I just got the evic and had the vendor install the new 1.2 version software on it. I am using a mac, and when I tried to download the MRV software, it won't open on my computer. It also does not recognize my evic. Can someone who is knowledgeable with macs please tell me how to fix this ? I tried to open it in another application and got a message saying " you cannot open this file because you do not have permission " Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm sorry to write that I think Joy wrote the software without SL support. I sent an email to them requesting they add such support for the production release but they didn't answer (Chinese New Year maybe).

SL is still a very common OS, and has been compared to the XP hangers-on on the windows side.

The solution for me was to Bootcamp into XP, but I hate to do that when they actually have Mac software.

I am running mountain lion as well and was having some issues getting my evic to connect. It never would until I updated the device, then it connected with no problems ever since. Maybe try and update the device and see what if it connects that way?

Kevin, could you please tell me how to update my device ?. I can't even get the MVR software to open on my computer. Thanks

Johnieye, your eVic already has 1.2, so you are as up to date as you can be at this point. My SL Mac still won't see my 1.2 eVic. In my experience, you are hosed for MVR using SL anyway, so please email Joy and ask for SL support. The more SL users that do, the more likely they are to do it. ;)

OTOH, do you use bootcamp so you can boot into a Windows OS and use MVR that way? If you can find a cheap Windows license, (they are there if you look), it opens a whole world of non-mac-supported software that your Intel mac will run.

I had to use it for my Cardo Scala Rider (which you should NOT buy), and it works for my Sena (which I recommend) for bluetooth helmet communication and music serving.

:D

I thought about using bootcamp before, when I had problems with other devices but am leery about getting a virus or pop- ups all the time. that was the main reason that I went to a mac. I am not great when it comes to the technical side of computers. Where would I look for a Windows license ? Is setting up bootcamp difficult ?

BTW I did email joyetech and asked for SL support.

My other option would be to upgrade to ML for $20.00 which might or might not work according to the replies above.

Thanks for all your help prc, and everyone who replied.

Any other suggestions from people who know mac machines would be greatly appreciated !!
