I am very very new to the idea of vaping. I found this forum in doing some research. So far I have tried some different disposables...hated blu then got a green smoke, and am really feeling like this could be my answer to ditch analogs for good. I am really looking for some suggestions on a good rechargeable type to start with, what device worked for you, and/or affordable and reputable vendors. From what i have read it seems that there is a lot of personal preference in choosing a device, so even other thoughts on what is important to look for would be helpful. There are so many things online that I was feeling a little overwhelmed (probably by lack of understanding), so I am hoping ECF can help me stream line all of this info. I know I don't want to break the bank with my first purchase, but want nothing more than for this to be successful to get rid of my analogs

Hi, you came to the right place to ditch those smokes. I'm pretty new and smoked 2 packs a day for over 40 years. I never smoked another cigarette after the day I started vaping. I got a nice starter kit and it is still working for me. Many people start out with it and have success.

Here is a link to the kit. It is made by Kanger, which is a reliable brand. It comes with 2 ego style batteries, and two toppers for your juice, and a charger. It is everything you need to get started except some e juice. This is a reliable vendor with good customer service if you should need it.

If you use the code ECF at checkout you get 10% off, making it about $30, and the shipping is free. I ordered this kit for myself, and then ordered another one for my granddaughter, too.

Kanger EVOD eGo Full Kit - Vaping Me

PS this place also sells e juice, too. There are lots of online places to buy juice, and if you have a local vape shop, they will have juices also.

Hi and welcome to ECF, congratulations on wanting to quit smoking. I am pretty new to vaping on and off a few times with store bought ecigs the ones that you would by in a gas station. For me i found they did not due the trick I was smoking for 30 something years and after reading these forums i went with a Halo Triton kit because of its simplicity and ease of use. Also got great reviews. To make a long story short have not touched a analog in 8 days. Again its personal preference but thats what worked for me.

Hi there, and welcome to the forum. I guess most of us started with a few disposables and then moved up from there. You'll get lots of recommendations to your post... mine is the Innokin iTaste vv v3.0... a relatively small device that is variable voltage/wattage (meaning you control the amount of power sent to your atomizer), and can be used while it is charging on either a computer, wall charger or car charger. But, it's just one of many fine products, I'm sure.

My main advice is don't make the mistake I did; investing a lot of money in a system that you'll outgrow in a matter of weeks. I bought the V2 "cigalike"... and while it's really a pretty good product for what it is, I quickly realized that the KR808D batteries (which are similar to a cigarette in size) just didn't meet my long-term needs (and I'm not that heavy a vapor).

So, do some reading before you invest, and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you. Like a lot of folks, I quit smoking the day my first starter kit arrived; I hope you'll have that quick success, but if not, give it time... it works!

Welcome to the forum. Before anyone starts telling you what to buy, I would advise you to do a lot of research on the devices. Know exactly what you are buying, how the tanks and how the batteries work, etc. Vaping requires a bit of homework to do it safely and comfortably. With that being said, Most people start off with a Ego style battery like the Ego-C from joyetech or the iTaste VV from Innokin. For the tank, the Kanger EVOD or protank mini are good starter tanks.

Agreed do the research again its all up to your preference and comfort zone.

Hello and welcome to ECF

first question first....are you wanting something that looks like a cigarette or are you willing to step out of the comfort zone and go for something better that doesn't look like a cigarette?

If you like the green smoke disposable there is (if it's still valid)
If you are determined to stick to the it must look like a cigarette...the best cig-a-like battery that I have tried so far would be the greensmoke battery and the good news is ;) you can get a starter kit for the price of shipping and buy an adapter so you can then use any and all cartomizers with it!

Free Greensmoke Starter Kit, while supplies last for new users only

and then the cheapest e9 to 510 adapter I've found (and use)
E9 to 510 adapter

So for like $5 to $10 you can't beat a complete kit ;) one battery, one usb charger and some cartomizers and then the adapter to be able to use any 510 cartomizers or 510 tanks ;)

if you are willing to move away from it must look like a cigarette a few things to keep in mind
Some things to keep in mind:
Try to stick to pv's (personal vapors) that have both the 510 and ego connections this way you have all kinds of options when it comes to juice delivery systems.

Variable Voltage (vv) = everyone's taste is different so you can set your voltage up or down to help suit your needs as well as different juices and different juice delivery systems (cartomizers, tanks, ect) taste different at different voltages. (how many times can I say different)

Variable Wattage (vw) I haven't tried yet but assuming it is the same principle as stated above for vv.

Pass-through battery to be able to vape while charging.

the higher the mAh the longer the battery life

do you prefer a warm vape (top coil) or a cool vape (bottom coil)? top coil vs bottom coil tanks, to each their own...but go with glass or metal so that there's no worries about tank cracking juices.

so that aside my best advice that was given to me and is currently my only pv is to take the flying leap save yourself wasted money from buying the cigarette-look-alikes and go for a better battery...

Please take a moment to check out my blog for some info and then ideas of cheap "kits"
New Vapor Starter Kits

Vaping is such a personal experience, so obviously everyone's perfect kit will be different and we will need more info about you and your needs. This post is more aimed to those that are ready to move away from cig-a-likes and into the vaping world.

I have gone through the past year of lurking in this forum and what I have learned and tried to piece together to my best a good starter kit for cheap.

