Welcome to ecf @Spiros_Strat

How can we help you today?
What kind of battery do you have and what seems to be the problem?
Well, I don't know what causes it, but my batteries go down very fast after they drop below 40%. So for a bit of info
I first used an eLeaf istick pico, with a sketchy battery in retrospect, used to charge it via usb and all was good. I then wanted to upgrade and got a vaporesso GenS, 2 vtc5as and an Xtar vc2 to charge them. After a bit, I updated its firmware and I started noticing the issue I described above, but it could have been there from before. I then got a pair of vtc6s, which did the same in my Gen S, and finally, I got a pair of molicel p26as, which also did the same out of the box, they came at about 40% charge new. After all those, I repurposed my set of vtc6s and use them on the pico, charging all the cells on the Xtar. I now think that the issue comes from the charger, since the vtc6s in the pico also die very fast after 40%. Is this a known issue with any of my gear?

At this point, all I can tell you is that is how a lot of new batteries are shipped. It seems to me that you might vape at higher watts at lower ohms which will drain batteries quickly.

Stay tuned, an expert should be on their way shortly.

I do indeed, 75-100 watts depending on the atty, but still, the difference in discharge after 40% is drastic, hope someone who knows what's wrong, sees this. Thanks for the interest!

Hi Spiros_Strat. Welcome to the ECF.

When you buy New Batteries, receiving them with a "40%" Charge is Normal. Because that is the Best way to Long-Term Store a Battery.

As to the Voltage Falling Fast when it reaches 40% on you Mod...

I have some Mods that the Meter shows the Battery going down Very Slowly, and then when I get below 50% or so, they Fall Very Quickly. Whereas I have some Mods that do the Direct Opposite. They Almost Instantly fall down to 70% when I 1st use a them. But then do a Slow Decline down to 30% or so.

It's more of a Flaky Reading on the Mod's Meter than a Battery Issue. Because I get about the Same Amount of Puffs on the Puff Counter for each Mod using the Same Battery/Atomize Build.

I thought that this was the case aswell, what threw me off, is that in the pico, I never had that problem via usb charging, so I thought it was a Gen S thing, but now, when I put the Xtar charged vct6 in the pico, it does the same

    That is Strange.

I would do a Comparison Test with the Puff Counter to see if it is about the Same for a Battery charged using the USB vs using your Standalone Charger.

I wouldn’t think the difference in amps between charging externally vs usb would make a difference in battery performance, would it?

As long as the Battery(s) are charged to the Same Voltage, there will be No Difference.

It's like putting Gas in you Car. Doesn't matter if you Fill it Fast or you Fill it Slow, your Still Pay'n a :censored: Arm and a Leg.

I mean... Still going to get the Same Amount of Driving out of it before you have to Re-Fill.

    Hello and welcome to ecf...

As i see u already got lots of help but i just wanted to say that....

If u had a multimeter u could check the voltage of the batteries when they are full they should read from 4.14v or up to 4.20v or something so u know the external charger works good even tho i dont think thats the problem just saying

I feel like u get tricked by the battery indicator in the gen s...
For example i have the first gen and i updated the firmware that btw happens to be the gen s firmware that changed the menu and the screen a lot but also what changed is the battery percentage...

The previous firmwares used to drop the battery percentage from 100% to 98% at first couple of puffs at 80watts that i was vaping and then after 90% it was dropping slower and especially below 50% it was going even slower i think...sooo it was wierd

Since i updated to the latest firmware tho i notice my battery indicator stay at 100% for very long and at first i thought its stuck and maybe broken and wont decrease...but it started droppiny much later and in slower rate

Also i noticed that once it hits 40% percent it stats to go low veeeery fast if i vape more than 70watts especially but turns out its fine just needed time to get used to the new calibration

At first it made me feel like it lasts less but i checked the puffs and it was lasting the same as before the update since i havent changed my vaping habits in terms of wattage of coils so i could compare...

I was kinda dissapointed still tho didn't like the way it is but got used to it now :)

Just for my own general knowledge, it’s better to to charge at lower amps to preserve the life of the battery, right?

Yeah... Charging a Lower Amps can prolong the Overall Lifespan of a Battery.

I like to charge 18650's at 0.5 Amps. But I'm home a lot. And have 6 or 8 Batteries in rotation. Charging at 1.0 Amp is OK. And it does get the Job Done Faster.

I Don't like charge any Higher than 1.0 Amp.

I charge my 18650's at .5 Amps too. My 21700's at 1 whole Amp. My charger will go higher, but I won't.
