Well I just tried my first "e cig" as a cheap trial from Gamucci. Picked it up on impulse at a convienience store. Interesting and liked it enough to want to explore. My 2nd sin was ordering the "Free Trial" from Smoke Star which I now find out isn't a "free trial" Since I havn't gotten it yet the only experience I have is from the one Gamuci I tried. My questions really surround my ignorance of the whole process. #1. Do they ALL have a little button on them you have to press each time you puff? My cheap test unit has a button. Maybe it is just there because the battery isn't rechargable. #2. What is the best outfit to get hooked up with? I don't want to have problems getting refill cartriges in the future. I am used to just going to the store and buying a pack of smokes so ordering and waiting seems like a hassel. #3. I smoke about a pack a day of Marlboro Reds. What nicotine level is the same as that? #4. How long does a cartrige REALLY last? A packs worth or more? #5. I get very little vapor from my cheap test unit. Seems like I have to work hard to get much and then that makes me cough when inhaling which regular smokes never have.Another downfall of the cheap test unit? #6. Is it really as safe as they claim? I know that reg cigs have 4000 + chemicals but then any flavoring, whatever would also take chemicals to create. Understand that I don'tcare about smoking anywhere so much as I want something less damaging to my lungs. 50 years old and been smoking for 37 of those.

Hey Willied,

1. batteries with the button on them are becoming more common. Most people like them better than the automatics, as they are less trouble prone.

2. There is no one best outfit to hook you up, but some of the often recommended ones are:

Cignot: Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

Rockymountain Vapor: Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes!

E-Cig Supply: Products

However, if you want to get a large amount of vaping supplies (more than say, 120 bucks or so) your best bet is to order direct from China from one of the "big 3" there:

Healthcabin: Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail

Eastmall: www.eastmall.net - Eastmall International Co.,Ltd

Heaven's Gifts: Wholesale & Retail Best E-smoking Supplier

For the best deal, always check for coupon codes which are listed on this site.

3.There is no way to be able to tell what the correct nicotine level one needs, except by experimenting. I'd suggest ordering some 24 mg strength juice (pretty strong) and start off by diluting it down to like 8 mg. or less to see how it works for you. If it's too weak, you can always increase the strength.

4. In the real world, carts are about equal to a half pack of smokes, or less... unless it's a model with a really BIG cart, like the DSE 801 pen style. If you're filling your own carts, though, the size of it doesn't matter much at all.

5. Vapor production is dependent on many factors. A)the model - some produce great clouds of vapor, other less. b) type of juice used - VG based juices produce more vapor than do ones that use PG, as a base. c) Using the model correctly to get the best hit out of it. d) being sure that the atomizer has enough juice in it to work properly, but not too much.

6) It's probably A LOT safer than is smoking. But, one can never say with absolute certainty that it is safer.

Here's the usual short list of e cigs that are generally considered the best:

-The DSE 901 - mid sized, nice vapor, inexpensive.
-The DSE 801 - Bigger, but with better battery life than most. Also inexpensive
-The Joye 510 - Very like the 901, but more expensive and with bigger vapor production.
-The KR808 - Uses a combined atomizer and cart. 901 batteries are compatible with it.
-The M401 - Nice looking, good battery life. A well regarded e cig.

Anyone of these would be a vast improvement over the models you tried, I'm sure.

Good luck to you.
