I seem to hit a crossroad in my path of vaping. I started with egos and clearomizers loved them, can rebuild a bottom feeder pretty good. I bought a vamo and let's just say I was underwhelmed to say the least. Within 13 days the voltage/watt up button has broken. I don't know if I should get a provari or venture into mechanicals, I really have my eyes set on a gp paps and a generic rba tank like the aga. Or like I said just grab the provari and maybe a cartotank. If I can rebuild a t3 or evod wick easily and consistently could I build a aga or rsst? If so I think I will be fine and happy with a mechanical. I would be happy with 3.7 volts on a 1.5 - 1.8ohm Atty. What do u guys think?

As with any thing new it just takes practice and that will be the same with rebuilding wicks. With patience you will learn. I would go with a mech. Main reason and I know it means nothing in terms of vaping, but the looks of a mech with a nice RBA, RDA, ETC is a thing of beauty. Second you don't have to worry as much about repairs with a mechanical. It's much easier to figure out why a Mech isn't firing then it is to take apart a Provari. Thirdly you can start to experiment with lower ohm setups, which can be a dream and an adventure in itself.

I see things from two perspectives:

I don't have an all day vape (flavor). I have at least a dozen flavors on hand, and often switch throughout each day 3 - 4 flavors. Each flavor often tastes best, or has a "sweet spot", at a particular voltage. For instance, fruit flavors almost always are best at lower voltages. However, other flavors like tobacco or coffee flavors really come into their own with higher voltages. With a mechanical mod, you are limited to the output of the battery (3.8 volts ave.). You won't have the option to find the sweet spot of each flavor you vape.

I've used cartotanks almost exclusively for almost a year. I've also been using RBAs for a few months. I never learned the fine art of dripping until recently when I purchased my first bottom feeder box mod about a month ago. Using a drip atomizer on the bottom feeder, I get the full flavor of a drip atomizer and the convenience of a tank. I must admit, with the unadulterated flavor I've experienced with an atomizer, I've not missed variable voltage. Now I'm curious to try variable voltage on a bottom feeder mod....

If I were you, I'd stick to the ego's or vamo if its functional for a short time and do a ton, I mean a ton of research. I am sure you already have, but do a little more. Decide what way you want to go, either VV/VW or mechanical. If its the first and you can afford it get the Provari, it's solid, proven and backed by a great warranty. If its the latter, this is where research comes in, I would recommend just about any non china mod, gp paps is awesome and there are a lot more really awesome mod in that price range too. Anything form 100 to 200 bucks, readily available can be found. Super t ELA looks pretty nice, and EA or any of the pino mods. Just get good batteries to go with it, high drain IMR, AW, mkne or Panasonic. I would recommend an rsst for a cheap atty or an aga t 2 if you use tank cracking liquids.

I was in the same situation 6 months ago and when the mech route and couldn't be happier. If you go the mech route you can go a little lower ohms and the vape really improves IMHO, for me it best when I wrap a 1 to0.8 ohm coil, I wouldn't go any lower without educating yourself and taking the proper measures. Oh yea, get a multimeter too.

Thanks for the responses and im doing as much research as I can. How good would a kick work in a mech like the gp paps..I only say gp paps because its available and its a bottom button in my price range. Speaking of, if you know any others and can point me in the right direction(I also like the REO its just a little pricey) it would be great. But yeah so would a kick defeat the whole purpose of a mechanical mod?

To aid in your research on RBAs, I've collected a lot of information resources in one place in my blog: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/4454-7-advice-tips-vapors-looking-try-their-first-rba.html

There are less expensive options available than a Reo if you are considering a bottom feeder mod. I've had a Vapage VMod-XL for about a month now, and it is quickly getting as much attention from me as my Provari's. The 18650 AW IMR 2000mah battery lasts me nearly two days, and the 9 ml juice tank lasts me three days. The full unadulterated flavor of a drip atty with the convenience of a tank. What's not to like about that?
