I've got a Samsung 26f 2600mah, it lasts 2 full days in my iTaste VTR. The more mAh the better right?

Nope, not true. The battery must first be the correct chemistry. Your battery is an ICR Li-Ion battery - not a high-drain, safe-chemistry battery.

The VTR, like all variable voltage/wattage regulated mods, uses PWM (pulse width modulation). This boost circuitry requires up to 9 amps of power from the battery for optimum performance of the circuit board. Your Samsung 26f will have at best 3 amps of power available, so your VTR will not perform as optimally as the manufacturer designed it to.

There's more to choosing a good battery than just buying the one with the highest mah. Battery chemistry is much more important.

Why High Drain Batteries?

No Apologies needed.

Many of us knew little about the In's and Out's of Batteries before we started using e-Cigarettes. I know I didn't know all that Much.

I'm not personally a fan of Efest batteries. They are notorious for overstating their battery specifications.

For instance, the purple 35 amp Efest battery is a rebranded LG18650HE2 cell which LG claims is only a 20 amp battery.

The purple 30 amp Efest is merely a rebranded Sony V4 battery under the wrapper.

Efest 30 & 35 amp batteries

I'd go with a more reputable battery like Aw, Panasonic, or Sony.

Nobody has mentioned MNKE batteries. Are they any good? I've read on here people having issues with eFest batteries so I am steering clear of those but I can't find Sony 26650's anywhere. I think I bought the last 2 from the vendor I got them from and heard Sony stopped manufacturing them and nobody knows when they will start again.

MNKE seem to be the only other option, any advice?

MNKE is the top manufacturer for 26650 batteries.

Funny you guys should mention MNKE Batteries. I watched this thread Evolve...

If I were you, I would upgrade my battery and charger. Not because the battery you have is bad, but it could be damaged or worn out. I just got my vape mail for today and got efest 2000mah 3.7v high drain batteries, and I am IN LOVE with them. As for chargers, I would go ahead and spend the money and be done and go with the xtar VP2. It cost's between $40 and $60 depending on were u get it (I think amazon is the cheapest I've found), but it is the best charger I've ever owned. It can handle any battery you can throw at it, including 26650's, If you get to using something that big. It's truly an amazing charger.

Guys just found these on eBay could anyone tell me if these are any good for my Legend and if not why not?

UKAj891 4 x UltraFire 18650 5600mAh 3.7V Protected Rechargeable Li-ion Battery | eBay

Thanks for your help guys

"Protected" lithium battery is like political spin for unsafe chemistry battery.
The safe chemistry batteries do not come with protection circuitry added on.

I'd look for the "IMR" batteries.
Check out Baditude's blog.

ok guys the amount of information passed down from everyone is amazing but however is daunting, due to the fact i have a family at home and safety is paramount.

from what i have determined already
1. use button tops
2. do not use protected in a vape mod.The protection circuit will clash with the APV electronics.
3. a good quality charger is a must.
4. do not use efire or trustfire
5.the more mAh the better (but be cautious over the true number value to what is printed).
6.do not use ANY ICR Li-ion battery.
7.Use only IMR or IMR/Hybrid batteries. These are newer technology, safe chemistry, high drain batteries and will perform much better in a mod than an ICR battery. These are also called unprotected Li-Mn.

What does NCR Prefix mean? as i found these , are they suitable?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-NCR18650PD-UNPROTECTED-Rechargeable-Battery-Black/dp/B0099R4AA6/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1404072126&sr=1-5&keywords=18650+battery+3.7v+button+top

However i am still daunted over the vast subject on batteries and at what i am looking for.

Is there a list of trusted suppliers or brands populated for the help of the new members or new entries into the world of Mods.

could someone help on this matter as i can only find batteries at less mAh, and efest (which does not seem to be a battery people recommend)

Thanks again

A good rule of thumb is...don't buy batteries with the words "trust" or "fire" anywhere in their name. At the very least, stick to Sony, AW, MNKE, Orbtronic (although they're just rewrapped/marked-up Sony's I believe). The LG's, Samsungs and eFests can be okay if you're not sub-ohm'ing, they just don't have high amp limits. I think some of the purple eFest batteries have been found to be rewrapped Sony VTC4's, so they're okay as long as you're not paying more than actual Sony's cost (and the max amperage is 30A, not the 35A that eFest puts on their label.) Regardless, always use IMR or IMR/Hybrid as has been previously mentioned. With this list, there are plenty of choices and most of them are barely more expensive than the highly questionable/downright dangerous brands.

NCR means "Nickel Cobalt Rechargeable". The three-letter prefix on these types of batteries typically (but not always) indicates their chemical composition. IMR means "Lithium Manganese Rechargeable" (yes, somewhere along the lines a letter was mistranslated from an "L" to an "I", but 'tis what it is.) I believe ICR stands for "Lithium Cobalt Rechargeable". Regardless, you really should only be using IMR batteries, it's not worth the safety risk to experiment with other types. If an IMR vents, it's pretty tame (mostly steam and some liquid oozing out). If other types (like NCR's) vent, they can literally explode. That's why IMR is a "safer chemistry" battery; it's specifically designed to NOT violently blow up (although I'm sure there's some idiot out there who could do something dumb enough to make it happen.) No matter what chemistry the battery is, these 18xxx types require more thought and care than your typical AA or 9v alkalines, so treat them with respect.
