Help...flavorless RY4

been vaping for years, Decided to try DIY ejuice and save money, but my first attempt at a smokeable ry4 has failed. liquid has no flavor.

pulled an ry4 recipe off the web using 50%pg/50% vg base liquid. and 50/50 mix of 36mg nic liquid

recipe makes 45ml of 18% nic liquid. using quality food grade products from a good online vapor store

22.5ml nic liquid
18ml pg/vg base
4.5ml of signature RY4 double flavoring

i understand ry4 is a pretty complex flavor, but i am getting zero taste, even after a warm water steep and lots of mixing, i even added 1ml each of Capella vanilla drops/Capella caramel drops....no joy

i dont want to reinvent the wheel here, i just want to make a nice, flavorful ry4 for my father and i to enjoy. i would be forever thankful for all and any help to get me on my way .

Let it steep for a few days. I usually mix double ry4 at around 10%.

Yeah. Let it steep for a few days then taste it, if you still don't taste anything add another percent or 2. Then steep another few days. Tobaccos are difficult because they almost never taste right until they've steeped, usually a week and some a month.

Btw where did you get your ry4 flavoring? The percent you add is vendor specific... Meaning you the percentages range quite a bit from vendor to vendor with flavors.

Just did a little research.... One vendor recommends 30 to 35% of their ry4, while another says 15%, then another 7%. Which vendor did you buy it from?

bought signature brand from ecigexpress i will be amazed if it tastes any better but will take your advice, maybe i followed a bad ry4 recipe?

I'm pretty sure they use Flavor West as their supplier. Flavor west states to use 20% or even much higher. I use 15% then work up after steeping a week. I think most people even go much higher... And at 45ml 4.5ml is a low amount for any ejuice from my own experience.

any tips on speeding up the steeping process, already let it sit in warm water for an hour

Correction... After more research just leave as is and steep for a week. Don't add more flavor until you taste it. But it has to be steeped. Ry4 has no flavor until it has steeped.

An ultrasonic cleaner steeps really fast. One hour in an ultrasonic cleaner is the same as a week of steeping.

yes, flavor west...you are correct.....thank you for the advice. i hope the flavor pops, i would hate to toss it out

It may take a few days to a week, but right now you are only at about 10% of the Flavorwest RY4, which might be a little low.

I believe the OP specified Double RY4 so I assume he's talking about TFA's DRY4.

4.5mL flavoring in 45mL finished liquid is 10% which is a reasonable percentage for TFA DRY4. My only recommendation would be to let it steep awhile (like a week or so).

(Edited to add: evidently I was wrong - the OP didn't use TFA's DRY4. Forget I said anything. )

I mix RY4 Double solo around 15%. I go this high on most RY4s. I could probably go lower but its when I want something sweet. 10% is probably a good starting point.

I also use a recipe posted here often thats pretty good:

RY4 Double 10%
Caramel Candy 3%
Bavarian Cream 2%

Yes... It cuts steeping time down. One hour equates to one week. Two hours equates to two weeks. Most tobaccos need 1 to 3 weeks to steep/age.
