Help me with a Nimbus, please?!?!

So I stopped at a new to me vape shop in town today. I was impressed. He makes his own juices, and is a knowledgeable fella. He had several genuine and clone goodies there, but unfortunately no Cyclones. I more or less decided I wanted the Cyclone, but the Nimbus intrigued me. I really wish it had adjustable airflow, but whatever. It had a small chamber, which is what I am after as a flavor hound, not a cloud chaser. He had the real deal, and a clone. I looked at both, and while I saw the benefits of the real deal over the clone, I decided to step into RDAs with the clone. I figured for $15 it was a chance I would take. I have a Russian and love the flavor, draw, and TH.

I went ahead and just started with a single micro coil, 28Ga at 2 ohms, and wicked it simply with rolled cotton, about an inch long. The TH was very heavy. It didn't choke me out, but it was stout, too stout. I have played with my wattage and have found I like the flavor best at 7.5 watts. I played with my wick quite a bit I found I liked it best with a lot of cotton in the well and a very slight bit over the top of the coil. I moved the coil down low to the deck, and found it helped with the TH, and positioning the air hole right at the coil helped with flavor. The draw is too tight, and I wonder if this is helping or hurting my builds. The genuine Nimbus had 2 air holes, and the clone has 1, but it is bigger.

I am hoping to see some builds and get some ideas. I want a tad less throat hit, and I am striving for more flavor. To me the dripper just doesn't do anything better than the kayfun style attys. I have an Aqua on the way (should be here very soon) and a KFL+ ordered, as well as a kayfun 3.1 clone on the way. I will be playing with my new Nemesis, so getting my builds perfect is going to be important to me. Frankly, a dripper is something I really want to work on, as I have read about how they do everything better. But at this point, I can't justify even spending $100 on a Cyclone if it doesn't get much better than this.

Any tips and/or advice on improvements with dripper builds will be GREATLY appreciated.

TIA

the TH from micro coils in drippers kills me as well, I know every is liking it but i stick with a standard old 30 gauge 4/5 or 5/6 wrap on some silica. plenty of flavor but very smooth.

one thing to check is to make sure the coil isnt too far away from the airhole and adjusted to be the correct height so the air blows directly on it.

just so you know Eko is silica just weaved a different way.

I would worry more about airflow right now from the sound of it. the further off the coil with the airflow the more the TH will increase so play around with that first.

I have the N clone as well, and i usually fiddle with it using a flashlight shined in the air hole to make sure the air comes in dead center of the coil not too high or low or off to the sides too much.

little adjustments can make a big difference in drippers.

Micro coils were killing me until I drilled out the air holes. I do not have a Nimbus but I do own several IGO series and a ChiTriot. I have found that the air holes at 1/16 are the best for me. I typically shoot for around 1 ohm on them. I still get a bit of a throat hit but not unbearable and the flavor is great as well as vapor production. I also put my coils up off the deck so that they are close to the air inlet(s)
