i cleaned it in boiling water for less than 5 mins! left it to dry out and now it doesnt seem to be working. could it just be that its not dried out properly and could i have damaged it?

Yes, you could have damaged it, also it might not have been dried out properly.
If you have too much water in there it won't produce vapor.
Continue trying to smoke it, use a usb passthrough if you have it. Don't drip too much liquid in, no more than 4-5 drops. Eventually the water will evaporate out from the heat inside the atomizer. If it works, it will start producing vapor automatically. If it doesn't work, it won't.

i hadnt dripped any liquid back on to the atomiser! works again now!
