Help? Batery problems

can I wrap this with electrical tape? Should it been fine after that?

How old is the battery, if it's new I would return it. I would NOT just put electrical tape on it and use it. It's a time bomb waiting to blast.

This happens to all of my Sony VCT's. I don't know why. You are okay to put electrical tape on it but you have to stretch it out to be extremely thin. Always check to make sure your repair is still quality. Don't remove the green wrapping because with it on there, it exposes just the right amount of +/- and it's a pain to do it only with electrical tape. I have a 6 month old Sony VCT4 that had this happen within the first two weeks on my Chi You, electrical tape has kept it going since.
