Help a Newbie

I'm new here. I got burned on my first Vape Kit purchase since my smok T-Priv ~10 years ago. Long story short I bought a GeekVape T200 kit and everything was fine and dandy until I changed the coil the first time and ever since then has been horrible. I started noticing that it tastes like stainless steel or some sort of alloy. Did some research into the batteries they sold me and I'm 98% sure there is some serious issues going on because everytime I take a rip there is a VERY loud pop sound.

Ready to move forward and cut all loses with that and I'm sure you are tired of reading already.

--SKIP TO HERE FOR MAIN QUESTION--

So I did a little research and put together a redemption list. All input or constructive criticism is very much appreciated.

-Lost Vape Centaurus N100 Box Mod

-Horizon FALCON KING Mesh Sub-Ohm tank

-Horizon Falcon M8 Coils

-Samsung 30T 21700 3000mAh 35A Battery

-Hohm Tech SCHOOL UNO 2A USB Charger

Just wondering do you think this will utilize the full 100W range and be safe?
Is the Charger going to be compatible with the solo battery and healthy for the batteries longevity? Is there anything I am missing or should know about max or min ohms and what is a good buffer between those two values for continuous safe vaping. It should be said I enjoy 70vg/30pg.

Anyways that's the full post. Thanks for making it this far and special thanks in advance to any suggestions posted below. Have a nice day :thumb:

-P.S. I am new here so apologies if I didn't post this in the correct place

the taste and sound, could be just a dry coil.
some new coils can be dective from the start.
popping can be too much wicking material or juice vecosity among others.
not sure if batties will pop.

Could it be that the entire package of coils is defective because I keep trying a new one after a few weeks of giving up because it keeps tasting like metal and it's super off putting. I also took off the tank after a couple weeks of it sitting with juice in it and noticed there was a white powder that seemed to be all gunked up in the 510 thread. It sketched me out because all I could think about was that the batteries or contacts were corroded. If you think everything is all good to go lmk and I can even post pics of what everything looks like.

yes to the pics.
to clean the 510 use a q tip and alcohol. your juice could be too high on the vg for your pg/vg ratio.
not allowing the coil to wick

you did prime the coil?
Yes primed the coil and I'm using 0.3 ohm z coils with 70vg/30pg. I thought maybe I fixed the problem just a couple days ago when I tried again but after about 3 drags it started tasting bad again. I can see if the juice head I have that isnt my main squeeze is 50/50 but it'll be about another hour. Another thing is the batteries I'm worried about are unprotected li-ion so I'll get back to you on that too. I'm worried the mod is pulling too many Volts or Amps from them. I'll have to post pics in about a hour or two when I get to take the whole thing apart and clean it up for you to check out. I'll even make sure to fully charge the batteries again before I report back because right now they are around 40%.

Okay so the Juice Head I have unfortunately is also 70vg/30pg and it wasn't 0.3ohm it was 0.4ohm. Pics incoming. Thanks again for all the help and getting involved I felt like this was a lost cause for a long time.

Lost Vape Centaurus N100 + Falcon KING + Samsung 30T should hit 100W safely. Just double-check coil resistance, stay within the battery’s limits, and the charger will be fine for keeping it healthy. Enjoy your vapes!

"Acetaldehyde is a chemical that is also found naturally in many fruits and is considered toxic, but it can be present in many nicotine products,"

In other words, it may be in your vape, but in small amounts. The nanny state of California requires so many warning labels, that the warnings have become meaningless.

Acetaldehyde is also a breakdown product of ethanol metabolism in the liver, which is why alcoholism is toxic.

gererally once the wicking material is burned it will stay that waY.

one thing.i over looked among others.
start low on your power till the coil breaks in.
keep at it,you will get it.just with a lighter wallet.

I got it up and running last night after I changed the coil. I started with the juice head but after things got warmed up on a broken in coil I switched back over to my main e liquid and everything is working perfectly. Thank you everyone who got involved and gave me the confidence to do what I love again. I really appreciate all of you and enjoy the opportunity to be included in such a great community. Like Tanneck had mentioned my wallet does feel a little lighter because now I have two box mods with one on the way in the mail but now I have a proper charger instead of plugging my box into a phone charger.

Two vapes are better than one!:vapor:

I noticed one day while I was vaping the Juice Head I started getting a headache sort of like a hangover so I switched to a different brand and haven't had the issue since. Did some research into acetaldehyde and read it's naturally occurring in a ton of different foods including bananas and coffee. The only thing I wonder is if some manufacturers are using it as an additive to sweeten or change the flavor profile or if it's just a byproduct sort of like how coils can give off other aldehydes.

Thanks again for all the help and input from everyone

It's a byproduct of nicotine/tobacco products. There's no advantage to adding it to juice and it would entail an extra cost. Maybe you're allergic to that particular brand of juice or it's not related to vaping at all.

A little update. I burnt through that coil in about a day using sugary 70vg/30pg @ 3mg at a pretty low wattage so I decided to try something a little different. I went out and bought a 50vg/50pg @ 6mg and have been trying it with a fresh coil and things seem to be looking up.

Still makes decent clouds tastes good and gets me where I'm going a lot faster (less coil stress hopefully) I started using the VPC setting and have it set to 48-50-52-48-48 with the airflow only about 1/4 open. I never make the full ten seconds in one drag.

Does this sound like a good move or am I just spending unnecessarily? Coils are super expensive at shops here. They want $6 a coil or $25 a pack. Figured a $20 100ml bottle would be worth it to save in the long run. I also heard the tobacco flavors are a little easier on coils.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for all the help :2c:
