Hello forum!
My name is Alex, I'm 22 years old and live in Connecticut. I am new to the forum so I figured I'd say hi to all of you guys. I started last year with an MVP 2 and some iClear tanks and I got hooked. I ended up subscribing to Zamplebox (great juice service for any beginners) and purchased a ton of evod tanks to try all the flavors. Over time my coils went and I had used all the extras I had so my vape kind of just sat there for a while. After putting down the MVP I went about 6 months without a regular cigarette and then I started up a little bit here and there. So fast forward to this NYE, my cousin bought that new Aspire sub-ohm battery and an Atlantis tank and boy was I impressed. A week later I headed down to my local shop to take a look and left with nothing but a ton of choices so I did some research.

I ended up purchasing my first mech mod - the MCV Panzer and a Kanger Subtank since my research for the atlantis showed me a better option (for me of course- wanting to get into actual sub-ohm building). The tank being 25mm in diameter might have scared some away, but finding the stylish Philippines mod the same size just made my day; and decision.

I was so happy with the experience that two days later I went back bought an actual RDA and I just built my first coil at the shop. Went with a Mutation X and some 26 gauge Kanthal. I went with a 5 wrap dual coil setup and it came in just under .5ohm.

In all honesty I picked up the brass TOBH Atty to go with the slight brass ring on the bottom of the panzer as well as the firing button, but unfortunately the contacts in the TOBH are not long enough to meet the connection with the panzer so I grabbed the Mutation instead. It sucked cause I had already built the coil setup on the TOBH base and had to redo the whole thing. Oh well, ya win some and ya lose some. Anyway I am very pleased with all 3 pieces that I have gotten and I look forward to contributing to the forums! If anyone has questions about the subtank I posted a small threads in the beginner forum or just ask here. It has a few quirks but it is an amazing tank nonetheless. Cheers and happy vaping everyone!

And somebody please help me I cannot figure out how to post links at all! I go to add from computer and it doesn't work for some reason and when I link them it says no links are allowed. How do I post a simple picture to show you this beautiful setup???

Thank you both! Yeah I figured that may be the reason, but even when I add a picture from my computer nothing happens, I tried to add another once that one pic uploaded but it still isn't working. Eh i'll give it a little time and try again it may just be my connection. And YES the subtank and the panzer look awesome together, only down side is the 1.2 coil only gives about 11 watts with my 3.7 battery so the vapor isn't there until I use that with a box mod, but I just love the weight of this mech; it feels right.

Okay I've done my 5 posts, so here's some better pictures for you guys! Here's my first coil I've ever built! 28 guage kanthal and organic cotton running some "Cereal Killa" by 9South Vapes. Go easy on me guys! I am proud of myself.

The look of the subtank on the panzer is just beautiful, and the Mutation X doesn't look half bad either! I'm pretty upset that the pin on the TOBH atty didn't fit - does anyone know of any kind of fix for this? I plan on getting more RDA's - some with some more lines, but I definitely want to get some brass up there to really set off that bottom brass ring and the firing pin!

Hello and welcome to the forum Alex. Glad to have you here!:)

Great looking setup.

<snip> only down side is the 1.2 coil only gives about 11 watts with my 3.7 battery <snip>.

Just a FYI in case you didn't know. 3.7v is the nominal charge on your battery. Fully charged it is 4.2v. Make sure and use 4.2v when figuring the amp draw on your batteries.

I did not know that lol so thank you for clearing that up. I watch a lottttt of review and everyone says 4.2 volt but when I saw the battery in the store saying 3.7 I just figured it was a different voltage. Man do I feel stupid lol.

Also I just received a private message from someone claiming to be careful with the subtank on a mech mod. They claimed it has been shorting out and that there's a problem with the coils so I will definitely let the group know if anything happens. However, in the case of a short I think I'd figure it out before anything happens to me other than some burnt fingers lol but we will see over time. It works great and the shop I got it from were very knowledgable and had no problem setting it up on the panzer and testing it for me. Thanks for all the welcomes guys! This hobby is already starting of great.

Alex, here's the post I usually make to someone new to new to mech mods and rebuildables. You will find some very useful information here.

If you are new to mech mods and rebuildables I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

MECHANICAL MODS & REBUILDABLES

7. Information Resources for Your First RBA
* An essential read and reference guide for someone new to rebuilding coils. Includes a multitude of useful links on battery safety, mod safety, coil meters, coil building, and the differences in the three types of RBA's.

15. Inexpensive Mechanical Mod and RDA Setup
* A response to the frequently asked question on how to get into rebuildable atomizers with a mechanical mod inexpensively. Includes a list of commonly used tools and supplies for rebuilding and where to find them.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Just a quick update for anyone who cares!

So I'm loving the Panzer... the thing hits! I picked up a Darkhorse RDA recently and I'm loving it. I keep the ring on the wide open holes (with no bars) and it's currently sitting with a 26 gauge dual coil at .3 on the dot. I love the vapor and the flavor but in all honesty I think the Mutation X performs better- better vapor production and I just like the way it hits. Both are great!

Last week I went to my local shop and built a 22 gauge single coil at .26 on the Darkhorse. It's not bad but I think I'm more of a dual coil person; fun while it lasted.
I built my first parallel coil on the Mutation last week aswell. Its an 8 wrap dual coil parallel coil with 26 gauge kanthal. I did this just to try new things and personally I am not a fan. It takes a realllllllly long time to heat up and I know it's not the best nor probably the best build to start with but hey! I wanted to try I did and I learned that it's not exactly for me.

I got a package in today!:D:D:D

This thing hits hard as hell and I like the Plume Veil a lot. The flavor is really good and it chucks the clouds. I keep it with the holes wide open and the top air holes shut... it works for me.

This is the build I've been loving lately! (I usually do the same simple build at .3) This time I did a .23 dual 24 gauge setup with 6 wraps. It's hot towards the end of a huge hit but it doesn't bother me much. I really like the vapor it produces.

Be aware! (I will be making a post about the seller of these two products shortly as there are some minor issues - not reflecting the business, just things they may see and use to create better service and stuff people should be aware of before purchase.) The Plume Veil arrived with some marks and overspray inside the center pieces... not a huge deal but I wasn't entirely happy. Also the white of the Sir Lancelot is easily removable. I was putting a vape band around it and my fingernail hit a part and now theres a tiny amount of copper showing through. It's bound to happen but I didn;t realize the coating was THAT sensitive... it'll get worse I'm sure but things like that happening on the first day sure sucks. Oh well lol:facepalm:

Happy vaping everyone!
