I just got my first vape(510) in.

I have only used it a couple of times but I am getting ZERO throat hit from this thing. The amount of vapor is fine just no throat hit.

I am using the medium GOLD ECOpure from innovapor that came with the vape.

I have read on here that there is a bad taste at first from the primer, but I dont really have a bad taste. Its more... sweet I guess and doesnt really taste like tabacco.

Any help would be awesome! Thank you!

Throat hit is heat plus nicotine basically - some flavors can impart a throat hit - mint, menthol. For the size of ecig you have mini - the 510 has the best shot at throat hit if you have the nicotine as well in a flavor that can help it. If that doesn't do it you'll have to go to a higher volt mod. Don't even think of anything smaller - ie. supermini, or an auto, etc.

Gold medium is stated as a 'smooth flavor with a great throat hit' at innovapor but Rich High or above would do better. I actually use Ecopure to smooth out harsh flavors and to get more vapor. You might be better with a PG based 555 flavor - one of the strong tobacco flavors with at least a 18-24mg range, 36mg if you can handle it. My top nic level is 24mg, but I'm more into flavor than throat hit and the 510 does well with flavor in the tobacco based ones and others too. Not as good for fruit flavors.

Well... I topped off the cart and then it started giving me an okay throat hit. Still not what I would like but it was something.

I dont think I filled the cart up all the way the first time. And I dripped a couple drops on the atty.

I am still getting a bad taste that still sorta sweet. I dont like it. But as many others have found out I will break it in.

But I am hoping the flavor of the GOLD is MUCH better once the atty is broke in. But I will be placing an order with rockymountainvapor for some 555 and various other juices to try out.

Anymore ideas on y not much of a throat hit would be good :D

Thanks for the tips :)

Paul,

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. I run ECO on a 510 and I consider the throat and lung hit to be substantial.. at least most of the time (they can be a bit twitchy). Give it just a bit of time, let that atty break in, and get used to the device. I'm thinking that within a day it will be performing the way that you want.

Also.. play around with your "draw". You may find that a long, slow draw will give you a better hit.

One from trog that I use since I saw his post on it. When you see the battery in the charger has finished charging use it.... even if the battery you're using isn't used up. First, that's a better way to extend your batteries and you're vaping with a higher charge more.

Charging lithium-ion batteries
Do and don't battery table

"Do charge the battery often. The battery lasts longer with partial rather than full discharges"

Try a direct lung inhale (if you're not already) - inhale directly into the lungs without holding vapor in the mouth.

I am for sure giving this thang a chance. I hope it breaks in soon though :) How long does it usually take.

Also, I got the PCC with my 510 and have been taking it apart and putting it back in the PCC when I am done vaping. That should be very good for the battery then from what I read at those battery links.

I just REALLY hope that this gold juice doesnt taste like this and the primer is just overpowering it, because I really dont like it. LOL

Thanks again ;)

Are you using pre-filled cartridges? I HATE the taste in those. Horrible sweet tobacco that has a rotten pineapple tone to it. I rinse out any prefilled carts, dry them in a paper towel and refill with e-liquid.

No pre filled carts. They were all empty and I filled them with ECO. But yes it is sort of like a very odd pineapple sort of flavor. Good call on that description ;)

The manufacturers use e-liquid on the atomizers as primer... betcha that is it! It will vaporize out (eventually). If you want to clean it, use good Vodka or Everclear. Rinse the atomizer with the alcohol (don't use rubbing or ISO, no good!) blow out and give it some wrist snaps like a thermometer until you can't feel liquid coming out of it. Put about 4 drops on the atomizer bridge... fill the cart up and take a few puffs (without inhaling), add drops to the atomizer bridge as needed until it gets going again.

That should clear it out!

Sooo... just fill the part of the atty with the mesh stuff and swish it around? lol

Can I use whiskey? I dont drink vodka
Best to use clear vodka. I use Galen's 151 proof (that helps with the cleaning And the drying) charcoal filtered (no impurities to settle on the coil, etc.). And if you're going to just fill the atty casing then you're going to have to turn it over real quick with your finger on the opening because it will run right through out the center batt hole or the air intakes on the side. I'd just fill a small glass or bowl and soak it for 15 minutes for shipping fluid (which Helen is right it's pure PG) and 1-2 hours for cleaning used attys, but, imo, not an overnight soak.

LOL have a whiskey... after you go buy Everclear or good Vodka!

I've soaked overnight in Everclear (especially menthol carts or anything with a hard draw). For primer, I just do a quick dunk... 15 min. in a pill bottle works (nice tight cap). Cleaning I leave longer... some say it will eat the finish off of some attys, but I haven't had that happen (yet... I have some new ones with a cherry red finish... that may eat away in the Everclear).

Nice thing about the alcohol is it evaporates away quick. Water will stay in the metal mesh of the atty bridge. I never clean with water and I have attys over 4 months old.

Regarding the primer question, I see you got this from Innovapor.
They do not use any "primer" other than Ecopure juice, at least in my experience.

Regarding your other questions...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...buying-using-electronic-cigarette-primer.html

PG versus VG juices
PG is propylene glycol and VG is vegetable glycerin.
Either of these ingredients can be purchased relatively cheaply and easily by themselves.
They can be used for making your own liquid if desired. or for cutting juice you have purchased.

As far as differences go, this is what I have gathered from reading things here and there.

1) VG is thicker (more viscous)
2) VG vaporizes at a lower temperature
3) VG produces better vapor
4) VG is somewhat sweeter

Because of the above...

1) VG does not wick quite as well
2) VG may gunk up your atomizer more quickly
3) VG produces a somewhat cooler vapor which may reduce throat hit
