Hello again. I’m back with one more review for Hellvape today. I was sent the Hellvape Fusion R Pod Kit by Hellvape in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The Fusion R is a very lightweight yet durable square shaped pod device. It has a built in 800mah battery and a 5V/1A charging rate that will completely charge the battery in about 45-50 minutes. The pod included has a mesh .8 ohm coil and a liquid capacity of 2ml which is pretty standard among pod devices. The Fusion R has a built in liquid viewing window that is pretty convenient and an adjustable airflow control which has become a must have for me in pod devices. Being a lightweight device, it does have a lanyard connection point and includes a lanyard if that is something that you like.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:
The Fusion R comes in a nice white box with the Hellvape and Fusion R names on the front along with a nice picture of the Fusion R and a checked pattern that simulates the design used on some of the color versions available. The back side of the box has the contents list, Hellvape company information, an authenticity code, and a bar code sticker stating the color version contained inside the box. I received two samples for this review. As you can see, I got the Blackish Green but also got the Legendary Black version. I simply love the appearance of the green version and it quickly became my favorite. I’m usually a black, silver, or blue mod or pod person but really love the color and design combination on it.
The sides of the box has a list of the main features on one side and the Fusion R name on the opposite side along with more of the check pattern.
Once the outer sleeve is removed, you can see the Fusion R device with the single .8 ohm Fusion Pod pre-installed. There is only the one pod included in the kit but there is a lanyard, charging cable, and user manual included. I personally would have rather seen a second pod included than the lanyard but I am not a lanyard user.
I received two samples for the review as well as a package each of the .8 and 1.2 ohm pods. The Fusion R only comes with the one .8 ohm mesh Fusion pod in the package but the 1.2 are available for purchase separately as well as replacement pods for the .8 ohm. The green version I received has a nice pattern on it along with the Fusion R name etched on it and is where you find the liquid viewing window. The liquid viewing window is a good idea but I wish it was open on both sides to allow light to come in from the back side for easier viewing. The opposite side has the Hellvape name on it. The black version doesn’t have the decorative pattern on it like the green one but has the same names etched on each side.
The Fusion R has the USB-C charging port on the bottom to charge the 800mah battery. The samples I received had a plastic strip covering the bottom when I received them. There are three battery vent holes located on the bottom as an added safety feature should the battery fail.
With a top view you can see that the pod opening on the Fusion has the standard plated spring loaded electrical contacts that meet with the pod to power the coil. The two magnets inside hold the Fusion Pod in very securely. On the top are three nice sized holes that direct the airflow in from the adjustable airflow control on the side up and into the pod. The auto draw sensor is located at the bottom of the opening. The Fusion R is auto draw only with no fire button. The black portion in the picture is where you would connect the lanyard through the two holes if that is something that you like to use.
In the second picture below you can see the airflow adjuster that slides. It is stiff enough that it doesn’t move when going in and out of a pocket. The Fusion R is so thin and lightweight that I have been able to carry it in a front pants pocket at work while barely noticing that I am carrying it. Below the airflow adjuster is a single LED indicator light that indicates battery levels as well as alerting the user to any safety issues.
Below the airflow adjuster is a single LED indicator light that indicates battery levels as well as alerting the user to any safety issues. Besides the three battery level indications that you can see in the picture below, the light also alerts the user to the following issues.
- Low Battery Protection: The red light flashes 10X
- Overtime Protection: The red light flashes 5X and shuts the output off after 8 seconds
- Short Circuit Protection: The red light flashes 3X
- Charging: The same indications as the picture below and the green light stays on when fully charged

The Fusion Pod that comes with the kit contains a .8 ohm mesh coil. The coils are not replaceable so the entire pod is switched out when needed. As I mentioned, I also received a package of the 1.2 ohm Fusion Pods for the review. I like how the rubber fill plug is gray on the 1.2 and black on the .8 so it’s easy to tell the difference. Besides that, the resistance is marked on the plugs. The mouthpiece is very comfortable to use and had no issues with it. Both pods are side fill and there is an arrow on the plug to point to which side to lift from. The .8 ohm pod is rated for 15 watts while the 1.2 ohm pod is rated for 10 watts. When you first receive the Fusion R kit there will be a sticker covering the bottom of the pod to prevent firing before filling. There are two magnets on the bottom of the pod to help secure the pod into the Fusion opening. There are of course the two contacts to power the coil that align with the spring loaded contacts in the battery portion. Also there is a fairly large airflow inlet on opposite diagonal corners of the bottom of the pod so it will be able to accept the airflow no matter which way you insert the pod.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I have enjoyed testing the Hellvape Fusion R Pod Kit. This is the second pod system that I have tested by Hellvape and both have performed well. I very much liked the EIR that I reviewed a while back. The Fusion R is very lightweight at 38.5g and is also very thin which has made it a great pocket carry pod device for me. It is auto draw only so I don’t have to worry about accidentally hitting a button in my pocket and firing it.
There was only the one .8 ohm Fusion pod included with the kit which as you can understand, I think there should always be two pods in any kit for obvious reasons. Since that was what was included, I started out testing the Fusion R with this pod filled with a NET tobacco mix that I like. I felt that the flavor production was pretty good and could pick out the flavors I was looking for since this is a NET tobacco with cookie notes in it. Vapor production was respectable. I was able to get 3-4ml of liquid used before needing to recharge the Fusion R. The .8 ohm pod is rated for 15 watts and that seemed about right with the performance I was getting.
Hellvape was nice enough to send extra pods and one of the packages was filled with two of the optional 1.2 ohm pods rated at 10 watts. I did of course get longer battery life with this pod and the liquid in the first fill seemed to last forever with occasional use. Ten watts is quite a bit low for me and didn’t enjoy this one as much but that is just because of personal preference. I tried this one with a mango recipe and felt like the flavor was a little muted unless I chain vaped and got the coil hotter. Then the flavor was good. I feel like this one could have used another 2-3 watts. I believe I got about 4ml of liquid gone through before recharging on this one. It’s a little hard to judge because I never run pods completely dry.
If I was going to use the Fusion R consistently then for my preference I would stick with the .8 ohm Fusion pods. During my use over the last two weeks testing both pods there was only ever a tiny bit of condensation and no leaking at all.
I would like to thank Hellvape and Lisha for sending the Fusion R Pod Kit and the spare pods to test for my review. A big thank you to you the readers for sticking it out until the end again.
