Greetings to all!

My wife and I quit our ~15 yr. smoking habits about 6 weeks ago. Since then, she's been using an e-cig kit we got at a local store (PureSmoke, I think), and I ordered an eGo kit for her that should be arriving any day now. I've been using nicotine gum a few times a day, and I'm thinking of getting my own e-cig kit too, if I like the eGo.

No relapses yet. :)

One thing I was hoping someone would help with. I've been lurking quite a bit, and I just finished reading the thread called "cart mod better refilling". It's a sticky in the Tips and Tricks forum.

I love the ingenuity and creativity, but something clicked when I heard of people using stripped wiring and one of the posters mentioned lead.

At least some of the colored plastic coating used on wiring does contain lead - enough to have caused cases of lead poisoning in electricians who habitually chewed it on the job.

Hmm, seems I'm not allowed to post links. Well, anyone who wants to check on this can do a search for:

electricians chewing wire lead

...and check any of the links, such as those from the CDC or ELCOSH.

Perhaps I misunderstood what those posters were using, but it seemed as if they *were* talking about using this plastic coating (with the wire stripped out of it) as a sort of straw to mod their carts. I don't wish to seem alarmist, but if there's a chance of lead exposure from either heating the plastic OR from it sitting in the juice, I just wanted folks to be aware of this possible risk -- especially if they could just as easily use something else instead.

Since I'm not allowed to post there, any chance someone could point to this post in that thread? Or just mention it so folks can Google it themselves?

Thanks,
Adam

Compared to the garbage we had in cigarettes.... I am not worried about it. I have built stained glass windows for 20 years and must admit I am not overly "careful". My blood lead levels are 1. Now, these people chewing on wires could be entirely different, comparing it to ingestion of paint chips....takes a lot to increase lead levels. Just my own findings.
