Dead Rabbit rta 4: after the many versions of the 3, which remains one of my favorite HellVape atomizers, the sequel arrives, still designed for RDL and Cloud chasing. Item provided by sourcemore without receiving money or having a working relationship with them.
Orange cardboard packaging covered by a sleeve. Equipment consists of the Dead Rabbit RTA 4, a spare pyrex tank, spare parts with o-rings, screwdriver, leg trimmer, and an extra top cap gasket. Instruction manual, two cotton laces, and the inevitable 0.37 ohm claptons.
The Hellvape Dead Rabbit RTA 4 weighs 58 grams, stands 37 mm tall excluding the 510 connection and drip tip, and is entirely made of steel. Capacity choice of 3.5 or 5.5 ml depending on which tank is installed. It is born as a dual coil but, as we will see, it is also okay in single coil.
810 drip tip included in plastic material, black in my case. Generous bore designed for pulmonary vaping; for RDL, I used other drip tips. The first difference compared to the 3 is the sliding top cap, with one hole for refilling and one for air displacement as the liquid enters. There are no locking systems for the top cap, so be careful during transport.
Despite the slide system, the top cap section still unscrews for cleaning or to replace the plastic membrane responsible for the friction that keeps the cap closed. The top airflow remains unchanged, with dual mirrored slots and honeycomb-style holes for the ring, which can be extracted from the top once the top cap is unscrewed. Pyrex tank is press-fitted; the 3.5 ml straight glass is shown in the photo, but the 5.5 ml bubble glass will be seen later.
The deck screws into the bell body via threading; be careful to align the two airflows with the internal notches of the bell. Well-executed threading makes it easy to screw on. Chimney dimensions are suitable for RDL and pulmonary vaping.
The deck features the "new" airflow system with 48 air holes surrounding the coil(s). Although designed exclusively for dual coil, there are no malfunctions when testing it in single coil. Tightening of the 4 posts occurs at the sides via flat-head screws. Shown in the photo are the usual 0.37Ω Ni80 Clapton Coils included in the package and the coil trimmer to help cut the legs evenly.
For wicking, simply place the cotton in the ports so it brushes the deck, without creating a dam effect. In single coil, it is better to be (very) generous with the cotton without thinning it too much. With the build disassembled, by unscrewing the gold-plated pin connected to the positive post, it can be extracted for deep cleaning. The side of the deck features a honeycomb pattern similar to the airflow ring.
Base with well-executed engravings and finally, the 5.5 ml bubble glass available in the box. The aromatic yield is close to the Dead Rabbit 3, as is the draw, which is quite good for a top-airflow atomizer. The Dead Rabbit 4 has gained more agility; it is not as massive as the 3 but much slimmer, so a dual-battery box isn't necessary for a simple 25-30 watt RDL vape.
If the Dead Rabbit 3 was a success—as seen by the various anniversary and alternative color versions released after the standard—the Dead Rabbit 4 can certainly embrace that range of vapers coming from pods or disposables who want to try the world of rebuilding. For those who have tried other Hellvape atomizers, the Dead Rabbit 4 definitely carries the house signature appreciated by many, always with the pro of a contained cost.
