Greetings, welcome to the forum, and thank you for having the good sense to be thinking about mech mod/rba safety issues right from the start.

FWIW I love my mech mods, and my favourite atomizer is a Genesis-style RBA, but it was very difficult to learn how to do a decent Genny build. For a first RBA, Kayfuns (or KF clones) are a decent choice; fairly simple to make the coils, and the vape they provide is great.

To get you started, here are a couple ECF threads about safety issues:

Good luck!

hi guys :) this is my first post here so yeah... anywho right now i have a halo Triton and a firefly v2 with a unitank (nothing fancy i know) but here lately I've been getting curious about mods and rebuildable tanks (sorry if my terminology is wrong) can someone teach me how to safely get into this type of vaping?

Welcome!

How much can you spend on new vaping set? :) Are yu sure that vaping satisfies your smoking needs? If yes and you have some money to spend, go for a kit 3 ;)

KIT 1: Ego twist /vision spinner with protank (1,2,3 mini...)

It looks childish compared to mech. :D Twist batteries are loong, so i recommend 1300mAh. You are gonna need 2x twist so you can vape, while you are charging other battery. Get original, not clone battery!!

Price: About 65 eur for 2 batteries and 1 protank

Conclusion: No rebuilding here, because you have to check the resistance of coil, you need wire and cotton etc.. Cheap setup that really gives great performance and its simple to use.

KIT 2: VV mod like itaste svd/vamo/sid + rsst (genesis) / kayfun 3.1/lite+ clone (chimney style)

It has everything :) u will ever need (vv and vw, ohm checker) but its more expensive and you need extra batteries and charger for them.

Price: 80 eur and more for MOD, kayfun 3.1 clone, 18350/18650 imr battery and nitecore charger, some kanthal wire and cotton.

Conclusion: It is large and heavy set! For me its only usable at home/in a room, not on the go... But it gives you really powerful vaping experience and its great looking!

KIT 3: Mech mod Nemesis clone + Kick + Kayfun 3.1/Lite+ clone / Aqua clone

My favorite steam machine :D You need to have multimeter/vv mod to check the resistance of the coil and its great to have a Kick! Mech without kick gives you only the performance of the battery can provide and that performance is dropping while using and discharging battery. Kick gives you extra protection for battery and it regulates the power so the performance stays the same for the most of the time. Kick is a must have imho!

Price: 75 eur and much much more. Clones are really cheap, originals are expensive like gold...

Conclusion: With the Kick the vaping experience is almost the same as it with VV mod, but that kit with 18350 battery is much more pocket friendly :) You can also use the mech without a kick, but it lacks performance... Mech with kick is my daily, most used vaping device!

I am rebuilding coils from 1 ohm up to 1.8 ohm with cotton and 29&30 awg kanthal.

btw Kick clone, protank, rsst, nemesis clone, kayfun clone and aqua clone (20$). You can get all of these for the best price on FastTech - Gadgets and Electronics

The best thing to do is check out the different style of re-buildable atomizers, rba's, that are available. Many styles to choose from. Once you found one you like, compare it with others. The flash-e-Vapor V2 and the Kayfun/Russian rba's are just two of my favorite thengs.

The Triton appears to be an ego style battery, no clue as what a firefly v2 is, but if one gets into rba's, a ego style battery is not the best choice to power an rba. Most have a larger diameter and would look huge on an ego. Though the Taifun GS is a slender 17 mm, and would be the best choice for an ego style. A good regulated mod would be my recommendation to have if wanting to go rba's. Need something you can adequately power and adjust to dial in the best vape possible for your build and the ohms of the coil.

I would choose a regulated with at least 15 watts and 6 volts of power. That will take you a long way into rebuilding and upping your vape. If you really are serious about your vape and have the ability to grow in your vape then consider something like the NexGen Futura DNA30 regulated mod, or the SuperMax, which will put out at up to 70 watts of power, and accept builds down to .2 ohms. Being a regulated box mod, it adds safety to those that want to go sub ohm and have vape consistency. Something like the SuperMax or Futura, which will take builds as low as .5 ohms, one has and ultimate trainer to advanced user regulated mod.

A lot depends on where you want to go in your vape journey. How far you want to venture in your builds and how far you wish to go. If one chooses quality mods, whether they be regulated or mechanical, you have something that will be in your collection for many years to come. Or you can go down the upgrade as you need to replace them or out grow their capabilities, road.

If you have no plan on to stop vaping, then it makes more sense to buy quality that will last. If you looking for something that you will throw away, get cheap stuff.
