Ok so my husband and I are both looking to buy electronic cigs. We eventually would like to quit. For now our main reason is to save money. Cigs where I live are 7 a pack and we are on a tight budget, since I am no longer working. I've looked at a few e cigs on ebay, mainly health e cigs, and they seem to be a great price. However I looked at reviews on them and they don't seem to be that great. So i headed over to the mall to a little kiosk and dude wanted 150$ for one starter kit. To be honest I was looking to spend like 60 on 2, don't know if that is possible. So then i'm looking into other options and WOW i did not know there were so many. And deff don't know what half the crap means. usb charger box charger blah blah blah.. I JUST DONT KNOW.. SO I’d like any kind of feedback on brands that you have used liked and are cheap, and what exactlly we need to get started. Please and thank you..

PS I we both smoke a pack day of either camel or Marlboro menthol lights..

Common recommendations are Joye 510 or Kr808D-1 both cigarette sized shortish battery life but for a Pack a day smoker they will suffice with charging availability.

or eGo 510 or a clone (Riva kGo Tornado etc.) 1.5 times the diameter of a cigarette with high capacity batteries which will last an pack a day smoker just about all day plus has may options to explore.

Dont' be afraid to ask questions we are more than happy to answer them all.

If you do go with the 510 or 808, (these are cig'ish in shape and size), I'd recommend a personal charging case or, if you're at a desk all the time, then a usb charger. That way the battery should last a day.

*Please note this is my opinion, you may not need these things.

Personally, I went with an eGo because of the battery life (it lasts me the day).

I agree with the previous two posters on the recommended styles and brands...

If you haven't already, please take a look at the "stickied" topics in this forum, particularly these three (links below). I remember very well how confusing it all was when I was first contemplating trying ecigs, but these 3 topics in particular were very helpful in clearing it all up as well as the very helpful members of ECF for any additional questions you might have!

Good luck and welcome! :)

I'd say 510 or ego, skip the pre-packaged name brand types (ala Blu) - they're fun but the refill cost adds up quick. I was smoking a pack a day of Camel menthol crush at $10 a pack, now I spend about $20-30 a month on fluid and accessories. JoyE or Brother 510's are good (similar size to a cigarette), a couple spare atomizers, cartridges - and as far as smoke juice I'd recommend the Ikenvape RY4 or try the Johnson Creek sampler pack to find something that strikes your fancy.

OK so I'm looking at a startet kit for the joye510 starter kit.. It comes with

1-Joye510 starter Kit(2-battery, 2-Atomizers, 1-wall charger, 1Usb Charger, 5-Cartridges and User Manual )
4-Cases Of Cartridges (20 Cartridges) Of Your Choice !
2-E-liquids 30ML Bottles Of Your Choice !
1-Metal Case

does this have everything to get me started? and its a combo pack so i'm assuming that contains 2? and what the heck is the liquid for?

thank you!

The Bloog MaxxFusion is definitely worth taking a look at. It uses cartomizers which are easy to fill and work and taste a lot better than 808 cartos (in my opinion, have used both). I'd recommend getting a starter kit with a PCC (personal charging case), you'll be set for the day as one battery will always be charged and ready to swap in the charging case. The case is about the size of an iPhone and has digital readings for the case and battery charging.

eGo's are also great (battery life about 6-8 hours) but is more the size of a cigar. If you want something similar in size to a cigarette, I highly recommend the Bloog.

Except the setup your recommending cost about $100 and she's looking for two kits for $60.

To be honest, I wouldn't get the 510. The battery doesn't last long- only a couple of hours. Not that I don't like the 510, I own one. But you'd really need more than two batteries. I'd go with the ego from Liberty Flights for $29.99.

The liquid is the juice that contains the nicotine that you vape (smoke). You either put the juice in a cartridge that connects to an atomizer which you put on your battery, or you get cartomizers, which are cartridges and atomizer combined. The cartridge is much easier to use.

But the Riva ego kit that was recommended has batteries that last 8+ hours.

I'd suggest having a read through The Wonderful World of Vaping here on ECF. It's a 6-part thread that covers pretty much everything about ecigs in a nutshell.

To quickly answer you on what e-liquid is.. It's the flavoured nicotine liquid that you put into your cartridge or cartomizer. This gets vaporized and is what you inhale. e-Liquid comes in varying strengths from 0mg to 36mg normally and in almost any flavour you can imagine. It's usually a good idea to buy a few different strengths and flavours in smaller bottles when you start out to find what works best for you.

Health ecig is weak model and just a way to waste money until you buy something better
Stay away from the mall, TV ads, and bs sites. The mall and the seedy upper crust of ecig sellers on the web are both full of HUGE ripoffs and HUGE lies about how many cigs a cart equals.

figuring 100mah is about an an hour of battery charge, 2 hours for a light vaper

Joye 510 180mah
Joye 510 w/ mega xl batteries 280mah
KR808D-1 (sold a bit higher at Vapor4Life in colors) 280mah for the standard battery

And if you need super long battery charge then you have to go to fat-battery models
Ego or Riva 510 - 650mah to 1300mah

Are both of you mostly close to power for charging during the day? You can use a PCC but it could be hard to make the short 510's stay charged all day without AC or USB power since a PCC can only do 3-4 recharges.

The kit you're describing comes with 2 batteries and 2 atomizers, plus cartridges and e-liquid, so yes...that would be everything you would need to get ~started~. If you're considering purchasing this, please bear in mind that the typical battery life for a Joye 510 is approx. 1-3 hours (depending on how much you use it) before it needs to be recharged. That's a reason why the starter kits always come with 2 batteries..so that you can use one while the other is re-charging. If you're thinking of both you and your husband sharing the same kit, you may find yourselves with nothing to vape for a couple hours once the batteries need to recharge.

I can't recommend enough that you take a look at the "stickied" topics that a few people have suggested to you to learn a bit more before jumping in and making a purchase right away. You'd mentioned that money is a bit tight for you right now (as it is for me and alot of others as well in this economy), so it's really going to pay to take your time and learn as much as you can first. I particularly recommend MistressNomad's video series for newbies which breaks it all down very nicely....

Good luck!

Three weeks ago I was EXACTLY where you are. I have wasted a lot of money. Get 2 BB or Silver Bullets from Alt Smoke.(BB is just a little smaller than the Silver Bullet and has a smaller battery.) Just bought my husband his SB today. I have been using mine for 3 days. LOVE IT! Get 3 batteries for each and 3 atties each for a 510. Make sure everything is 510 because I accidently got 801 carts and they don't fit. Wasted money. Get 1 charger because this will charge both the types of batteries you get 2 at a time. Get 2 packs of 5 carts for a 510. And pick out some juice. This will cost more NOW, but you will save a LOT in the long run.

Like I said I am only 3 weeks in but that is my two cents.

Good luck on your new adventure! Vaping is great!!!!

Two e-cigs for $60? Well, guess what? It is possible, and you get good quality as well. Go to Liberty Flights site, click on the discount button in the upper left, and check out the Riva 510. This also happens to be a big battery model, so the charge lasts longer than the cigarette looking ones.

+1 to this with the dicount code october20 Two kits are 73.25 with shipping. Just add them to cart and when you're in the cart add promotion code and type it in. Here's the link to the kit.
