options available to me in addition to having higher voltage and higher wattage accessibility, I will get that great throat hit that I love, much more flavor and an all around better vape than what I'm getting with what I'm using now.....been researching the i-tazte mvp v2, the smok groove II, the HCigar DNA 20 & 30 & others along the way...

Are there any of you guys out there who can give me some ideas or thoughts on any of this? I'd love to chat with everyone!!

Thanks for having me here at ECF and I look forward to meeting & chatting with everybody out there!!

I know the feeling. The local ecig shop here used to be great when the owner was working. Now he has hired people who don't know anything but how to sell you general stuff. I don't even ask them questions anymore cause they don't know what they are talking about.

to ecf Scy123. So glad you are here. There are so many perks to vaping. Isn't it wonderful? Good luck to you and happy vaping. :)

Welcome! I have a Groove 2 that I love but I would stick with an ego twist or other variable voltage batteries for a bit until you know about the difference between Variable voltage and variable wattage. That being said you really can't hurt yourself with a Groove 2 so it's really your choice. Keep learning and advancing in this wonderful hobby, enjoy the journey and stay safe. And ask questions, there are no stupid questions!!

Hey philfish! Thanks for your input! And yes....I am not in any way an expert when it comes to vv/vw.....I honestly don't know what the difference is between the two, or which gives what power to where....so I think I will do just that and take your advice a bit further and actually do some web researching on volts, watts, ohms, etc....thanks for putting that idea in my head!! Much appreciated!!

happy day!! ck

Hey Scy! I know, right? Especially when I'm coming to them "assuming" that they are more knowledgeable on the subject than I am and can truly help me! This was one of the main reasons I joined ECF....I finally stopped surfing the pages and forums looking for sporadic answers or for others who have asked questions similar to what I'm trying to learn/understand and just actually do it myself! Hey....what a concept!! HA HA!!

Anyhow....thanks for chatting and I will most likely see you around the forum/s!!

Have a happy day....ck

as a side note, you should probably post your question in a new thread... more likely to get the answers you are looking for!

But just incase anyone on this thread is having the same dilemma:
For those new to vaping I usually say you cant go wrong with an MVP2 and an evod/protank2 mini on top - or a nautilus mini bvc if you are willing to spend more for a better vape experience.
The MVP2 is a great box - most people that have them LOVE them. I think it is most common for people to upgrade their Ego batteries to this device - double the battery life if not more. vv/vw to play with, and plenty of power for clearos/cartos. there is a pretty low learning curve with this device, and its a set it and forget it mod for the most part. Additionally there are no extra batteries or chargers to buy for this device.

Since you've been in it a bit and have been looking around at different mods and such I'd say you could go 2 ways:
1) MVP2 is great for those who use Clearos/Cartos but want a bit more power to them.
2) 20/30w mods (Yihi mods are also pretty good according to the reviewers) are usually more for rebuildables (RBA - rebuildable atomizer) but some people still use them with clearos - IMO you are buying a Ferrari to take your kids to school in that case. (I do prefer the screens/error messages on these over devices like the MVP2, but its at a higher price point and you really dont need the extra wattage & amps for your clearo).

variable voltage (vv) means you can customize your power.
Most single coil clearomizers vape best at 8w (im not sure if the same rule applys to dual coil heads). on a vv device, that means you have to do some math based on the resistance of the coil (head) you are using... or atleast adjust the voltage to find that "sweet spot" again. its less of a chore with vw.
Variable wattage (vw) device is more of a set it and forget it device - you can set it at 8w and you get a similar vape based on the coil you have. to adjust for more or less power (some juices perform better at lower/higher wattages).

1.6 ohmcoils heat up faster for a warmer vape - 2 ohm coils take longer to heat, and usually give a cooler vape. Heatup time translates into having to "puff" longer or giving more powered "primer" puffs.

hth - sorry if someone else answered this here before I got this out, I got distracted :S

Hi H.E.!

Yeah....I sort of thought about how I should've posted this originally in it's own thread after the fact :) You're absolutely right about that!

As far as all your other thoughts....Thank you BUNCHES!! This is pretty much exactly what I was searching for (explanation of some of the differences between vv, vw, etc....). You've put it into terms that I totally "get" and now have a better idea of which way to go.

About the DNA 20/30w mods....yeah, I see how that's the ferrari in the school pick up line :p and now realize that since I'm not doing any rebuilding myself (yet, anyway...) I probably do not need to go that far right now...

Thanks for your time and all your input! It's truly much appreciated!!

Happy day to you! ck

Hey Jamie!! Wonderful!! Thanks so much for your thoughts!! It's funny because when I first started out I thought I would never see myself doing any of the rebuilding "stuff"....ever. Now, I find myself very interested in learning about it! So, to answer your question if I've looked into rebuildable tank attys, no....not yet. But am thinking I may want to learn all about this in the near future because the more I see people who vape this way and the more I see it on you tube or read about it....I really think it's the way I want to go to get the most out of my vaping.

I will definitely look into the fogger V4 and thank you for sending that info my way!! Much appreciated..
