Hi all!

I've been using the same setup for what has to be a good 3-4 years now. Joye eGo battery with disposable Smoktech dual coil low-resistance cartomizers. It's treated me well over the years but I feel with all these new fancy batteries, mods and tech I might be better served upgrading. My main gripes with the eGo would be :

- Cost and longevity of cartomizers (usually get around a week until they're hard to draw/taste terrible)
- Battery life
- inconsistent throat hit

I really, really like a hard throat hit. I use fairly high-nic juices to help. I was at a recent B&M tape shop and was trying some 0mg juices on, if I remember correctly, a Sigelei 30w device with a Nautilus tank? It's the first time I've heard of either of these things haha. I feel like I've been left behind by the tech.

The device and tank seemed awesome. I could literally hear the coils power. Is this something that I should look into for a personal setup? I'm fairly new to the whole "mod" thing, and know nothing about coils etc. I guess I'm seeking something that will last a long time battery-wise, provide an awesome throat hit and not leak while carrying to-and-from.

Any insight would be really, really appreciated. Sorry for my ignorance of the new tech.

Nautilus Mini or full sized Nautilus on an iStick 50w (4400 mah). You can move into sub ohm tanks with this iStick and the battery lasts all day and some.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

If you really liked the Nautilus tank consider getting it (holds 5mls of juice) or it's little brother, the mini Nautilus (2mls).
Pair it with a iStick 30Watt (2200mAh) or it's big brother, the iStick 50 watt (4400 mAh) battery.

If you are interested in the Nautilus make sure you pick up the BVC's (bottom vertical coils) for Nautilus. They perform much better than the BDC's (bottom dual coils).

The throat hit comes from the mg of nic in your juice. PG also comes into play, but to a lesser extent than the mg of nicotine.

As far as a low cost mod goes, you can't beat the Sigelei Mini 30 in my opinion. It is very reliable and a well built mod. As far as battery life, just keep a couple of 18650's on hand and you never have to worry. One in the mod and the other charged or chariging and you will be good to go. I vape quite heavily and a battery will last me a day and a half at 5-7 watts. As far as a tank goes, there are several on the market that would suit your needs. If you liked the Nautilus tank that you tried, I would say start with that and then if curiosity got to ya, you can try others down the road. Good luck and you on your choices, surely you will get lots of suggestions.

I get 2 weeks from a BVC (mini Nautilus) coil. That's less money than ONE cigarette a day.

I've done 21 days on 2 x Subtank OCC coils (about 10 days each then) and have changed them not because the taste has gone, but because they are nasty-looking.

Whatever, in my opinion, forget all the "old tech" Kangers. I used to get 4-5 days and I don't even vape very much.

Thanks to all for the recommendations and links so far. As you can tell from my join date I've been quite the lurker on this board haha. When I joined my 510's and eGos were still pretty popular and "new".

What's the deal with coils? Do they get replaced often? For instance....when I use the tank for a while, do I eventually just change the coil unit inside when it starts to get funky?

Read my post above yours (#5)... that'll give you some idea.

For ultimate value, a RBA (RTA) is the best option, but I need plug and play.

Thanks for that. Not really into the idea of rebuilding just yet. I would like something plug and play, albeit cost-effective, as well.

I am so pleased to hear that. People seems to get all argumentative (other forums) when I say I rely on P and P tanks when I have a collection of proper rebuildables.

Personally speaking, I am totally sold on the Kanger Subtank with the 1.2ohm coil so I can use it on an iStick. I'm actually running it at less power than the Aspire mini Nautilus... it's a vapour machine... !! :)

How? When I run my Nautilus Mini at anything above 10 or 11 watts, it just tastes burnt. And if I run the Subtank anywhere below 12 watts, the thing pops and spits at me.

I will second the iStick/Nautilus combo. That is the set up that I am using now. I've only been using the Nautilus Mini (haven't used the full size Nautilus yet) for 4 days and haven't needed to swap out the coil yet. The 4400 mAH battery in the iStick 50 lasts me a full week before I need to recharge it.

I would go with the iStick 50watt and the Subtank Mini or Nano. Better flavor and vapor production. Also more options. Stock .5ohm OCC and 1.2ohm OCC coils plus the ability to build on the RBA deck that comes with it (Mini). I have all (Nautilus Mini, Nautilus and Subtank Mini) and haven't touched either of my Nautilus tanks since getting the Subtank Mini a few months ago.

Hope this helps. :)

Things to consider what do you want to spend on an upgrade? What are the features you want in a new setup power range of the mod battery life etc then what style of vap are you do you mouth to lung, french inhale, or straight to the lungs kind of person? Do you want clouded or more flavorful vape or a balance of the 2? These are questions nobody took the time to ask it is easy to recommend what we have personally enjoyed but that may be a bit more than what your looking for.

A big congrats on the vaping for that long. I see improvements all the time so I imagine whatever you decide will knock your socks off. Hope we don't have to wait 3-4 years to hear about it.

Go with Subtank mini... You can learn about building your own coil while still using the factory built one as well when you can't do it. I was learning to build the coil and calculate the ohm about one month after into vaping. It's not that hard and I am no handyman... Normally I can disassemble but can't assemble afterwards.

For the vw, I use smok xpro m65 for $50... They are good although not perfect. I have heard that Sigelei mini 30w is reliable too although not as small as smok xpro.

With that setup you might shock that the throat hit is much more compared to your current setup.
