My box of new flavors from Faeries Finest came wrapped in a plastic apology from the post office. The original packing box was soaking wet inside the plastic. One of the bottles was crushed so bad there bottom was completely blown out, another was smashed so flat it got a hole in it. The other four bottles were fine. I know my total order was only $27.00, but this sucks. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do about it. I need some information before I go confront the postmaster (my aunt) in the morning.

They should pay you for the total of what was damaged.Since she is your aunt you may get somewhere. If not go over her head to the Post Master General. After all it was your money that paid for the items and shipping and they should have been more careful.Good luck with your outcome.

ummm.. yea, GOOD LUCK getting any $$ from them... lol.. they won't pay squat unless the packaged was insurred to begin with, and even then its like pulling teeth... trust me I tried. I know its fustrating.. had it happen to be me a couple times, you really only can suck it up... oh well... If you contact your vendor, they will most likely replace the broken juice bottles even though it has nothing to do with them. Good companies do that.

USPS is a goverenment agency... worthless and can't expect anything from them.. lol...

USPS is not a government agency, and hasn't been since the mid 80's.

I get a kick out of all this. They move millions (if not billions) of letters/packages a day and relatively few get damaged or lost. All doing it at pretty competitive prices, yet people will ..... and complain about how poor their service is. How about the 1000's of things you have gotten over the years without a problem?

Go file a claim with the PO and be done with it. IIRC, they have $100 insurance on every package automatically.

I have to agree with this. My brother's company (musical instrument related) uses USPS priority shipping for all domestic shipping and the service has been great, and at good prices. As for the "automatic" insurance, I believe that's only on the express or priority shipping options, but I could be wrong.

I could be wrong but I think that ALL Priority Mail is Insured for $50 Automaticaly.

What every you do, save ALL the Pacakaging and the Damaged Items because the PO will want to see them.

Back from my trip to the post office. You are S.O.L. unless your package was insured, even if they admit liability. I am going to try that if I ever get in a car accident again. "I know it was my fault but I am not paying ya." I would never expect the vendor to pay for something that they had no control over.

It's 100% not clear that the post office crushed the package. USPS owns a total of zero aircraft so if the package was sipped far distance it was FedEx shipping it. Ups ships packages to and for the post office on a regular basis also. Although the three companies are rivals they work together every single day.

I don't believe the USPS will except packages that have Visible Damage to them. At least my PO doesn't.

It doesn't matter if Fed-Ex or UPS or East Overshoe Transit carried the Package at some point. USPS assumes the Responsibility if that is who the Postage was Paid to.

I don't think priority mail is automatically insurred to $50 or $100. I know express mail is, but don't think priority mail is. As the OP stated, he is S.O.L.

Yes, I understand they do millions of packages and letters, and very few get lost/damaged, but you should accept responsibility for the ones that do.

The OP states the vendor shouldn’t be responsible for covering it because it wasn’t their fault… but they could of packaged it better with more bubble wrap, but I didn’t see how it was packaged so who know if they used enough bubble wrap. But based on the pics, no amount of bubble wrap could of protected that… looked like a truck ran over the corner of the box.

I have friends that work for the post office. They say packages get abused big time… but that’s what I heard. (of course I heard fexed/ups employees throw packages too) I’m over paranoid. I always use twice as much padding/packaging as most people. I’ve seen some f’d up packages in my time.

USPS still handles the packages, and bundles them, and put them in large containers. Then they have the transit outsourced to airlines or fedex, etc… So if it was damaged it was most likely because of the handling by USPS personel, not other companies.

To clear up somethings...The vendor packaged in the priority box as they have done 1,000's of times. The plastic with the white on it was put on by the post office after the box started leaking and broke open. The writing on the plastic outer package is from the post office and states that they had a different package jam up a belt on a sorting machine and my package got damaged in the melee'. They had to package it back up just so it could continue on it's way. I think that is an admission of liability. That still doesn't get me more product or the money to replace it. If I contacted the vendor I am sure they would replace it but that is not the point. I would love to put my case before a jury of my peers but even the fees of filing in small claims court make it not worth my while.
