I followed a great tutorial, and in less than 5 min had easily rewicked the coil. I was so proud of myself - wait for it - until I took my first 'drag' and all I got was a lot of gurgling and a mouthful of juice (dramatic over statement, but did get some juice). So my peeps, what did I do wrong? What should I try? TIA

ETA: I was using cotton for the wick

I'd like to help, but we're going to need some more details - or even better, a photo!

Generally speaking though, flooding issues (which is what you're describing) arise from too much juice getting to the coil (if that wasn't obvious). Either you didn't use enough wick, or a thick enough wick, or you cut it too short (thus not allowing enough wick for the juice to saturate in), or you ought to add a 'flavour wick', etc.

Although you think of the wick as "pulling in" juice to the coil, the actual purpose of the wick (in an evod or other bcc) is actually to limit the amount of juice going to the coil (so that the coil can vaporize the liquid properly).

Try putting an extra "flavor wick" or 2 across the top of the coil. Make sure you still have good airflow through the head (if you've blocked the air channels, you will wind up sucking fluid directly into the coil chamber).

And (I mention this only because I've forgotten it so many times) make sure you put the silicone donut back on! ;-)

Always works for evods buy a 5 packs of replacement heads -- never fails. If you have w wire welder then that changes everything. Buy the 5 pack and say to yourself wow I have a wire welder..
I have the replacement heads, just thought I'd like to try using cotton to see what the taste difference may be, but thanks!

Getting the right amount of cotton is pretty tricky. Too much burns, too little floods. Check out some of the links here and videos. They may help you get on the right track to the proper amount. Took me a few trys to get things nailed down to my style of vaping.

As soon as I make it to the store, I am going to try out some Peaches and Cream yarn. Seems easier to get the right amount constantly vs cotton balls or q-tips.

I had trouble using cotton balls. Finally I bought some Peaches and Cream Yarn at Walmart. I boiled it....let it dry and started rebuilding my Protank coils. They came out perfect....no guessing on how much cotton to roll. Just cut the size yarn you need pull it through the coil....no guess work needed....soak for 15 minutes and it's good to go.

Good Luck to You.

You don't need a wire welder to rebuild EVOD coils. Pictures would be good to see what's wrong. I've had better luck rebuilding PT2 coils with silica than cotton. Found out I was using too much cotton.

I can always taste the rubber ring without nr wires. You definitely do not need them but theres a reason why you should use a welder and thats why i can always taste the silicon and if you get too hot the tank cracks faster..
