Help! I'm an idiot!

Hello, everyone. I'm very sad that my first thread here has to be some blatant begging for help, but I apparently suck. :p

I purchased a pair of 901's (as in - 2 atomizers and 2 batteries) from TW and I've been vaping with them for about 65% of my pack a day smoking since last Friday. I actually sat through Spikey's video twice to make sure I got it all before I started, and I've been dripping a bit -- not too much, as far as I thought (maybe 2 drops 3-4 times a day). On Saturday afternoon, my first atomizer died on me -- it would still heat up, but there was no vapor production whatsoever. I cleaned it and left it upside down on a paper towel on my desk for 24 hours. Sunday rolled around and the atomizer still didn't work -- there would be vapor production on the first puff, but none thereafter.

Today, my other atomizer stopped functioning. It's not even heating up -- it just plain doesn't work anymore. I blew out a great deal of liquid (much more than the two drops I'd placed on the atomizer after a day of vaping at work -- probably 40-50 puffs without so much as checking it). It worked in the car ride on the way home...just not afterwards (like an hour later).

It seems like I'm doing something wrong on this, which is sad, since I truly believe I can switch completely to eSmoking. Is there anyone who maybe was once a noob such as myself and did this, too? As it stands, I have a couple of garbage eCigarettes from DealExtreme which I can drip on, but if these die too, I'll be taking a loan to buy cigarettes. Figuratively, of course.

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

I believe your atomizers are dead. It's always a good idea to have several backups available. They run around 10 bucks over at puresmoker.com.

I also have a 901 and I have 4 that I rotate in use and 4 backups. They may have been bad atomizers from the get. Dripping the way you said you are should not have done anything to it. Overdripping, if anything, floods the battery. it should not kill the atomizer.

If the atomizers are a recent purchase, I would suggest that you return them for new ones and hang on in there until they arrive. While your at it, pick up a few more.

The one that stopped heating today got the hell beaten out of it just now and seems to be working like a champ again. The one that still heats up hasn't responded to anything and is definitely getting returned (I've already spoken with the merchant and they are taking care of it).

And two or three more atomizers are on the menu for payday. :)

Slurch, if you really like dripping your 901, and don't like paying to replace batteries every week or so, I would suggest looking into building your own battery pack with a manual switch instead of the sticky automatic switch that the OEM batteries have. I get a much more consistent throat hit and vapor with mine, and no chance of killing a battery with liquid. You can build one for about 6 dollars and a little of your time and effort.

I do mostly dipping/dripping also. Mostly I dip from a shot glass (put in about 6-7 drops of eliquid in bottom of the shot glass) I tend to flood the atomizer much less when dipping, compared to when I drip. I have a simular model (Pilot M-401). I flood my atomizer often. I use a Q-Tip dampened with rubbing alcohol and swab the contacts of the battery and atomizer (not the small holes themselves though). Eliquid residue eventually makes it's way down to the battery and will enter the small hole.
When you loose power and you know the battery is fresh, dis-connect atomizer and blow into the small battery hole. Does the LED at the tip glow? If not, there probably is liquid inside the battery. I use compressed air and blow the small hole out. When it gets worse, and blowing doesn't seem to last long I will blow out with a electronic spray. It is a spray made to clean electrical components. You can buy spray at a auto parts store. That will rid the battery of residue, and keep it running smooth again. If you try this, use caution as the spray will shoot out the hole with force. You don't want the stuff in your face, eyes, etc. It dries very fast, just make sure that it is dry before using it again.

Smoke Free 33 days.

After giving your atomizer a good BANG and got it working again, it may be that that particular atomizer had a loose wire somewhere in there and banging the hell out of it got it back in place.

Good for you !!

As for the other one, you have tried dripping on it a little more after draining it overnight or cleaning it right? It just may as well be clogged as well. If you dripped it a few times more and it still does not work, then try one of the hundreds of cleaning methods found on this forum. I usually clean my atomizers under running tap water (HOT) then sink them into a glass of water overnight, then rinse again, blow into the battery end of the atomizer for all the excess water to come out, then drain/dry upside down over night.

