Some Background Info:

Smoked for 7 years, Kool 100s. I Have been trying to quit daily for a few months now. I ordered the Electronic Cigarette 3.0 gold EDITION from smoking everywhere for 50 bucks on Amazon.

While I know this is probably not the final solution for my smoking cessation, I needed something to get this ball rolling. So...

I want to get higher-end products, but I am so confused about which ones to go with. I have read tons of threads and reviews, and I am still kind of confused.

In the youtube screwdriver review by grimm, what is the "stainless steel 901" he is using at about 2:30? youtube.com /watch?v=tcukaPfTUKA

Bascially I want to have 1 ecig that looks like an actually cigarette, but i also want another one that is buffer, but yet still pen style. I have been considering also picking up a SD, but it may be a little to awkward for daily use.

Any advice would be great, and I have other questions I will pose as some replies roll in.

Thanks guys.

Most people will recommend that you get a Joye 510. It's pretty much the standard, and very well liked. That would be a good first step. They're not much bigger than a 100 style cigarette, either.

If I were you, I'd find some way to return what you ordered from SmokingEverywhere. They're crap, and the company is very shady. Then use that money to get a 510 from someplace like cignot.com, ryaundirect.com, or many other places. Once you give the 510 a shot, then you may or may not want to upgrade later on to one of the big boys like the screwdriver, the VP2, or Prodigy.

I'm on my 5th day of a PremiumECigarette PR 110 model. It's 2 stage just the battery and cartridge and i'm happy with it. I have no experience with juice or any of that. The only thing I notice about the model I use is the batteries (got 2 in the kit) are very erratic in their service. One battery last 5 hrs the other last 13 or 14. That's a pretty huge difference. I'll order another battery soon just to be safe, overall i'm happy with this product. It tastes great and works the way I hoped it would. No analogs since saturday morning and I was up to almost 3 packs a day.

    Somewhere between here and there
I have been using a 510 for about 8 weeks now and the TH and vapor are pretty good but the battery life leaves something to be desired. I kinda wish I had bought a janty stick or prodigy to start with. Oh well, live and learn. I will be getting a prodigy as soon as I can afford it.

I got the Adaptever and was afraid that it would be too large or heavy. It is neither. I have small hands (only 4' 11" tall) and I find it very comfortable to use. I know the Silver Bullet is about the same size and both are similar in size to the Screwdriver. My decision of which mod to get after reading great reviews on many of them was based on who had them in stock when I was ready to order. I'm not very patient, so I didn't want a long wait time. I'm very happy with what I got, but I'm sure I'd have been happy with a number of them. Well worth the price.

Once you get a device with a manual battery, the SE gold will be in the drawer.

The 510 is a good little manual device except for the very short battery life. If you are more interested in performance over looks, very long battery life (8 hours) and very inexpensive batteries ($2), then you should look at the premiere devices:

The Big Nine in Long Battery Life Manual Switch PV’s:

    Screwdriver: ecigscrewdriver.com
The Black Screwdriver Kit / Totally Wicked eLiquid / Electronic Cigarette eLiquid Store
Prodigy: PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!
    GG: SmokeJuice - HOME
JantyStick: Janty USA - Janty USA
LV/ZiMoshi:Personal Vaporizers : Hardass Vapor Shop
Super T: Super T, Innovative manufacturer of Personal Vaporizer products.
AdapteverR: Home - AdapteveR Home of the ORIGINAL USA built PV
    Silver Bullet: http://www.altsmoke.com/starterkit/silverbullet.html
    VP1/VP2: VaprLife

Boss, I think you made a great choice! I love my 801 (my fist PV, and I'm still using them today after almost 8 months!).

The manual button batteries are pretty great (but then, I never had much problem with the automatics, other than worry of juice draining down into them, so that is eliminated by the sealed manual batteries). Don't forget to use the straw modification for your 801 and 901, it really helps! The 801 is a great long vape with the cartridge size and the flavor is good on them. A really fuss free vape with a nice long battery life.

901 is a good little unit, but I just don't use mine (got it a month ago).

For a 2nd PV I chose the 510. Gives you that cigarette hit when a bad craving strikes. Several Suppliers have a starter kit so you can check it out a bit more inexpensively. Totally Wicked also has the new long life battery for the 510 which puts an end to the worst thing about a 510 (the smaller cartridge size is next, but they do last a fair amount of time with a bit of modification with the Lipton Pyramid Gossamer Teabags used as cartridge filling). Maybe the 510 will be something to consider after you have gotten the hang of the 801 and 901.

Later you might want to consider a USB passthrough for each of your models. They are awesome! A Kensington USB battery pack and a passthrough can keep you going all day (and are terrific in a car). The Kensington can be bought at BestBuy for about $29 right now.

By the way, your suppler choice is probably the BEST in customer service. Ed and David are 5 stars in my book!

Let us know how you get on with the new units!

Hey, maybe you guys can help me out, I am trying to pick between the 510 and the 901's. I have read great things about both of them. I wanted to make sure that I am getting a good one to start out with. People are talking about a true SLB 901. Where can I find these, can anyone direct me to a site that has the kits for sale and also true SLB replacement parts? Thanks for the help guys (sorry to thread-hijack, but apparently I cannot create my own posts yet).

Someguy-- It really depends on what you are looking for when choosing between the 901 and 510. I've had both and prefer the 510 because it gives more vapor, but it uses more juice. PCC's are easy to find for the 510 which give you the ability to charge on the go. Of course for length of charge time the 901 charge lasts longer, it doesn't burn through as much juice and it gives pretty good vapor. They are both good units.

Thanks for your help. I probably am going to be getting both just to try them out. I was really hoping someone would be able to direct me towards the real DSE901 (SLB). Thanks.

Whether you get the 510 or the 901, just make sure you get MANUAL batteries and not auto batteries or you will be frustrated and disappointed in the inconsistency. Here are some good suppliers of both with manual batteries. You need to specify manual batteries on some sites:

I like the mint I get from Good Prophets. It's kind of a spearmint flavor and he has different strengths. It's the Dekang mint so anyone who sells it should taste the same. I especially like it when I add some Orange Tasty Puff drops to it, tastes like those Orange/Menthol cigs that Camel used to sell in the tins. If you mix the mint with Watermelon Tasty Puffs it tastes like Fruit Stripe gum which was odd when I first tried it, but really yummy.

Agreed. I was in the same position as our friend here not more than a few weeks ago. Thanks to this forum, I opted for the Janty eGo for my first, opposed to what our friend had chosen. I have to agree with him, I was in the same spot, just want to get the ball rolling but I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this site and get some ideas before I made my choice, hell, I paid an extra $40 in shipping costs to get it right away for my eGo, haven't looked back since. I do have to admit. I did order a Blu ahead of my Janty but even this isn't too bad. I'm currently looking for a third,, probably a Silver Bullet. With this beign shared, I guess for a nubee, we understand that when we are venturig into the "unknown/understood" we are taking some risks. But! Considering what would one pay for "analogues" in a single month,, if it's not an investment in reducing our costs, but lessons too. So,,,, don't be hard on yourself if you can return your original purchase, your still money ahead in lessons learned..
