Hi Roxie! Sorry to hear you are having trouble, but I think you came to the right place to get answers :)

First off, I think readers will need a little more info about what you have right now and then we can maybe point you in a better direction.
Do you know what model of Personal Vaporizer (e-cig) you have? Does look like an analog (normal) cigarette, or is it more like a pen with a mouthpiece?
Secondly, you said you can only draw off it once every 5 minutes. Why is that? Is it something with you -- you don't like the taste? Or is it something with the e-cig itself example, the tip of it flashes when you try to puff more frequently than every 5 minutes? If so, what exactly is it doing (or rather, NOT doing)?

I myself have a DSE901 model, and I was/am real happy with it, right out of the box! Pretty easy to use, and it is fairly flexible to customize (for later, when you understand it all a little better). Try vaporkings , (not to be confused with the VaporKing model of e-cig) it is a fairly easy site to navigate and I know they have the DSE901s. They also have filled cartridges, empty cartridges and juices, too.
Hopefully others can point you in other directions as well, that is just my personal experience with electronic cigarettes so far.
For the time being, make sure your battery is fully charged on your device, and make sure the cartridge, which on e-cigs is where the filter would be, has juice in it. Well, juice and the filler...

Good luck to you, I hope you find something that suites your liking!
I'll keep an eye on this thread, too.:)

Your mom said not to say...
Some have a built in feature that if your sucking on it too much it over a certain amount of time it will not work until that time limit is up. Usually it's not 5 minutes though, perhaps it just seems that long. It's a built in overprotect feature to protect your unit from frying more than to prevent you from overdosing. I have read about this only I have not experienced it first hand myself.

It sounds like more reading is the last thing you want to do if your already confused. What model do you have, did you fully charge it prior to use?

If you have spent any time on this site at all no doubt you have heard the models 510, m401, and the 901 all talked about and all recommended when you first asked someone for help. These are the models that everyone recommends a new user start with. Depending on your own personal needs they all have their pros and con's. I was able to quit smoking completely with the Dragon (m401) that I purchased from Truesmoker.com, I have no complaints, the price was right and the service outstanding. I also have a 510 that I like as well.

I am going under the thought that you smoked a lot like I did. I smoked for 32 years. I smoked Marlboro's or Camel Lights at a rate of between a pack and two packs a day. I wanted a E-Cig that was about the same size and shape of a traditional cigarette, but I didn't want it to look exactly like a tobacco cigarette since I wanted to quit I needed to have the sensation but I didn't want the hassles from the uninformed when I broke out the E-Cig so I got a black one that can't be mistaken for a tobacco smoke.

For me the m401 model was a good choice when taking the above things into consideration. It works great and I have no complaints at all about the Dragon, there are tons of us out here with it and I have yet to hear one person complain about anything with them. I like the fact that the m401 models are perfect for dipping into your juice rather than dripping onto the atomizer and having fluid run into the battery. Now they have sealed manuals but I digress for the standard auto model it's perfect for dipping. The battery charge is clearly superior to that of the 510 without a doubt. That's the biggest difference in my mind between the two models right there. The 510 has a bigger juice reservoir which is nice, but you won't get through too many before you have to charge it for an hour. The other difference between them is the fact that the 510 comes standard as a manual model meaning you have to press a button to heat the atomizer to create the vapor. The Dragon or m401 is automatic and it starts producing vapor when you suck on it like a tobacco cigarette.

I can't say a whole lot about the 901 since I have not used one. I do know that it is one of the top three that is recommended.

You can get the 510 otherwise called a Yeti, Dura, or some other names at tons of places. You can get a nice cheap little starter kit for $32 shipped from Innovapor.com. It's what I call a bare bones or a spare kit since it only has the one complete E-Cig in it and 5 carts with a little bottle of juice as well. It's the perfect kit for someone looking to try it out without spending a lot, or for the seasoned E-Cig smoker who is looking for a spare to have around in case their primary breaks. Only difference between that a regular kit is that regular kits have 2 complete E-Cigs in them and maybe a wall charger as well.

You can get a EVO kit from there as well which is the m401 model, and as with the 510 above the bare bones/spare kit has just the one complete E-Cig and everything you need to start using an E-Cig. I believe the EVO kit was slightly more than the 510 kit but still cheap.

Look up the E-Cig supplier links page and visit a few of them to check out the prices, you will find that they all stay within a few dollars of each other but with some research and effort you can hunt down a good deal. There literally are too many places to easily list that sell these models.

I started with the evo and liked it at first. Till I got a 510 kit from a friend. I haven't touched my evo since. The evo has the automatic batteries which shut down after about 5 seconds. I had to draw on it really hard and by the end of the day, my cheeks would hurt from sucking so hard. It has a much longer battery life than the 510 though

The 510 with the manual batts is perfect for me. I can choose how long of a draw I want and I also don't have to suck so hard. I have a PCC so the shorter batt life is not an issue for me.

