Help, cant rid of burnt taste with Mini Nova

As I stated above, I cant seem to shake the burning taste with my Mini Nova, my battery is and Ego twist 1000mha I am currently using my own wicks made out of cotton and bamboo. They are testing out around 2.3-3.2 ohm resistance, I am doubling the wicks and I am using a paper clip to keep it tight when making the coil. I ordered the wicks from High Desert Vapor. Am I not forgetting something, it is drawing in plenty of liquid, or is this just kind of a characteristic of these wicks? Thanks from a humble grass hopper eager to learn.

It definitely sounds like a wicking problem. Maybe you are wrapping the wire too tight around the cotton. Cotton swells quite a bit when wet. Bamboo doesn't swell as much but I think it does swell some. If the coil is wrapped to tight than it can't absorb as much juice.
