Help a new member out

I am brand new here and can't post anywhere else but new member area...another member started a conversation with me....I can see it in my inbox and open it but I don't know how to engage or if I even can as a new member. Can someone help me with this?

When you open it do you see a box below it that says "write your reply ..."?

Your account should be good to go at this point. Once you reach the 5th post, the system still has to update your account in the background. This occurs at around 25 minutes after each hour.
