The SMPL style mods are some of the most unsafe mods there are. The hybrid style topcap and no venting at the top cause them to be very unsafe especially for non expert vapers.
Ow thanks for that , btw the mod and firing button also feels hot now when the day i left it burn for a couple of mins . huhuhu

Yeah the drip tip just melted and i try to build again but the firing button seems to feel hot when i pop 4-5 times straight , i dont know whats the problem if its the battery or mod or the atty

qwerty,

Listen to me carefully: I'm all for people giving you advice in this topic. However, here are the facts:

You have a melted drip tip.
Your firing button is getting hot.
You don't know what a protruding pin is on an atty, yet you're using a hybrid mod.
You're not sure that your battery is still healthy alive and well after the "meltdown".

Let me just make one more post that i hope gets your attention: right now, you are in the situation of using a pipe bomb. Because you are not experienced enough to be using this.

(I asked you to check back in because I want to make sure you haven't blown off part of your face or your hand.)

you asked how you can be safe: For you to be safe, at your present knowledge level, I'll just be honest: Right now, you need to put that thing a in a drawer somewhere and close it. Take the battery out and toss it, yes, take to a recycle place. If you melted a drip tip that battery is probably not healthy anymore.

Get yourself a regulated mod to start out with, something w/protections and in the meantime, while vaping on something else, you can take your sweet time learning about the setup and how to problem-solve it while it's *resting* in the drawer. ;)

Start out by learning to use a multimeter. (Please tell me you are using a multimeter???)

I hope nobody thinks I am being overly cautious in my advice. I'm quite sure I'm not. Because these are questions that should be known and answered BEFORE you ever put a battery into a hybrid mod and press the button.

Until you understand WHY the pin has to be protruding, and WHY the battery needs to be tossed, etc. then you are not ready to use the smpl mod. I am very happy to hear when you melted the drip tip that you did not do any damage to yourself, or your surroundings. I don't believe in tempting fate.

I would not say they ARE unsafe, I would say they CAN BE unsafe in the wrong hands.

I have 2 friends here on ECF who use them daily. They are advanced vapers, they know what they are doing, and I don't worry about them at all. ;)

Yes the SMPL type mods can be used safely but they are cheap and attract many who just want to blow clouds at .1 ohm. From what I have seen they are 90% of the exploding mods out there.
For those who do not know how to use them safely they are a fairly likely pipe bomb.

I have a couple of tube mechs. But mine have pins in the top and I even drilled 3 vent holes around the top and use good batteries in them. Well good enough for the low wattages I vape at :)

imho ALL tube mods need good top side venting.

I kinda guessed that ;)

I

i dont have any to use right now :(

Well your profile doesn't give a location. So I don't know where you are and how difficult it would be to get something else......quickly.

IF you are just trying to stay off the smokes, then I would suggest buying *anything* regulated , even if it is a simple spinner/ego and you may very much enjoy the eleaf istick battery for NOW. All under $30......some under $15.

till you figure out the SMPL mod, learn about batteries and different atty pins, and also practice using a multimeter. You should not be using a mechanical mod until you understand your equipment. I am just tryin' to keep ya safe my friend.

If you need suggestions, give us your budget and everyone here will help ya figure out your options.

The SMPL mechanical mod is probably the worse mod you, as a beginner, could have chosen. As stated by many before me here, this contraption is only for experienced vaping enthusiasts who are very familiar with its pecularities.

Top pic on the right: No 510 center pin on top of the mod where the juice attachment screws in

Basically, these "faux" hybrid mods lack a 510 center pin. This allows direct contact with the battery and the 510 connector of the juice attachment. What is missing in the SMPL mod is a safety feature known as an insulated 510 center pin. Using a regular tank or juice attachment on a SMPL mod is the blueprint for a disaster waiting to happen. You can only use a juice attachment with an extended center pin (see pic below) in its 510 connector on mods like the SMPL.

You are extremely lucky that your SMPL mod didn't turn into a pipe bomb!

I'm not saying anything on this because my advice - hybrids are good mmmmkay. But having a hybrid and NOT knowing whether the 510 pin on your atty is protruding enough is BAD mmmmkay.

So an atty like a Tugboat is good for hybrids, why? Because the pin sticks out a good amount. Flawless makes a good atty and a hybrid mech mod and when paired together results in a beast of a setup. But I digress, all the information given to you is valid. Check your battery man. If your switch is getting hot, you got a really bad issue there bud. Most likely a short somewhere. Either that or you just got a ....ty spring, a faulty insulator, or something isn't doing what it was intended to do. But 9/10 times it's a defective battery.

I have a smpl mod and I'm fairly new to vaping on mech mods. Had a mvp3.0 for over a year before. Bought a smpl mod but only after talking with experienced users, purchasing some vtcs and doing a lot of research myself. I researched what kind of ohm builds I could do what kind of atty I needed as I was use to the Atlantis tank. Now I have either my Royal hunter or my velocity on there and it vapes great. I notice that drop in voltage from the hits I get so I swap out the battery for a freshly charged one. I also regularly clean it completely and make sure the firing switch isn't sticking at all anywhere.
