Okay, Stone II tank. It's been cleaned once but was doing this on the 2nd day. I'll be vaping and it's working fine then I'll start getting dry hits. This is with tilting it, holding it horizontally, tipping the bottom upward, etc. So, to fix it, I have to turn it. Say I'm vaping with the button facing the ceiling, I have to turn it so it's facing me. Or to one side or the other. Or some random direction between.

And it's not consistent. I have to keep turning it til I find the place where I can actually get a regular hit. Then after a few, I have to do it again.

It's frustrating me :( Is there any kind of tinkering I can do to fix it? Reseating the seal doesn't work, it's lined up with the wicks. I just can't for the life of me figure out what's going on with it. Hubby's getting his vision regular today and I have half a mind to ninja it from him.

For what it's worth, this is on a standard ego battery with various types of juice: 100% vg, 70/30 pg/vg, 100% pg. Battery charge doesn't seem to have anything to do with it. Neither does juice level.

Help me!! :vapor: And, if possible, dumb it down a bit for me

i dont have an answer for you but would be interested to know as well. i have the same problem with the 2 tanks i got (i had the same prob. with the stardust with 100%vg but once i changed to higher pg content, the dry hits went away.

the stone tank gave me dry hits about half 60% of the time no matter how i held it. then i would put it on its side for an hour and i got the wonderful gurgling and juice in my mouth...go figure.

Well I don't know if this fixed it or not but so far so good:

I tugged on the wicks a bit to get them coming out straighter toward the tube rather than angled downward. I also changed the way they were arranged in the tank so that they were laying toward the same side of the tank. That way, if I tilt it with the juice covering both of the wicks, I seem to be getting more consistent hits. I'll update if this stops working.

What you did is what we refer to as "Wick Fluffing".

Sometimes the Wick gets folded over at the slots and e-Liquid doesn't wick as well as it should. Fluffing up the Wick helps with this problem.

Sometimes the wick is laying Flat in the Slot and there is a gap where e-Liquid can come into the "Cup" area causing Flooding and Leaking. Fluffing the wick cures this problem also.

I suggested to gotvapes one time that they should print T-Shirts that said, "Have you Fluffed Your Wick Today?"

It's still not really working :( I'm beginning to think that this thing just isn't for me. After everything I've tried and after following every suggestions (multiple times) I'm getting inconsistent hits, periodic flooding, sporadic leaking. It's still amazing vapor and a wonderful experience when it does work but it's not enough to outweigh the trouble. I'm eyeing my husband's new vision extreme regular right now with great jealousy

It'll make a great occasional/backup tank. For now I'll vape it dry and switch back to dripping til we get our refund. Then I'll stock up on lots of other stuff and find some things that suit me better.

Thank you all very much for the help thus far :)

I'm having some of the exact same problems. I find I have to keep it moving to keep it wet. Rotating, tilting, etc. When I do it's great. The only thing that really annoys me is the occasional flooding. If I do a few back to back hits I get the gurgling and have to blow it out and clean out the battery connection. If it weren't for that I'd like with the keeping it moving part. Going to try some Visions on my next order.

BINGO!!, welcome to my world. mine actually vapes fine and I don't get dry hits, but constantly i'm having to clean out the battery connection as its got liquid in it. I'm positive its from the vent style on these as the ce2s and vision regulars with the holes for vents don't seem to exhibit this problem. the vision giants do exhibit this problem as well with same vent style but not as much. I have been using a vision giant I saw somewhere that sells the low resistance version. Gotvapes doesn't sell these but it is better in regards to flooding the top of the battery.

I noticed that, too (that once it gets lower it doesn't do it as much). Today I have a new problem, though. I cleaned and dry-burned to change juices, and now it's leaking from the threads for the top cap. I do believe that all of these problems are related to the venting as robl45 said. It's almost like it's creating a vacuum and sucking juice into the cup. Good luck on the others. I am hooked on Fluxos (with the cup seal mod), so I hope you find them pleasing! I'll be ordering some of the Visions in a couple weeks when I need more Menthol Mania juice. We'll see how those work out...

Mine doesn't flood as much once it gets a bit lower in juice. It's hard to find that sweet spot where it wicks well but doesn't flood.

Either way, getting a vision stretch today and have a giant and nano in a few days plus some fluxos so hopefully I'll find my favorite.

I've also found I have to constantly tilt and rotate these to get good hits. I think it's because the tank is so large, tilting alone isn't enough to get both sides of the wicks near the cup wet unless the tank is almost full. I started vaping a menthol juice out of mine, and I don't notice the occasional dry hits nearly as much that way, so I think my stone will be my designated menthol tank. I can't wait until the grande gets here tomorrow. I hear those things are all I want and more!

Edit: The grande rocks!

First off, I think that the Stone II and Vornado are awesome, but not with anything higher than 50% VG. I have not tried them with any of my beloved Boba's or Gorilla Juice because I had a hard enough time getting them to work with a 70% VG juice. However... I have not tried any of the Virgin Vapor liquids on them - they tend to be thinner (and she's selling the Stone tanks on the VV site, so they must work for her).

I did get great use out of my Stone II once I fluffed the wick, and turned it upside down when the liquid got low. I also found that running hot water on the coil / wick after each tank helped the performance quite a bit. I never had a problem with any of them leaking. (if they gurgled, I just blew out extra liquid, like on a Vision or Fluxo)

Sadly, I popped the coil on my Stone II already, so I'm waiting on those replacement parts, but they do work (and fluffing the wick helps).

For thicker VG juice, I will probably stick to the Visions, and expect to replace them more often because VG really does gunk up the coils pretty quickly. Once the coil gets gunky, the flavor starts to deteriorate.

Don't get me wrong, I like the stone, and it does work, but the constant flipping is not something I want to do all the time. When you get gunk on the visions extreme coils, do you try a dry burn? That usually cleans it right up for me.

the new v3 stone will be revealed soon. im also waiting on word on bottom peaces of v1 and v2.

they are testing 4 wick stone as we speak.

the v3 stone should be rather impressive all around, they are keeping a close eye on it as its being beta'd.

Oh, that sounds really good - I'll definitely get that one. The cool look and functionality of the Stone with the bit****g wicking power of the Grande. Fantastic! :)

BTW, I love my female dog, so that "b" word is not a rude one, and a big compliment in my book. Never could figure out why it's used the way it is. :)

Right. I feel that I have something to add here that may help.
I have had the same problem. But not just with the stone. The problem of dry hits doesn't seem to be coming from the design of the unit, but from how much I vape. By that I mean that I vape heavily and the wick system just cannot keep up. That may be your problem right there. Not a design flaw really, just not designed to be vaped like it's going out of style.

If your out vaping the stone (Or any other top coil wick design) My proposed are solutions, either:
get a higher nic level in your juice or try out the dual coil cartos.

I've found that dual coil cartos are the only design that keep up with me now. (I'm trying to switch to Low nic - 6 mgpml)
They look scary because they have batting like crappy olds-school cartos but they work. Swear.
