Im somewhat familiar with lithium polymer and lithium ion batteries via RC modeling. These types of batteries needed to be discharged fully before being charged again. The chargers used in the care of these batteries automatically did this for you. So, three questions:
1. What type of batteries are in my eGo c?
2. Do these batteries require the same care i.e. discharging?
And 3. if so, what would be the best way to do this?
I look forward to all of your expertise! :)

Desmond, I also fly RC and have a stable of Lipo's along with my Lion's for vaping. First, neither of these need to be completely discharged before charging. As a mater of fact you should avoid a full discharge! Check out the info at Battery University here.

1) Lion.
2) Already talked about.
3) See #2.

HTH.

Typical ecig batts are fully charged at less than/equal to 4.2v. Most units will auto shutoff at ~3.3v. It is not necessary to run all the way down with these batts. Many folks who use 100% mech mods (non-regulated voltage) will swap their batteries ~3.7v because of the power drop, recharging without degrading the recharge lifecycle of the batts.

For mod batteries (18650/500/350, etc) I always use a multi-phased charger (smart charger): microchip monitored/batt status, CC/CV/trickle, auto-shutoff at full...

Gotcha Desmond. Nope, not a 3D guy. I like a reasonable amount of speed with smooth aerobatics. I flew 40 sized glo powered sport planes for years. Loved the Great Planes Ultra Sport and Mustang. I have a couple of electric park flyers now and am looking to convert my old Kaos to electric. I built it pretty light and I think with a few mods I can get it in below 4 pounds flying weight.

That's too bad, nothing like a 40 percent composite yak running on 4 belt connected hackers. Until you drive it into the ground thanks to a flat spin that is (;