You can get a nice 'no box' 510 kit from cignot.com for $35. I ordered one for my husband on Monday and it came yesterday. I ordered another for my back up this morning.

I'm curious, would you switch back if the EVO had a manual battery?

If it had a manual battery AND didn't kill me to draw on it, I might try it. I had alot of inconsistent vapor production also and 3 out of the 7 batteries I bought were DOA.
Fair enough. I've never had anything other than consistantly good vapour from EVOs (although I have had some less than satisfying results from other M401s). Never had any probs with batteries either, other than ones I caused myself in my early days.

first proper ecig= two choices..you want an auto go 901, you want push button go 510

both good models to get to grips with it all and 2 good performers

as for from where , well we don't know where your at so can't help there:)

Based on my very limited experience, I tend to agree with that.

Got my wife a 901 and I have a 510. Love them both. Every once in a while I grab hers, and once in a while she grabs mine. Sometimes we trade e-cigs too... (!!) :pervy:

I just know it say's e-cigarette on it. It looks like a real cig. I bought refills and it works better. I didn't have a problem with the taste, nothing was comming out when I was drawing on it at all. I thought it was a charging problem. The charger it came with looks like a regular pack of cig's and you plug it into the wall. Thank you for your help. I would like to know a safe an good product to replace this one. Just having problems quitting.

One thing to take into account with new /different models is the size of the things & the shape of the mouthpiece.

M401s are the same width as a cigarette, 510s are slightly thicker, 901s have a flat "cigarette holder" style mouthpiece. Some people just don't get on with the different styles & sizes.

I know I wouldn't like a flat mouthpiece & Angela doesn't like the slightly larger Titan (510) compared to her EVO.

Horses for courses...

It's all confusing, isn't it?

I bought the SE (Smoking Everywhere) 4081 to begin with. Then the 901, 801 pen model and finally the 510.

I wouldn't recommend automatic batteries (the ones that cut you off automatically) to anyone. The push buttons (manuals) work much better for me.

If I had to pick my fav out of these 4, that's easy...........the 510 rocks.

Battery life is lower though and I would recommend buying some extra batteries and at least one extra atomizer just in case. And don't forget juice. Those cartridges go fast.

Manual batteries are also available for the 901 but I don't think they come in the kits that way.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've essentially broke it down as everyone has been explaining and recommended. I focused on a choice of three models - the 510, 801, and 901. I found a supplier with a variant model of the said three, and searched it on here to see what people's reviews are. After half a day of research I boiled it down to the Joye 510, DSE801, and DSE901. As far as I'm aware the first set of three compared to the second are exactly the same, I've see different letters/names in front of the numbers, but they are the same. I had these three choices;

Joye 510 - Mini style - Shortest among the three and the closest resemblance to an analog, though still very noticeably bigger. All I've seen have a rounded mouthpiece.

DSE901 - Mini style - Between the other two as far as size is considered. Most, if not all, I've seen has a flat mouthpiece.

DSE810 - Pen style - Much bigger compared to the previous two, resembles a pen more than an analog, and while the other two can look like one piece, there is a clear definition between the battery and atomizer in the DSE801. All I've seen are a flat mouthpiece.

If size of the PV does not effect your act of smoking, then the only consideration for the sizes is they follow a general rule. The bigger the longer all of it lasts. Except the atomizer life, which as far as I've seen it varies insanely - probably from how they are used, juices, etc. But the bigger, the longer the battery charge lasts, and less often you are changing the cart.

From my experience, you choose the model you want - you choose every piece you want for the most part. From what I hear and concluded, until you actually get into the only thing you want to concern over is the switch on the battery(auto or manual).

I know this probably isn't that helpful as I'm still awaiting my PV in the mail. I just would like to share what my research narrowed everything down to.

I ended with a purchase of a DSE801 with a manual battery.

Like you, I was really confused to start out. I bought the "greensmoke" and the "red dragon" to start out. I like the automatic vs. manual(just inhale, don't press a button) and really like the two piece cartomizers(no dripping, just twist and go) I smoked Marlboros for 18 years and have completely quit for 11 days now. I don't miss em either. The E-Cig I ended up loving was the Vapor King from Vapor4life. They ship fast, ANSWER YOUR CALLS/E-MAILS, and the products are very reasonable and GREAT QUALITY! check out the vapor4life forum for more info.

Ok, I've been reading all this on here and now I'm a little confused. Please excuse my lack of knowledge. What is an atty and a atomizer? Also, I would like to purchase a 501 kit. Where (finally) is THE absolute BEST place to go to (online) to purchase a COMPLETE kit? I'm really excited about this whole e-cig craze! I'm getting some for friends for Xmas!! Thanks to all and any who can help me!
