HELP! Battery Issue has me stumped!

Hey there everyone! Hope you can shed some light on my situation .

So here's the deal. I've got 4 batteries that I rotate with my K100 mod. 2-18650s and 2-18350s. I've had all of them for a couple months and up until now, everything has been peachy.

Last night I grabbed my kit and headed out to meet some friends and on he way switched from an 850 to one of my 350s for a lower profile and pocket friendliness

I went to take drag and nothing..popped off the top of my A8 , nope nothing wrong there. Unscrewed the bottom and checked out the spring....seemed alright. But still nothing. Tried my other 350 that was also freshly charged still nothing. Put the 650 back in BAM hits like the champ I know it is.

OK....so maybe my charger is on the Fritz right? I get home and bust out the multimeter. Those little guys are fully charged.

SO my question to you folks is what in the heck would make my 350s suddenly not work? I don't get it. There has been zero change. No drops no incidents nothing. And my 650s still work with zero issues.

What the fizzle?!?!?

Any help would be oh so greatly appreciated!!!!!

My first thought is that a battery under no load may test "good" in terms of voltage, but when a load hits it, the voltage drops significantly enough not to produce vapor. Any idea how many charge cycles you have on those 18350s?

Spring is compressed? Stretch it back out. Positive Post is pushed up, vise versa

Hmm I've checked on the spring... seems fine. And that doesn't jive with the 650s working just fine. Hmmm.... the 350s, I'm not sure how many cycles I've got in them, buy wouldn't it be weird for both ofthem to kick the bucket at the same time?? I've charged them maybe every other day for the last 2-3 months. So.... maybe 45 cycles I'm guessing???

This is SO bizzare!!! I've got the old battery my kit came with that is a 350 charging now and I'll see if that works. That'll tell me if its these batteries..

Any play of the batteries while in 18350 mode? Do they rattle if you shake your k100? Sounds like the '350s are not making enough electrical contact in that mode.

Do inspect the '350s for any battery corrosion on both ends. Perhaps rub both ends with some alcohol or a pencil eraser.

Yeah, sounds like a bad connection to me since its both of them. I could see one battery going bad, but both is unlikely. Cleaning the connections sounds like a good idea to me.

Thanks baditude. I'll check it out. I did swab my mods connections but not the batteries..... lets see.

OK bizzare. The other 350 doesn't work either. Its like all of a sudden the connection isn't made on the 350s

Why would this happen all of a sudden???

Something caused the fire button to stop short. Stupid question but for some reason is the lock not
Fully released. Your problem has got to be down there somewhere.

Out of curiosity, what's on top of your K100? Reason I ask is because when I started using rebuildables I had a similar issue a few weeks ago. Turns out that one of the screws that secures the NR wire to the post had wiggled loose enough to cause some really wonky firing. Its the first thing I check now if I'm having issues with my mods not firing.

Other thing to check is to make sure you're threaded down enough on the 350s. Drop one in, and see see where the button stops--I thread down to where there's a small gap between the button and stop when the button is fully depressed. <-- This way you can be sure you're getting solid contact.

Jeremy you know what I'm going to check that. I have an A8 and I just put in a new cook with 28 gauge wire. Now that you mention it, I think he problem started about the time I put in the new coil. Scott, that was my thinking as well, but I learned early in to make sure to snug down the batteries.

New development here folks. My 18650s die super fast. They usually will last me a day and mybsecod one today just died in me. Could it be the 28 gauge wire?????

Have you checked the resistance of your coil? 28ga wire will produce a low resistance coil and, if it's low enough, could overload both 18650 and 18350s. The capacity of the 18350 is much lower than that of an 18650 and it just might not be able to supply enough current to fire the coil for even a single drag. You haven't mentioned what brand/type of battery is involved here which can also be a factor.

HALLELUJAH!!!!! Victory! Lesson learned! Awsum140 you were right. I got my new AGa-T2 and uses 32g wire and all of the batteries work again. THANK YOU EVERYONE for helping me save my sanity!