Just to give you an idea of the size of devices
Size Does Matter
For those out there with the "size problem"
Here is something to give a good judgement

Best of luck in your new adventure

I am also new to vaping. Smoked for about 38 years and liked it. Coworker showed me his miniprotank 2. Then I remembered my last doctor visit. Doctor said if you keep smoking you will have a heart attack or stroke. Went to local vape shop and picked up mini pro tank two 650 ego batteries and a couple of juice flavors. Have not looked back. Now have about 10 juice flavors, three mini pro tank's and a t-dux 2.0. I am still smoking about three cigarettes on weekdays and none on the weekend. I am enjoying vaping and plan to stop any cigarettes, maybe! Lot's of great information on this forum. Thanks to all. PS I am looking at upgrading to a provari

I ordered a 1300mah VV ego winder kit from Madvapes. They day I got it I put down the analogs and never looked back. I used it for a month then got an MVP2.0 And by the way I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 35 years

I use the EVOD battery with Kangertech BBC (Bottom Coil) 1.8 ohms and it got me off the cigs. I have tried a few eliquid blends but have found the Joytech USA mix VG 16mg to be perfect as a all day vape but a bit pricey.

Quitting smoking is something you have to want to accomplish. Given that, vaping does help replace the nicotine and in many cases takes care of the physical habit of the smoking process.

For me it was helpful to also vape when and where I would have smoked, and maybe even more important is to simply not smoke again. When the desire strikes, vape but don't light up. With time you will replace the long supported habits with new ones that while similar are very different.

If you have the money for great equipment spend it on the best gear for vaping and find a liquid you really enjoy. You'll be surprised at how well you feel in as little as a week.

Couple other real basic suggestions....

Budgets are an issue for most of us, but try to go ahead and buy 2 batteries in whatever brand you choose (unless you go for a mod that lasts a couple of days on a charge). Most good "entry level" eGo/Innokin/Evod type batteries will be in the 650 to 900 mah range (you can go higher but the physical size of the unit starts to grow if you do); they'll last (very generally) 6 to 8 hours on a charge, depending a lot on how much you vape. It's really a good idea to have 2 batteries so you don't find yourself without. Most "starter kits" will include 2 bats. If you buy piecemeal, try to buy 2.

And second, for now you can probably skip right buy all the posts about things like "mechanical mods", "rebuildable atomizers", "sub-ohm vaping"... and I'm sure lots of other topics. Nothing wrong with those pursuits, of course, but as a beginner you probably don't want to get to heavily into the electrical engineering side of things (I know I don't).

I didn't have any luck using the Blu either. I tried it years ago and gave up. My husband brought me an Evod starter kit and I quit smoking 2 days later. I wasn't even wanting to stop smoking either. I just loved the Evod so much more. The first 2-3 days were a little tough bc I still kind of wanted an analog. After that it was so easy. It was actually effortless to be honest. You may be able to try some different setups at a vape shop.

Welcome to vaping! I might be new to the forums, but I've been vaping for well over two years.

I started with the Blu and the Greensmoke too, but in the end it wasn't enough for me. Again, preference will change for everyone, but I personally really enjoyed vaping once I moved up to an Ego-C Twist by Joyetech, with a Kanger Protank for juice delivery.

I had stopped vaping and went back to analogs when I was trying with the Blus, because I had thought that's all there was. Once I tried it again, and moved up to an Ego Twist, then eventually an Innokin iTaste MVP, I was permanently and forever hooked

And you're right, it certainly is a bit overwhelming at first. But remember that we're here to help, because we want to see you get off those nasty analogs as well. You deserve it. Your body deserves it. Your family deserves to see you live a longer life (sorry, the miracle of e-cigs in my life makes me emotional; lol). :)

Do your research on all of the suggestions that people give you, and watch tons of YouTube video reviews of the products to see how they work, how much vapor they produce, how easy they are to use, etc. to make sure it's something you want to try. So long as you find a kit you think you will like, you will not go back, trust me.

From there, you just have to find some juice you like. All of my local shops are pretty awful, but if you have a place in your area, go in, and ask if they have sample-sized bottles you can buy to try different flavors for a low cost. Most places do, or will work with you to meet your budget.

Oh, and I recommend buying your chosen kit (a kit is typically a battery, a "tank" (this word is used very loosely here because it might not always be a tank, it's just what I recommend), and a charger) online, unless your local vape shops have decent prices. I live in the south, and local shops here try to price gouge, so I would go to a local shop and compare to what is online to make sure you're getting a good deal.

Other than that, we're here to help. If you have an issues with your devices, or you need suggestions, or you just want to shoot the breeze or need motivation, we're here for you. We want you to quit too. That's what makes this community and entire vaping experience so awesome. You have a whole new family here to help you with this stuff (though some of us might be a bit insane, heheh).

Best of luck, and can't wait to see you around the forums!

First off welcome, best advice..no matter what battery or vape your looking into IE protank series, iclears, aspire series, cartos, you will have 20 people say OMG its the most amazing thing ever. Then you will have 20 other people say OMG this thing is junk i cant believe i wasted my money on this. So i will not say do your research, though it is a necessary thing of couse, just be mindfull that nothing out there is perfect and there are so many interchangeables and variables out there that over time with experience(some good and bad) that will eventually lead you to the best vape that will keep you off analogs. I could tell you that i love my aspire nautilus and it is a difference between night and day from my previous kanger aerotank, but after you do your research you will find the exact opposite of what i personally encountered. All i can say is dont give up and dont get discouraged when you find yourself not pleased with what you have, just start exploring other options until your happy with what style you like. Good luck

Finding good juive is hard locally but I have found a place here in Surrey B.C. that makes there own and it has been good so far. I'm smoking ez-vape 70/30 cafe vanilla 18mg. I'm going to up grade to a vv 1100 Mah battery soon......