The next day, I prime them up, and vape. Sometimes it'll take a while for it to kick in so I just continue to dripp 1-2 drops, vape, drip again, vape until it gets going.

Yes, it seems like alot of work (That's why I got the Vapor King but that's another thread) but after a while, a few minutes of maintenance won't kill you.

Here goes some tips for using ecigs correctly.

1. Before using the new e-cigarette, please do insert a new cartridge and wait several miniutes for the liquid flowing into the atomizer. Atomizer may be spoilt if working without liquid in.

2. Sometimes the atomzer doesn't work properly just because the residual e-liquid in the atomizer affect the working. Please try following steps to solve the problem with the atomzer:
a. Screw off the atomzer from the battery.
b. Blow the atomizer from the mouth piece end, try a little hard to blow the e-liquid out of the atomizer.
c. Install a new cartridge, wait 10~20 miniutes, try smoking it again.

3.The electromagnetic sensors in the batteries can be heavily affected or destroyed if e-juice leaks in. When/If dripping directly onto the atomizer, please never use more than 2 drops! Also, frequently clean the metal end of the battery as another method to prevent this.

Another thought, try adding a couple of drops of glycerine to your cartridge as that helps to produce more vape.

Hope it would be helpful.:)

i have a similar problem but mine is different.

i just got this new ecig on tuesday(its a m402) and it was working fine i put the brand new cartridge in and waited a while and tried it and it worked just fine. i finished that cartdige and was refilling it and it was still fine (ive only dripped on the atomizer twice while refilling and even then it was only one drop) ive refilled and topped it off maybe twice for each.

well i was gunna refill it yesterday but i figured hey since they gave me 5 new cartridges i might as well use them so i opened a brand new one and threw it on. i waited a little while because im not really sure if its ok to use it right after replacing the cartridge so after a while i went to use it and when i took a drag nothing not even lighting up

so i took a harder drag and it lit up like it was working but i got a whole bunch of liqiud in my mouth. so i think i flooded it but i tryed draining it(placed it upside down on a paper towel to soak up the liquid and now its not working. how did it get flooded it was a factory cartridge?

i drained it and im trying to get it to work but nothing . it lights up but i have to suck pretty hard and even then nothing no vapor.
what do i do i didnt buy a back up atomizer because im dumb and didnt know?
how could it have broken in 3 days? its the weekend now i need it.
and im sure people are gunna be like didnt you just buy en electronic cig? where is it? how did it break?

And does anyone out there know if the atomizers from totally wicked will fit my m402 from absolutelyecigs.com?
because ordering from china takes a little long for it to get to my house

Thanks for all the help, guys. I really appreciate the time. :)

The properly functioning one is starting to pull that, too, so I'm thinking that it's some combination of wool/clogged atomizer/my stupidity. I'll try the cleaning again, this time with the glass of water overnight. It still works, but the vapor production is pretty unsatisfying, and I have to take 2 or 3 primer puffs to even see vapor...and this is akin to drinking a McDonald's milkshake WITH the straw. Clogged atomizer?

Thanks again for the help.

You might try taking a Can of Air (computer isles at wal-mart?) and putting the tube in the hole in the atomizer and lettin it rip... do the same with the battery hole as well...

It should help blow it out while saving you effort..

The only thing is, make SURE after you see it blow the stuff out that you blow it out manually without inhaling afterwards and let it sit for a bit... they add chemicals to the canned air now days to keep kids from huffing it... so its liable to taste bad unless you wait...

I had a battery get a little juice in it and it wasnt activating at all... I sprayed the canned air in it and it started glowing at the tip for a while, let it set, and now it works fine...

I just got my 901 yesterday and was having the same prob, Ive watched alot of videos and read alot of posts. I'm wondering if I am putting enough liquid in I thought the videos said 3 or 4 drops but it seems like its drying up FAST how many drops should I put in?

Put in as many drops as the material will absorb - right up until it begins to pool at the top. Usually you can get even more in if you use a toothpick or a pin to poke around down between the material and the side of the cartridge, letting air out so the liquid can absorb better and get all the way down.
